Helios - looks interesting
« on: January 31, 2014, 06:53:03 AM »
I happened to notice this game in one of kettlefish's posts regarding the Sheep and Hills expansion.

Helios looks like it would be right up our alley. Lots of colorful bits, very hands-on, robust game play and interesting. I will definitely have to look for this at GenCon this year.

Anyone have any experience with it?

I don't know much about it.

But following information from the HiG Homepage about Helios:

2-4 players
age: 10 years
time: 60 minutes
author: Matthias Prinz and Martin Kallenborg
graphic artist: Dennis Lohausen

Here are some pictures - from the Spielwarenmesse 2014 in Nuremberg:

When you look at the pictures you can see much materials:

glass stones, wood pieces, tokens and tiles and for each player two player boards.
It seems that one of the player boards has a big "sun" in that sun you build a map with hexagons.
The hexagons could have a different landscape (it remembers me a bit of Settlers of Catan).

You need a table which is big enough for all the materials...

W Eric Martin from BGG was in Nuremberg at Spielwarenmesse 2014.
He interviewed HiG.

Here is the link to the video:

In this report you can find all the new games and expansions from HiG - in following order:
- Bruegge - die Stadt am Zwin
- Helios
- Carcassonne - Schafe und Huegel
