I read that the first edition of Inns had a CRCR tile without the tree in the middle of the road, which was added later.

My question is, which versions have this old design? Was it only in the German ones or also Rio Grande's?

The original tile included in the standalone alone of C1 I&C included no trees. Those trees at the junction where included in the Big Box edition (you can tell from the expansion symbol).

I just checked the tile distribution of the RGG Big Box 1 rulebook and it already included the version with trees.

Well, in tile list from CarcF.de this tile with trees are marked as EI and without trees EI (alt) - alt means old on german

What about the IC stand-alone editions printed after the big box was published, did it keep the old style?

After the first Big Box was released, all the new reprints of I&C included expansion symbols and trees...

The reprinting with expansion symbols affected expansions 1 to 4. A&M was the first major expansions released with expansion symbols form the start.

You may find around some old Tile Distributions sheets that included the tiles of Exp. 1 to 4, River I and II and K&R and Cathars very useful before the release of Big Box 1 back in 2006:
