How do i know if it's a 1st edition
« on: April 13, 2016, 02:05:20 AM »
So i have a couple of offers to buy some "2000" editions of Carc. Rio Grande/HiG - no SdJ stickers or mentions. All 3 are in shrink wrap still and have a photo of the 70 point board on the back.

The thing is, i am after the 70 point board. Is there any way of specifically knowing if it will have a 70 point board in them without opening them up?

I myself do not know how to check if it has a seventies inside or not.

Perhaps weighing the value of selling it still in shrinkwrap and buying the scoreboard off the net, would it still be profitable?

I just hope that if I say the right thing, I might score a few extra points in a game.

I am pretty sure that there is no way to tell for certain.

At one stage I had a first edition with the 70-point scoreboard and another early edition with a 50-point scoreboard. The two boxes were absolutely identical - I checked everything down to the text and serial numbers!

I do not think that there is any way to tell that a shrink-wrapped box has a 70-point scoreboard.

Are you sure it hadn't been swapped out - I've had that happen :( Replaced by the superior 49-point scoretrack

Do you mean that the stone scoreboard might have been swapped in? No, I am sure that didn't happen - the box was still shrink wrapped when I got it.

I had a similar case.. Box gave the idea of an old edition. but when opened there were additional new rules and yellow scoreboard..

Clown feet - we could do a bit of a lottery - I buy one, you buy one and someone else buy the third and one of us may strike gold!

today i recieved mine,

The biggest difference as I see it now is this:

2000 edition: (with 70- scoreboard)
- Yellow warrior in right corner,
- 70-scoreboard on the back
- no mention of 2001 game of the year.

2000 edition: (with grey scoreboard)
- shows grey scoreboard on the back
- yellow lady in right corner
- no mention of 2001 nomination of game of the year.

2001 edition: (yellow scoreboard)
- shows grey scoreboard on the back
- yellow lady in right corner
- mentions the 2001 nomination of game of the year.

Later editions: (yellow scoreboard)
- shows yellow scoreboard on the back
- shows yellow lady in right corner and the pig rider in the field
- mentions the 2001 nomination of game of the year.

i can tell the barcode, but i think it's different in many countries.

above details are for the dutch versions..

well, the barcode of mine is the same.

so if you find a box with the barcode 4 001504 481254 then you have a big chance of having a 1st edition.

Unfortunatly not, the barcode is equal for all availlable editions.
