News and Events / Swedish Big Box announced.
« on: March 02, 2016, 12:17:33 PM »
In one of our Swedish stores I, today, saw that they've ordered in a Swedish version of the Big Box. There are no images yet but it's listed as a pre-order.
As of now there are so many questions, mainly if this is for the new art or the old.

I'll update this thread when I know more.

Couldn't get a better first video for this thread than this. It's cheesy but admittedly found myself laughing on a few scenes.

Reviews & Session Reports / World Record Attempt 2016
« on: January 27, 2016, 08:48:33 AM »
It's official!

This March I will be hosting a world record attempt in a convention here in Sweden called GothCon. Info will be available at gothcon.se soon but anything there will be available here as well. I will try to update the thread as progression goes with info and images.

Unfortunately I'm in a bit of a ruch out of the house but thought I at least upload what I've done today... Sorting tiles. x_x

More to come with info such as game play, rule changes, dates etc!

Other Games / Ogre board game
« on: January 10, 2016, 01:14:59 PM »
Today we finally got around unboxing the Ogre board game. I've not had much time with it yet, but here's the read-me-first poster.  :yellow-meeple:

More images and hopefully a game play this year will follow.

Other Games / Imperial game played Jan 9, 2016
« on: January 09, 2016, 03:42:18 PM »
Today six of us met up in a cafe to try a new game called Imperial. It was really a fascinating game and I think I speak for everyone in our group that this was one of the best game played so far. Undoubtedly we will play this again soon.

The remarkable with the game is that there are no dice rolls at all and even though the map and the game play looks so much like a combination of Risk and (Settlers of) Catan it's far from it. The battle aspect toned down severely and yet has merit usage.

I unfortunately ended up in fourth place when "my" nation got hi-jacked just before the last turn. And then came the end game scoring which shocked everyone of us.  :@ It was a dry run and it certainly gave us a good experience on how the game works and oh man let me tell you I got so many different tactics I want to try out in future games! One is going all Swiss just for the hell of it.  8)

Quizzes, Puzzles and Challenges / Facts and Feats with Carcassonne
« on: January 07, 2016, 03:35:11 AM »
Another thread launched early this year that will build over time!

This thread is for your own self finding facts and accomplished feats.

If you find any facts or feats made by others, feel free to post here as well with source links and a little description.

Let me go first see if anyone can top this!

Fact: I have enough tiles that if I were to lay them in one single line of row it would measure more than 500 meters (547 Yards)!

Other Games / 504 board games in one, sort of.
« on: January 06, 2016, 08:33:54 AM »
Last night, having a bit of insomnia, I was surfing with my phone for board games. Shocker, right.

A game called 504 caught my attention and seems quite an interesting concept idea. By combining various game material from the box you can get up to 504 different games.

The plot of the game is that there were 504 different earths created and each one is unique to one another. Players dives into one of these earths and have objectives complete to win.

Other Games / Other tile laying games thread.
« on: January 03, 2016, 01:22:58 PM »
I came across this thread on boardgamegeek.com and thought I link it here (see bottom of this post for the link). This is almost like a wishlist to me and hopefully I can get my hands on some of these this year (2016).

If any of you can find more games like this but is not listed in this BGG thread, feel free to reply and I'll add them to the list!

The BGG thread lists these games which I've sorted by shape and then alphabetically and will feature cc.com members additions as well:
(Note: Some games have different titles in other languages. I will try update this as much as I can!)

Click on the game title to go to boardgamegeek.com page for that game.
Click on Thread to go to the thread on cc.com for that game.

Reviews & Session Reports / Axis & Allies Europe game session
« on: January 01, 2016, 03:45:54 PM »
Today, January 1st, some of us hit the new year of 2016 head on with the toughest thing we knew in the world of board games: Axis & Allies Europe edition.

It took us little over 2 hours to set up the game, including reading the rules!  :-X

What really baffles you is the very first turn that Germany does, for us that never played it before. It managed to conquer vast amount of areas and the turn was over after like an 1 hour.  :))

I was Great Britain myself and tried to survive German submarines wreaking havoc. Eventually I ended up with just building Fighters and Bombers allied with United States Bombers to give support to Russia that was marching troops on land.
I think the Allies had a good chance of winning. Maybe 3-4 turns but that would have taken us like another hour to play.  :@

Unfortunately we had to abort the game as it was getting late. We started prepping the game at 3:30 pm and then played from 6 pm - 11:30 pm.

General / Simple cheesy 3d cube rotation work
« on: December 24, 2015, 02:38:45 PM »
I found a 3d cube rotation script online that I used to make this Carcassonne cube. Use the mouse to move around. It's not perfect but can certainly be perfected.

Anything Else / I love Owls

I don't believe it! >:( Amazon.com have delivered this almost a week earlier than expected, but they've completely mucked up the delivery address! As is obvious from the picture above, they've clearly delivered it to quevy by mistake! ::)

If it really had gone to quevy then it would have made more sense. After all, it's the Wheel of (mis-)fortune.  ;)

Other Games / Brettspiel Advent Calendar 2015 - day by day
« on: December 01, 2015, 12:45:03 PM »
Hello!

This is a thread started tonight where I will be opening one hatch each day from December 1st to December 24th and give some feedback for each expansion. The rules will be posted on their (Frosted Games) official website each day for the expansion it correlate in German and English downloadable as .pdf. French was added on December 3rd as well.

Many of you probably know which the expansions are that comes with the box, but it could be fun to have a little more in depth of what these expansions actually do. Each post will represent one day on this thread. Feel free to comment and suggest! I most likely don't even own half of these games so I can't test them yet, and certainly not every day consecutive.

Update: Corrected the mistake of the German rules, they are NOT in Dutch as was pointed out further down this thread.  :(y)

JCloisterZone FAQ, Suggestions & Bug Reports / Suggestion: Timer each turn.
« on: November 25, 2015, 04:55:55 AM »
Is it possible to add a timer for each turn for fast paced gaming?

5 seconds a turn would be an interesting game to try out.

What happens after the timer, well there are a few ideas. One idea is, after the timer ends, each consecutive second you loose 1 point.

Post replies with what you think and / or if this idea could be improved. Thanks in advance.

Hi folks!

I'm currently working on a few projects, Carcassonne themed, and need a little help. My hours don't go 'round so I've to delegate the work, and hope some of you can help me.

The first thing I need help with is making the alphabet letters using one or several of the base game (preferably). The common expansions can also be used if it would help making the letters look prettier.

Although an ideal size would be using a 5x5 tile grid, don't let this hinder you if you feel like a bigger tile usage will make it look prettier.

You can post screenshots here replies.

Deadline is end of January 2016. Good luck and thanks in advance!  :(y)  :yellow-meeple:
