Sorry if this has been discussed before, couldn't find a thread.
This is how goods tokens from different editions of the game look like (from left: C1 from BB1, C2 from BB6 and C3 from BB7):

Is it normal that the C3 one is so ugly, with so much space for the border and the very little icon?

It is so! But even with Carcassonne 1 there are 2 types of tokens!
First type: Color drawing from the first side and black and white from the second side.
Second type: Color drawing from both sides.

Yeah I noticed! And even in C2, the ones from BB6 and the ones from the boxed expansion #2 seems to be different. Even so, the ones from BB7 are the only ones to be really ugly ;D

I hadn't even noticed how ugly the C3 tokens were. They went straight from the tile frames into storage because I replace all my goods tokens with wooden bits from MeepleSource.

The C3 tokens you posted @joe_abbot look so bad I wonder if they are actually misprints? Certainly there is no "upgrade" here to the art, and shrinking the barrel image only makes the tokens harder to see and play, not any kind of improvement for gameplay. Sad.

The different C1 tokens also have different sizes. The tokens from my Exp.2 box are much larger than the ones from my Big Box 5.
C1 master race forever.

Increase the print margin, use less accurate cutting machines, have less returns... that's what I'm seeing :(

Those C3 tokens look so off :-\

This may also be the reason for the overflowing cities with buildings. One cut off building looks bad, if they are all like that than it was meant to be this way, obviously. Goodbye well-fitted roads :'(
