Cundco New Stuff Spring 2023
« on: April 28, 2023, 07:49:54 AM »
Cundco has new stuff for Spring!

For Spooky Ghost Night:

Frozen Guardian Meeple, Crystal Guardian Meeples Sets, and Crystal Ghost Sets.  Generally these are board game bling, but nice to have.  I'd like to have seen a 1 of each option rather than enough for a player colour to act like a new Phantom Meeple.

For Carcassonne:

Nordics Map is now available, as well as all existing maps in a bundle of the C3 style.

3D starting landscape + alternative inlay - This looks like the latest mini expansion that replaced the start tile with a 3d storage box.  The edges has some features on them; it's not entirely clear whether they close or remain open. There's going to be some weird corner cases (literally).  I'm sure it'll keep Meepledrone happy clarifying them!

There's also random assortments of bits and bobs, like some extra Amazonas tiles:

It's a pity the white frozen guard meeples are not available yet!

I asked about this issue on Instagram. I was expecting some kind of enlightening answer but got this:

- Meepledrone: Is this road completed?
- HiG: Yeah I knew it ;D
- Meepledrone: You know that table edges are a nightmare... It they were just treated as Map borders...
- Meepledrone: This has been the cause of many discussions even in championships
- HiG: Well yes it counts as the border
- Meepledrone: So the road above is considered completed?
- HiG: Well this is a never ending discussion - we decided to allow the houserules of every person. I think this was way before championships were running.
- HiG: Well now I understand your hobby  :-\
- Meepledrone: Ha ha ha! Welcome to the club
- Meepledrone: So regarding the case of the picture, I know the general one is up to the players, is the road closed or should they how rule it as well?
- HiG: It counts as border was the answer of the game designer and the other part is the official version. As I know this a big discussion, I can just give you this official answer.  :(y)
- Meepledrone: Ha ha ha!
- Meepledrone: So officially it is the same as the table edge but, according to the author, it is a closing edge (like a border on a Map)

...No more replies... Too late already for Central European standards...

What do you think of all this?

I think it doesn't correct or invalid, because roads and city are marked at the border if you see carefully the picture

Honestly I don't think you are even allowed to play that tile there since the road ends in a field. Vertical field is stil la field, isn't it? But I noticed the space immediately to the right has a "end road" segment that still ends on a field.
As usual, they made an avoidable mess...

Carcassonne - 6 Tableaux of CC Amazonas.
These consist of 5 tableaux (each with 12 tiles), 10 single tiles (at least 6 of this are river tiles) and 2 double river tiles.

Is this an expansion for the game? or are these the same tiles from the 2016 base game?

The 2 double tiles are the same as in the basic game.

I think these are just spare tiles from the base game. They're not new.

I think it's safe to say that HiG made a gimmick this time, and they're not too fussed how people resolve it.

I'm already going to be scoring something like 18 points for a completed cloister on a corner.

9 tiles to complete, viewed from above, and bonus points for the vertical tiles.

And obviously it's ok to play a German Castle over the edge, to start a whole new landscape.

And if flyers can go up hill their movement's increased by root-2 so they can travel into another tile when travelling horizontally now.

This whole thing seems quite irrational to me… >:D

I actually suggested a musing around this. I think it was called the Mausoleums. You'd open a crypt, build a mini map off the main board, then pop back somewhere else.

Carcassonne with portals to the tiles from another Carcassonne game session[/li][/list]

You can get it already - see Mirror Zone by @Ker42

You don't have to use the negative scoring and just use the tiles to provide you with the portals to the other session, whether of the same edition, or a spinoff.

    And as for ...

    Diagonal Carcassonne

is this what you were thinking about - my Carcassonne Rotated 45 Degrees?

    AutumnForest (C2), Catch Of The Day (C1/2/WD), Cliffs&W'falls (C1/2), Coast (C1/2), FishHuts (C2), Fluvium (C2), NewForest (C2), Harvest (C1/2), Stone Circles (C1/2), Wells (C2), Jordan River 2 (AotC), River I/II (GR)
Devt: Sakura (C2), WinterEdge (C1), WinterCoast (WD/WE) and others

Hello there! I am considering buying the new 3D landscape/inlay, not as much for the starting landscape but mostly for the box inlay. Does anyone already have this and what is your guys opinion on the inlay? Is it any good / worth buying? And does it fit all the expansions plus possibly some mini's?

I would love to hear more about this, thank you! :D
