The magazine is SpielDoch Winter 2018 (2018/2)

Details:

contains 2 new tiles each for the basic game Carcassonne and for the new Carcassonne safari (elephant / lion + zebra / giraffe). there's also a saboteur duel promo.

small image attached shows a splitter and a 3way junction with some new component.

No it was spielbox that sanctioned that weirdness a few months ago. and that was for rereleases of limited promos.

Spiel DOCH! The strange Spielbox spinoff magazine that is only available in German and now has all the fun English-language promos. Because people were complaining about Spielbox being translated...? I'll get these tiles undoubtedly, but I am not thrilled getting yet another Spiel DOCH! issue that I can't read. To be fair, I AM learning to read German, but I am not nearly advanced enough to read a magazine like this.

Here is a much higher-resolution version of those four tiles, taken from Spiel DOCH!s website. I don't know anything about Carcassonne Safari so I don't know what a Lion/Elephant or Zebra/Giraffe tile will add to the game. The two base game tiles seem pretty basic, though. The CCFF tile seems to just have a standard stable feature on it (not sure what animal, but that only matters for the Markets of Leipzig anyway), while the RRRF tile includes a village and a Garden. Again, nothing really unusual. There may be a small stable to the south of the village and the village does seem to be slightly larger than usual (is there a tiny fountain in the centre?), but it does not seem especially remarkable. I hope that the SPIEL and DOCH! written on the two tiles are just there so people don't copy/cut the tiles from the website and not some obnoxious watermarks. The Safari tiles have no such watermarks.

elephants and lions are used in the set collection scoring when the road or jungle is completed. The jungle also contains a bird that scores an extra point when scoring the jungle. Nothing mechancially different to regulary safari.
of the regular tiles: i think the stable hosts a donkey.

we joked at the International Meet Up that I shoukld set up a business hauling items between Russia and the United states stopping off in Riga, Germany, Netherlands across the UK before visiting thr US.
