Carcassonne Hills Tie Breaker

(1/1)

OneEyedOwl:
Hello everyone,

Let's say we have a 2-Player majority on a road.
e.g. both red and yellow have a 3 meeple majority.
Both red and yellow have one hill each as the tiebreaker, BUT red has the big meeple on the hill.
Do both score points or only red?
How about if there is a majority on different hills? e.g. same situation but red has 2 hills while yellow has one (regular meeples only)

Willem:
The Hill will act as a tie-breaker in terms of the amount of meeple. So having the Big Meeple on the hill does not break the tie if there is one.
So if both have the same overall strength of meeples, and both 1 meeple (whichever sort) on a hill; it remains a tie and they both score

If you have 1 feature with multiple hills, it doesn't change the outcome.
If both have the same strength of meeples, and both at least one on a hill; it stays a tie.

(See also here and more specifically on footnote 4 :)

DIN0:
Ah yes, my least favorite Carcassonne game mechanic of all time... placed in my favorite major expansion.

In any case, Willem is right. There is however a house rule where number of meeples on hills is used as further tie-breaker.

My house rule is :

Each meeple on a hill = +0.5 meeple strength (even if there isn't a tie), this expansion is much more interesting like this :yellow-meeple:

Example: Red has 3 meeples, yellow has two meeples both on a hill, that's a tie (both 3 meeple strength).

Red has a big meeple on a hill (2.5 meeple strength), Yellow has a big meeple and another meeple but no hill (3 meeple strength), yellow wins.
