Congratulations MrsNumbers, and commiserations farin. I for one know exactly how it feels to go behind almost straight away and find yourself unable to claw anything back. I like to think I would always see the game through to its natural conclusion regardless of how badly things went, but better luck next time all the same...
Now that the winner of the final game has been announced, here is the final ranking:
Positions 17 - 40 were occupied by those who were eliminated before reaching the knock-out stage. The exact order was determined by group position, group points and then overall PD (points difference).
Positions 9 - 16 were occupied by those who reached the knock-out stage but lost their Round 1 game. The exact order was determined by group position, group points and overall PD as above. The same applies to
positions 5 - 8 (losing quarter-finalists) which were determined according to the same criteria.
Positions 3 & 4 were occupied by the losing semi-finalists. There was a separate game played using the same tiles as the final to determine 3rd position. This game was abandoned by farin leaving MrsNumbers to claim 3rd.
Positions 1 & 2 were occupied by the winner and loser of the final. Well done to Merlin_89 who took the top spot!
Many thanks to everyone who took part; I hope it was fun for you and I look forward to competing against you again soon in our next online competition! This will be announced in the new year...
There will be a small prize/ memento for everyone who took part. There will also be other spot prizes which are yet to be announced (other than the "first group to finish" prize). So, if you've received something from me in the past then you will receive something from me again (unless you've changed your address - please let me know if this is the case!) Otherwise, expect to receive a PM from me sometime soon asking for your address; I promise you'll get something
before Christmas (*)...
Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2016!
