I can't really speak from experience but I would guess that a company like Exozet probably has a lot of different projects on the go at once and so can't necessarily focus their efforts on the Carcassonne app. However, the same could be said of the company behind the iOS app so this can't be used to explain anything. JCloisterZone is certainly a labour of love though, and farin continues to improve and develop it as much as he does because he enjoys what he's doing rather than because he's being paid for it. This in itself makes a huge difference.

Yes it's true that the Android app is a long way behind the iOS app but this in itself is no reason to dismiss it outright and I think it has become a quality game even if it doesn't offer the same multiplayer options or variety of expansions as the iOS. The gaming experience itself isn't bad, it's nice enough to look at and the UI is easy to learn and manage. Those are the things they've got right. It isn't as buggy as it was when they first introduced some of the newer expansions either. I've noticed a few subtle changes in the quality of the AI opponents over recent updates, but these are still a long way behind, and as has been mentioned before, multiplayer isn't nearly so slick as it could/ should be but it does work (apparently now with expansions - not tried this yet).

I have an Android phone and an iPod Touch so I own both apps. They're both a bit different and one is certainly better than the other but I still play and enjoy both regardless of their faults/ limitations.

The android app has 50% off over this weekend. So if you want to pick up the expansions and hope they make more nows the time to do it

Once again Exozet has displayed the Father Christmas Meeple on their game icon over the festive period.... shame they've not implemented the Winter Edition yet.

After what seems like an age, the android app has received a long over due update....

No not winter edition art...

No not the princess and dragon....

No not even 2.0 artwork...

I can pay 99p for.....

A second copy of the base game. The tiles and mechanics i already paid for.

At least they made a Windows version. The problem I have is that all apps and online versions seem lame in comparison to the real thing.

Maybe McCoy's had it right when they said 'accept no imitations'!

OMG. I'm telling myself to not panic. Went to the Exozet website, and they do not show the Carcassonne logo among their games. They show Catan. But not our game. Their last news of 2015 was so positive, about things to come, it's hard to believe they'd just drop the franchise. Especially since they're the only Android app with this game. Oh well.... I'm trying to breathe slowly and deeply.... until we get more news... $:-\$

They've seemed very excited about upcoming news and things they're working on for over a year, but they haven't really delivered much. Compared to the iOS app, the Android app isn't up to much. But AI aside, the Android app in itself isn't bad at all and I usually use it at least daily to kill 10 minutes or so.

@exozet: are you able to fill us in on whether your Carcassonne app is being discontinued?

First time I've seen an app totally disappear for a long time (doesn't even appear in purchase history - though the addons do)

Hello Exozet and other Carcassonne fans! I downloaded the Android app last week and I've enjoyed it a lot. I also bought a majority of the expansions available. Unfortunately, however, it's getting boring. It's not a problem with the actual game, but with the app. Playing against CPU is not much fun since it's too easy to win and playing against other people is not as easy as it should be. I can play online only quickgames which are always 1v1 with no expansions. Custom game is possible with up to 6 players and all the expansions you want, but it can only be played with friends. I have tried to invite everyone I've faced in quickgames to be my friends but I still can't create custom games because I never know which of my friends are online. My suggestions:

1. Online games should have a lobby where anyone can create a game with any number of people and any expansions they like, and anyone can join it. For example, check out the lobby in Ticket to Ride -Android app.

2. Make it visible, which of my friends are online and which are not (much easier to try and create a game).

I hope other players are behind me on this and show their support so that Exozet can make their app even better!

Thanks for the game Pade!

Obviously things would have been very different if it had been you that had drawn the cccc tile, so I was very relieved that this wasn't the case!

One thing I did notice is that there was a bug with the farm scoring:

My farm with pig only scored me 8 points whereas 3 cities + pig should be 12. I haven't noticed anything similar in the basic game, but it does seem to be the case that the app gets confused when split tiles like some of those shown are used.

Anyway, thanks again. Hopefully we can play again soon!
