River U-turns
« on: September 06, 2014, 07:44:58 AM »
During our today's semifinal with jungleboy in the very first game we with jungleboy broke the River!
Jungleboy and I made some U-turns and we made it impossible to continue! JCloisterZone interpreted this situation as and game end (with 120 tiles left) and gave us final credits :)
Interesting what we should do in such situation playing with real tiles? My thought is: continue the game ignoring the rest of remaining river tiles.

There WAS a screenshot! But later I decided to move my topic from General to Official Rules, and the image got lost.
When I will be at home, I will reattach the screenshot.

Well done jungleboy! That was a very close game - only one point in it! Quite low scoring though...  ;D

At the end of the day it just goes to show how important the fairy is.

The pennant was what won it for me.

For me, this game will always be the 'true' World Cup semifinal  :green-meeple: :green-meeple: :green-meeple:

I viewed it as the pennant kept you in it as MrNumbers had two 1-point cities against your one 2-point city (with pennant).

For me, this game will always be the 'true' World Cup semifinal  :green-meeple: :green-meeple: :green-meeple:

reposition de last tile..

Last tile was the one with the end of the river (with a city). It can not be repositioned.

For me, this game will always be the 'true' World Cup semifinal  :green-meeple: :green-meeple: :green-meeple:

If you followed the Finnish rules of the river, that would never happen. :)

The Finnish rules say you can never turn back with the river.. so the tile that turns back towards the beguinning of the river is an illegal move according to Finnish rules. :)

It seems that ppl still have different interpretations about the no U-turn rules. Anyway, our interpretation is that no successive turns in either direction, regardless of the number of tiles in between each turn. If you think this limits too much surprise, you can just force the river to turn to the direction that won't lead to a broken river.
