People who have this already: any personal favorite (or most interesting) gods (or heroes)? Just curious.

Other Games / Re: Clank!

Lots of plays in, and this is still the current favorite for my wife and I. We've been shocked by what a different feel each game has to it. Sometimes we're crawling around the dungeon amassing treasures. Other games are quick and cutthroat. And no two games ever feel quite the same. We're hooked, and definitely picking up the Sunken Treasures! expansion coming out this month.

I voted not interested and not buying. I almost voted "Other" because there's a slight possibility I'll someday buy a few meeples and print out a hypothetical fan-made Carcassonne 1.0 version if someone made it (or DIY it some other way), but I highly doubt I ever will.

With T&B now in my collection, I think my Carcassonne purchasing is probably done. Like some others have said, I feel like I have plenty of Carcassonne variety (especially with randomizer cards!) and I'd rather use that money on other board games at this point.

And -- last time I checked -- it was just a bit over US$50 for Santorini and The Golden Fleece, including shipping, from Cool Stuff Inc. and Miniature Market. I plan to pick it up from one of those two stores once they're restocked, as I haven't found anything cheaper in the US.

Hi Decar. Thanks for getting back to us. I understand how frustrating it must be for you too.

I have followed your advice and revised/reposted The Labyrinths this morning. I'll get to The Schoolhouses soon.

In the wider scope of things, it seems a shame that the fan expansions section of CarcC's Downloads page is effectively dead/inactive going forward. I suspect many casual members of CarcC rely on that so that they don't have to crawl through the Expansions Workshop forum looking for complete (vs. in-progress) expansions. I hope, along with you I'm sure, that the CarcC staff will pay this issue the attention it deserves.

Cheers, Decar!

Hi Decar,

Any updates or answers? I share Leven's confusion.

If I've been much less active here lately, it's in large part because my main draw to Carcassonne Central is enjoying/encouraging others' fan expansions and developing/sharing my own, and this long wait/confusion has really put a damper on things for me.

The screw bridges are cool, but too expensive for me, the shipping is 5 time the price of it and there's some import fees.

Similar situation here. I would consider buying them if I could get a better shipping price.

Mostly because my wife and I have been playing other games (especially Clank!) lately rather than Carcassonne...
  • German Cathedrals
  • The Labyrinth
  • Builders (from T&B)
  • Abbeys (from A&M)
  • The Big Black Pig Escape :)

Cundco Christmas present from my wife.
  • Traders & Builders
  • 3 Blank Tile Sheets
  • The best part of Abbey & Mayor (two player version)
  • A Castle

12 blank sheets from Cundco cost me 25 EUR just for shipping to Québec.  :black1-meeple:

I just order max 9 at a time, to stay at the 3,95 Euro shipping level. :(y)

I'm with Hounk, thodekey, and Gabrielgeek01. I'm drawing the line on collecting at version 1. In some ways, I'm happy for the clear endpoint HiG has provided. As others have said, there is more than enough variety already in the Carcassonne universe, especially if you include some fan expansions. And if you want more replay value, use some Expansion Selector Cards like I do and every game will be different.

I'd say, if you really want to keep up with the new expansions, buy a Carc II base game and then buy just the new Carc II expansions to use with that. But as for buying all the old expansions (which you already own) again, I'm of the opinion that the money would be better spent on other games (or other things altogether), of which there are many. Everyone has to come to their own opinion, but I'd say: don't let the completionist in you crowd out the game-lover in you.

Well, good news. My wife tried our LEGO (well, off-brand DUPLO) Santorini again last night and had a totally different experience. She said something about the game "clicked" for her and... she beat me 3 games to 0. I was trying my best, but I couldn't have been happier to lose. :) Maybe this game has a chance with us after all.

Here is a pic I took because I was so amused and proud of myself for trapping her little Lego Chef (see: white hat) down inside a bunch of 2-level towers. But in a humbling and ironic twist, this picture captured the very moment I handed her the game, because in trapping her Chef, I unwittingly put too much distance between my workers and the unguarded level 3 tower (the yellow block right behind our flower "dome" on the bottom right). Over the next two turns she marched her other worker (the white and black Dog) first to the adjacent level-2 yellow block, then diagonal up onto the level-3 yellow block to win the game. And there was nothing I could do -- from the point captured in this photo -- to stop her.

(Note for clarification: to hold together, our game board is two blocks thick, which is why it looks like some towers are 4 or 5 blocks high--they're not.)

Hi Decar, thanks for your reply. I was following this thread, so I should have known.

Has there been any progress on this in the past month? I understand that there are some complex issues regarding where outside images are sourced from and whether copyrights are being infringed there. But is there any possibility of creating a preliminary system in the meantime while we figure those gray areas out?

For example, The School and The Labyrinths were created using nothing but original Carcassonne tile graphics (no outside images), which is fine by HiG as far as I know. Knowing this, could they be approved as a clearly copyright-infringement-free expansion? In contrast, expansions which fall into a legal "gray area" due to their use of outside images could be held until more detailed guidelines are specified. All we would need is a point person or two.

Just a suggestion... but most of all, I'm just curious where things are at with all of this, since 1. people have been contacting me requesting my expansions, 2. I'm aware of at least one other person who would like to move ahead with work on an expansion but is waiting/hoping for this issue to clear up, and 3. It would be really fun to see the rest of the Advent expansions -- I was super excited for them!

And since the Internet has a tendency to strip all the warmth from communications, let me say most of all: Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you do for this community, Decar! :) I hope you will not feel this post to be accusatory at all, but truly just inquiring and offering suggestions. If answers or solutions are not yet possible, I totally understand, and am grateful that you are working on this issue on behalf of the community.  :(y) :(y)

Not that I'm aware of, but I'm not the most in-the-know person.

Okay, now who else read this thread's title and got a little prematurely excited? :P 'Fess up.
