Thanks for the detailed write up Decar (merit added), didn't realise Élise did a drawing inside Stellarion - looks great. Hope you've recovered from the trip and caught back up with your sleep! It looks like you guys had a great time - really wish I didn't have to back out last minute, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be this year :(  Hopefully I'll be able to join you all next time though :)

Wow, how generous of you (merit added).

I'd love to add this to my collection (which thanks to a few people on the forum has seen a recent surge in new acquisitions in recent months), so please count me in!

Many thanks, Richard.

Thanks for the heads up DaFees (merit), managed to work out which mini expansions I'd already got squirreled away and placed an order.

Thanks very much for letting us know Andrew. Really glad there's an understandable explanation behind it, I was really flabbergasted when I saw it and wondered if it might be an error.

I have ordered Carc items from BGE several times before and been impressed with the price and (UK) availability, so wanted to SHARE in case others weren't aware (but also to point out non UK addresses might face rather steep P&P charge).

PS Received my Wingspan expansion pre order the other day, thanks Andrew for the prompt delivery.

Thanks for posting about the English rules. I looked into US shipping again for the 5 maps, and it’s still at €43. I was hoping they could all be rolled in one tube for a more reasonable shipping price. Shouldn’t cost €13 more to ship 5 instead of 4 maps.
I was going to point out that they're avail from this (usually good value) seller in UK, but tracked shipping to US isn't very reasonable!

Should you want to buy lots then this might be worth considering... https://www.boardgameguru.co.uk/alhambra-big-box-special-edition-4613-p.asp
Might be worth reading up on what's included (and whether it's worth it) as vaguely recall a conversation about this with Decar a year or so ago.

Note: It's late and need to make my bed after doing the washing earlier! Write up to follow tomorrow night (hopefully) as I'll be playing Rosco tomorrow lunchtime so won't get chance then. Cheers

Good evening all,

Tonight JackFace and I were able to continue the game we started a week ago (thanks for hosting it Dan). Play resumed with 32 tiles left (which unfortunately was a little more than we actually got down to, but this was the most recent save we had). I'm pretty sure neither of us had a good idea how we were performing with the unique scoring system for the league, which made it pretty difficult to know where it was most economical to use our remaining meeples. Despite a minor technical hitch due to a lost connection, we managed to finish the game. I'm pretty sure things were rather finely poised and points in each of the 4 categories could have gone either way in addition to overall points. Crucially, I had a couple of tower bases remaining whilst JackFace didn't have any, so I could be confident in my meeple placement that they couldn't be captured. The battle for the main farm continued and eventually we ended up sharing the spoils (worth 39 points each). Several of my meeples were skilfully trapped, whilst I ruined a potentially valuable city with a cathedral as it remained unfinished. JackFace drew most of the cloisters and took full advantage towards the end, creating an unassailable lead in this category, so I used the last one to try and reclaim the majority in the main farm but it didn't work out as JackFace drew the CCFF I needed with just 2 tiles remaining. On placement of the final tile, we were just 1 point apart, before final scoring. Overall, a very enjoyable game of two (unequal) halves - thanks very much for playing.

Final result (à la TheSteve):

Here's a link to those cheap Geeknson tables (branded MobyGeek) Decar mentioned which I was tempted with at the event price of £200 http://themobygeek.com/index.php?option=com_quix&view=page&id=13&preview=true&layout=iframe&tmpl=component

Airecon have just released attendance figures for this year which has shown another significant increase as seen in previous years:
2019 = 2,017 unique visitors and 4,003 footfall
2018 = 1,593 unique visitors and 2,944 footfall
2017 = 638 unique visitors and 1,308 footfall
For comparison, last year (2018) UKGE was 21,698 unique and 39,106 overall (up from 16,383 and 30,743 in 2017).

Finally, here's a date for your diary - the Airecon 6 will be held 13-15 March 2020 at the Harrogate Convention Centre.

JackFace and I started playing our game tonight, but unfortunately with about 26 tiles left the online server had had enough and decided we couldn't finish our game.
I'd been saving it periodically just in case we had an issue, but now I need to rely on someone performing some technical magic (if it's possible) and hopefully resume another night.
It's a real shame as it was shaping up to be a really tense finish - I was running low on meeples but had managed to finally get a foothold in the main farm (once Jack ran out of tower pieces).
Screenshot attached showing how things looked just before it crashed.

Great write up Decar as always (+1 merit). I had a really fab couple of days with you both, thanks very much for letting me join you. Was also pleased to have played quite a few new (to me) games - there's definitely a couple I'm looking to buy!

Would happily return again next year 13-15th March 2020 (pencilled in the diary already), but it's worth noting for others, this con is mainly about socialising and playing games rather than buying lots of stuff which was a rather nice change tbh. Can't belive we both carted loads of games there with us, only to play a couple of them - that library, whilst not huge, was really good.

Think I've got board game convention fever as I really missed not playing a game today... can't wait for UKGE in a couple of months.

After having a nosey through the window at the local board game shop (more a toy shop tbh), we managed to grab a seat at geeknson's mini (think cheap) gaming table, which I'm quite seriously considering buying, but I'm sure the missus will soon put a stop to that. Played Whistlestop and Carcosa before leaving as they closed for the night. Can't wait for more games tomorrow.
