Title: Bug report with skip feature
Post by: khalidqasrawi on October 09, 2015, 03:53:12 PM
Observed with JCloisterZone 3.1.1 in 2 player play, one Windows machine, one Ubuntu.
Expansions in use: Inns & Cathedrals, Abbey and Mayor, Mage & Witch

This issue occurs when it is player A's turn to place a meeple or an abbey tile.  Player A will see the skip button as well as the meeple or abbey tile whereas player B does not see the skip button as it is not his / her turn.  If player B presses space or enter (keyboard equivalent of pressing skip), then the meeple or abbey tile placement is skipped giving player A no chance to place their piece.

I'd say this is a high priority bug as it will cause player conflict.  I found it because my playing partner accidentally skipped my abbey placement but it seems that the issue is wider.

Please contact me if further explanation is required.

Ha ha, well spotted khalidqasrawi. I've tried to do the same thing and found I could.

Unless it's fixed in the near future, I'm totally going to exploit this to prevent anyone else from using their Abbey the next time I'm losing a weekly game (i.e. the next time there is a weekly game). >:D

Yes but be sure to realise that the problem is not restricted to Abbeys.  You can skip any of your opponent's placements of meeples, mayor, barn etc.  Not sure if it's dependant on the meeple confirmation options.

Didn't we talk about this the other night Dan - should have checked,I'm sure I've had this happen in the past.

Ah no, cheeky space bar play.  Wonder if other things suffer with this!

Does it happen in 3.3.1?

I was using 3.3.1 when testing.  I'm sure I've seen people complaining that they could place their meeples etc. in forum activity.
