With the introduction of 'The Circus' / 'Under The Big Top' a full core meeple set consists of 20 meeple!
Base Game (new edition): 8 standard meeples, 1 abbot
Inns & Catherdrals: 1 Big meeple
Traders & Builders: 1 Builder, 1 Pig
Abbey & Mayor: 1 mayor, 1 wagon , 1 Barn
Hills & Sheep: 1 Shepherd
Under the Big Top: 1 Ringmaster
The Messengers: 1 Messenger
The Robbers: 1 Robber
& 1 Phantom
So my question is: What other components do you use when playing Official Carcassonne expansions? And what better way that to ask you than a Forum Poll?
You're able to select more than one thing, so let us know what you do!
Just to be clear - I'm interested in how you pimp Official Expansion of Carcassonne. Perhaps we can have another poll about fan-expansions very soon.
Do you use wooden tokens for Trade Goods (Wine,Grain,Cloth) rather than the chits?
Do you pimp your Game Structures (Bridges, Tower blocks, Ferries, Big Top)?
Do you use custom Tokens for The King & Robber Baron tiles?
Do you use custom Meeple for those special-meeple: Fairy, Dragon, Mage, Witch, Count, Teacher?
Perhaps you just use the core meeple and don't make any modifications?
Have a vote above and let us know what you do for your Official Carcassonne Expansions.
..also Did I miss anything?

To get things rolling,
I just use my Core Meeple set and use custom structures for Bridges and Ferries from Basically Wooden.
I've never found a convincing set of Trade Goods and happy to use tokens from the game else where (with the exception of Basically Wooden's Castles).
-
Nice poll, but I think it misses one very important option: I don't pimp anything :)
-
Just the Core Meeple then ;)
-
I have Ferries from Basically Wooden, wooden tokens for Trade Goods and official stickers on my core set of meeples (8 normal meeples, a big meeple and a pig). BTW, these stickers are worth to be included as a separate option, IMO.
-
Consider Stickers Added :)
-
I have special large pink pigs for the 2 pig tiles (River II and GQ11 FFFF tiles). I figure that fits along with the sheep in #6.
-
I use a chariot instead the pig for the WoF, and change the teacher for the school. Of course I've added a lot of things for the fan-made expansions. :black1-meeple:

Interesting poll! :(y)
If I'm playing base game only I will often use character meeples from meeplesource as I have about 40 different sets (including my special "danisthirty" meeples ;) ). But this gets a bit clumsy if you start to include expansions that introduce extra meeples as they don't do matching character meeples for any of the special pieces (pig/ builder/ barn etc).
I'll normally use custom resource tokens (meeplesource), King & Robber Baron scoretrack markers (also meeplesource) and Bridges and Castles from Basically Wooden if the occasion presents itself. I have stand-ins for the dragon, fairy, mage, witch, count, teacher etc but rarely have the opportunity to use them...
-
I have only one king marker and a robber marker for the old version (and I'm very happy the new version has them)... I'm a purist! ;D
(I have also a full set of meeple for 6 with the stickers... but only for collection!)

It's great to see the wide varieties of ways people are pimping their wood! :(y) :(y)
It would be great to see a few photos of the components you replace :(y) :(y)

King and robber from meeplesource.com. These are placed on the largest city and longest road to ensure we all know what we need to improve on to get the King and robber tiles.

I Love adding wooden bits to my collection ive added quite a few nl.
*Resource Tokens (Traders and Builders)
*Sheep (Hills and Sheep)
*Castles (Bridges,Castles and Bazaars)
*1 Custom mega meeple for each set (Original Mega is used on scoring track)
*Custom Scoring Tokens
*A few other extras for Fan Expansions(Canon,House,Churches,Sticks,Windmills etc)
*Custom wooden storage box for my new art carcassonne
Love this thread topic, we just need more images :) have quite a few other wooden bits (Spielmaterial,Meeple Source) and expansion in new art form on the way(The Tower, King Count Robber from Cundco) Will add images when i recieve them.

Decar maybe you should check out Spielmaterial as they last week started stocking 'small barrels' half the size of mine below, if you take the small brown barrels, yellow grain, red commodity bag and orange sticks from spielmaterial Catan range 5mm/5mm/25mm (For the fan made like the forest) then it makes for a great game.

No pimping from me. Except for official pimped accessories, such as the metal tokens for 7 Wonders: Duel, I rarely use anything non-standard in my games. I am just not much of a fan. Often the quality is lower or piece size doesn't work in certain situations. I did apply the stickers to my Wheel of Fortune set of tiles, but that was it and I don't ever use those meeples.

I think you were meant to apply them to the meeple, not the tiles! ;D
I'm quite amazed at how many modifications people prefer to use. Structures and Trade Goods seem to be the most popular, but even smaller things aren't far behind!

Here are my pimps! I think most of these are from official (or at least bonus promos, etc.).

A Pig from the game, Pass the Pigs!
Bridge from Basically Wooden
Castle for the Castle tile (not sure thats what it is actually called)!
Various pimps for Little Buildings!
The 'Castle' from basically wooden is what we use for the mid sized buildings. The other two plastic bits were from a cheap thrift copy of Disneyland Monopoly, (it was good for something) :)
Don't love the plastic but I do like the 3D elements.

I just received the fabric bundles today with an on-line order and they are from Stonemaier Games. They look like they would take paint so I'll see if I can add some colour to these.
The Barrels are from Meeple Source, (these are included in a set that I purchased and is intended for the game, Glenmore).
The Wheat sheaves are from the newly released, Agricola: Family Edition.
The scale on all of these work quite well in-game.
Cheers,

Merit for your photos franks! Very clear!

Just the Core Meeple then ;)
FWIW, I read the poll the same way: "How Do you Pimp your Meeple? Just the Core Meeple" would mean I pimp just the Core Meeple." Might be more clear if the first option said something like "I don't pimp anything."

Yes, thanks Bill, it's a bit late to change it now unfortunately, as it was unclear.
Thankfully most people have put a note explaining their choices, which helps immensely!

I absolutely Love Carcassonne Central!
I just began my journey in with Carcassonne this week, and I am already highly addicted.
Reading all these awesome posts has inspired a plethora of ideas, and blasted my excitement levels beyond words.
Thank you for having such a wonderful website!

!! I just recently pimped my Colt Express game.
For Carcassonne, the dragon looks cool. The witch and count are too friendly looking for my taste though.

I Didn't think it was worth a new thread but I finally got to painting the Cloth bundles shown above. I used some Games Workshop paints with Blood Red, Black and a Red wash.
I think they will do!
