Udo Schmitz - on Tour 2016 - Australia and New Zealand
« on: October 03, 2016, 11:21:29 AM »
Udo Schmitz (Carcassonne-on-Tour) was on Tour this year - 2x in New Zealand and 1x in Australia.

Australia
Udo Schmitz visited harvster and he played with the game group some Carcassonne games also the prototype Carcassonne-Amazonas.
As always Udo had some gifts for the fans.

New Zealand:
Udo Schmitz visited his daughter and AndrewTheAmbo.
Also he has found some nice shops and game cafés.

The meeples were also on Tour with Udo - for example in a village of the hobbits.

At last I have access to the photos from back in August when Annika Schmitz and her partner, Jo, came to visit me in dank, rainy Christchurch, New Zealand. Despite my lovely Carcassonne bag and other components sitting on the table, we actually did not play any games in the Carcassonne series or even from Hans im Glück! Instead, we played 7 Wonders (from Repos) and Scoville (from Tasty Minstrel Games). They enjoyed both quite a lot. As a gift, they got me a copy of Castles in Germany with autographs from Doris Mäthaus and Klaus-Jürgen Wrede, and a copy of German Monasteries, which I will probably gift to somebody since I already own two copies of that expansion. They also got us a few Meeple hat pins and two Meeple luggage tags, both of which were very cute.

All-in-all, it was a fun, albeit quick, visit by them. My sister-in-law was visiting a few days later and we had a bunch of pressing deadlines before then, so we did not have as much time to hang out with Annika and Jo as we would have liked. All the same, we had fun and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Annika and her boy friend are back in Germany since Friday.
They were very happy to come home and they are also happy to meet so such friendly people and members of CarcC in New Zealand.
On Friday Udo has organized a "welcome home party" for Annika with friends and family.
