Title: Abbey And Mayor - New Edition
Post by: Decar on June 21, 2016, 12:20:52 PM
Looks like it's time to start the next cycle.

Bonsom over on Carc-F posted the German cover of the new edition of Abbey & Mayor.

I think he looks rather jolly; and at least there are no miniature dragons and giants on the cover.

Let's hear your thoughts!

I didn't know Santa Claus was a pimp.

One of the old Christmas movies that gets played every year has puppets and the villain is "The Burgermeister-Meisterburger".  I didn’t realize he was the mayor.

Same. I've not seen Princess expansion here either. We always get both versions, the English and the Scandinavian edition and always in par with the German release date. But so far, nothing which have me worried (just a little).

Looks ok to me.

Z-man has recently been acquired by Filosofia, I think this has caused some delay in publication. It also seems Pliad Hat Games is related somehow in this; they are running Zman's online shop.

It's the same guy as the first edition, just somewhat older and he smiles..

He obviously hasn't read this post (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=1362.msg17129#msg17129) from whaleyland. He'd have nothing to smile about if he had...

It still seems strange to me that these aren't being released in order, but I like the cover of this box and will certainly be buying it as soon as I can with English rules (or German if I get bored of waiting).

Update: Turns out that the Scandinavian edition of Princess is actually available, but so far only found in two mail order stores here in Sweden. This makes things weirder, that it actually has been released but no local stores has it yet.

As usual, it's 10 Euro (15 with shipping), so not that bad and I might order it.

EDIT: One of the stores offer both English and Scandinavian edition, same price whichever I choose.

Nice. Though we still haven't got P&D in english yet? So this could be a while for me. Luckily I don't have much interest in P&D, so c'mon on A&M quicker. I guess this defiantly means the Tower is skipped, likely catapult too. So Bridges or Hills next?

I'm sure the Tower is coming - For a start this box is still labeled No.5

Not really interested in the tower, just thought I remembered people talked about it being maybe skipped.

It does seem odd to me to skip the tower (even temporarily) considering they are still numbering the expansions. I suppose it also makes sense to release the more popular expansions first as well though, so that people can get to the expansions they want more quickly. I just think it might cause some confusion amongst some of the more casual players perhaps?

As for the artwork, I quite like it. Certainly an improvement on the P&D box art. I like the fact they've kept all the features from the expansion on the box as well.

I'm impressed with how quickly they've been releasing the expansions so far. I just hope the UK publishers catch up with the release schedule soon so that people who are waiting for these don't have to wait too long!

It might be, that there are more Towers then A&M-copies of the old edition still in stock. (CundCo lists both as still available, but this does not say much. I'd assume, they have very limited stock at least of A&M.) Then it would make perfect sense to reprint first what gets OOP.

English version box art.

At least they didn't call it 'Keys to the City' or 'Get on the Wagon' to match the new expansion name trend.
