Maybe we may need one for v4.6.1 and another for v5.7.X.  ;)

Not sure. Farin told that support for old one will be dropped after new one will works. It will use different approach and this need two different servers.

Ok. Although it is not the latest version, I have a soft spot for v4.6.1, as it can run anywhere without an installation program.

Understood. But there are some issues in game some barn issues, shepherd issues etc. Which are solved in 5.x and I guess they will be never be fixed in 4.x. anyway when server will be dropped. only issue for 4.6.1 will be AI and internationalization (ok also game hints as farmer shapes on fields and points as at eng game - but this is no church problem to add this but it was not priority as @farin  said.
