Title: Biggest game you've played?
Post by: wallaceprime on May 02, 2022, 08:49:04 AM
Yesterday my son and I finished printing and sticking a whole bunch of forest and additional ocean tiles.
Today, we had our biggest game: we started with 497 tiles and it took 3 hours 15 minutes.
I think we could add another 100 to 150 tiles if we added the last felt-covered segment to our table.
What do the rest of you play your really big games on?

Nice game :yellow-meeple:

The biggest I've played was recently with 612 tiles, with my wife. The game included every official major, mini and promo C2 tiles (510 tiles), plus every C1 that doesn't exist in C2 (102 tiles), no fan expansions (but only one monasteries expansion). They're listed in the screenshot below  :yellow-meeple:

Biggest one ever for me was about 540 tiles, back when that was basically all I owned haha
We spread it over a couple of days actually.

Full report can be found here (https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=3219.0)

My biggest game in terms of tiles played I think it was a 1 vs 1 against my sister on March 11. It included:
- Base game (including abbotts and fields)
- River I
- Inns and Cathedrals
- Traders and Builders
- The Princess and the Dragon
- Abbey and the Mayor (no barns)
- Count, King and Robber (including River II but no City of Carcassonne)
- Hills & Sheep (no shepherds)
- Flying Machines
- The Messages
- The Ferries
- Mage and Witch
- The Goldmines
- The Robbers
- Crop Circles
It was a nightmare game that lasted something like 6 hours and in the end both of us hated Carcassonne with all ourselves! Final result was 676 - 469.

A real game of Carcassonne is played without any fan rules or expansions, but with the all oficial expansions and can last even 24 hours. Those who hate full Mega-Carcassonne (only with official rules) hate, in fact, the Carcassonne game.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. KJW himself suggests playing with two expansions at a time, so Mega-Carc is not the only real game.

If you check most of large expansion, almost all of them are combination of three minis:
I&C:inns + Cathedrals + Large meeple
T&B:builder + pig + trade tokens
P&D: princess + dragon + magic portal
Tower is exception
And so on...

I think that suggestion is about count of tiles in game which determines time to finish game

So up to two large expansions, we are on game with +- 100-110 tiles and game can be finished in to 1 hour.

In this time everybody enjoy it, are not bored or unsatisfy with their count of points during game and usually still possible to fight for winning the game.

We are playing three scenarios:

1. Fight - standalone game
2. Leasure game - one or two larges and up to three minis
3. MegaCarc - when nobody has to come to visit and we know that table can be taken for game for up to two days :)

I beg you pardon? Last thing I was expecting: to be personally attacked 4chan-style because... I jokingly said I hated ONE (1) game of Carcassonne? Holy cow. The only real Carcassonne is mega-Carcassonne? Are you even for real? Don't bother replying tho, this is my last post on this forum. Bye.

Lucky we didn't say anything about the dirty knife... (sorry, obscure reference to Monty Python)

Of course, there's Paul's World Record (https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=2382) 10007 tiles from 2016, but it wasn't a game I played in ...

A while ago now, but I've played three games of Mega Carcassonne that included all of the currently available tiles at the time:

And not quite the same thing, because it wasn't a single game, but a few of us from the forum met up to play a "Carcathon" a few years ago. We made a timelapse video:

Congrats Chris - that looks epic! :(y)

My largest game was probably a game we played between 7 of us in Rugby in 2015. We included 3 basegames and some unofficial/ fan expansions which probably brought the total up to a mere 240(ish)? It went on for a very long time though, and isn't something I'd repeat in a hurry!

Those who hate full Mega-Carcassonne (only with official rules) hate, in fact, the Carcassonne game.

Really? It would have been handy to have known, 10 years ago, that I actually hated what I was about to pretty much dedicate my life to for the next decade. Thank goodness you were here to know better!

Hi JT Atomico, good to hear from you.  I still have that T-shirt, but the phone died years ago!

I have played many games in the 200 to 300 tile range, 3, 4 or 5 players.  The more players the better the game so that it is not just 2 players trying to glomm farmers into the biggest farm+barn.
