Well done ny1050220, it looks like you were very successful with cities!

Hard luck Carcking, but well done for getting your first game in!  :red-meeple: :(y)

The game did not occur.

I was unexpected detained on the way home.  Got home almost a half hour after the game time.

I emailed an apology to carcking, and asked if we can set another time.

Thanks for an update, kettlefish!
From 6 outstanding matches there are 2 crucial ones: Carcking vs. jma03 and Carcking vs. MrNumbers. All three of us can still pretend on winning the group.

BTW, I just noticed that one name is misspelled: berichio = berchio.

From 6 outstanding matches there are 2 crucial ones: Carcking vs. jma03 and Carcking vs. MrNumbers. All three of us can still pretend on winning the group.

Our group just became a 2-horse race (not that I'm suggesting either MrNumbers or jma03 are horses of course)...

Although Carcking and I felt very evenly matched throughout the majority of the game, it has to be said that he had a bit of luck at the start of the game and quickly got the huge, incomplete city to within 1 tile of completion before I'd drawn a single tile capable of being used to mess with him. After this, things settled down a bit, the scores evened out a little and we stayed within 10 - 20 points of each other for the rest of the game.

Carcking was first to place his barn and the opportunity to go for the same spot had tempted me also. However, because he got there first I was forced to find somewhere else to drop mine and this worked out well for me as I could expand my barn farm relatively easily whereas Carcking's barn farm was fairly modest in size serving just 3 cities.

Much of the battle was for the big city. Carcking was playing the long game as he needed a cccr tile to merge 2 adjacent cities into it and win control. I could have used my abbey to block him out and retain control of what was left of the city but this would have completed 2 of his cities and returned 2 meeples to him in the process so I was reluctant to do this even though it would have expanded my barn farm by 2 cities. Eventually he drew the required cccr tile and took control of the city. Twice I tried to tie him but twice he foiled my evil plans and the city remained his until the end of the game for 23 points.

Towards the very end of the game, I still wasn't sure who'd won (and still refuse to use the predicted points feature) but one extra city won us 12 points each. On top of this, the city was also on my barn farm (+4), and another farm (+3) and I placed another farmer when I completed the city (+3) so I won an additional 10 points for it and this helped to steady my nerves as the last few tiles went down.

Overall it was a great game. As I mentioned earlier, Carcking and I were very evenly matched and it's a shame that one of us had to lose. On this occasion my barn saved my bacon, and my 12-point farm at the top certainly helped too.

That's me finished now. 3 wins, 3 losses and a fairly strong points differential (+108). Carcking is hoping to play both rfielder and jma03 tomorrow so we'll have just 2 games left to play after that. Good luck to all involved!  :) :(y)

This was my last game.
an intense and complicated game from the beginning to the end.
I could connect my farm from the beginning and carcking wanted to join but I was able to place a monastery, then my abbey for this not to happen.
he could close a castle and try to close another part of the game but I was expecting a CCFF floors and could not so it could join .
beautiful game .

I kind of didn't want to do this as I enjoyed jma03's "screenshot" too much, but since I was able to take some more detailed screenshots directly from the laptop (I hosted) I've posted them below:
