Just a crazy idea, but if anyone wants to PM or email me their predictions for this round in terms of who will be the winner/ loser of each match (of if it will be tied) then I could track “most correct predictions” as well as everything else and run this as a side-competition?
Predictions themselves would be kept between me and you as I don’t want to risk offending anyone who finds out that 10 people bet that they would lose their match against whoever. But I could do a summary of correct predictions per round along with the end of round summary. Like I said, it’s just an idea, but if you’re interested do get your predictions in to me before the results start flooding in...

I've sent my bet bulletin, let's see if doesn't end in a huge match fixing scandal ;D ;D ;D >:D >:D >:D.

Rosco has suggested that he will be free this evening so I'm hoping we can play then.
Is anyone else playing or speaking with their opponent to arrange their match times? I'm a little concerned that we're almost halfway through the round and nobody has played any games yet! ???

Yep, Adrornalin and I have our games scheduled tomorrow night at 21:30.
-
I exchanged messages with Khalid but unfortunatly my weekend went from slow to crazy in one trip to IKEA, so I missed his availability.
We should be able to arrange something during the week.

So a nice win for me on our first game. I was surprised TBH as Dan was seriously keeping me at bay! He started really poorly through no fault of his own with road after road after road! But suddenly his luck changed and he got everything and i mean everything i needed. But a little luck went my way and I sealed the win!

A very curious thing occurred at the end of my second game with Rosco; something for which I was completely unprepared. I don't know if it was a bug in JCloisterZone or quite what, but at the end of the game when the final scores were calculated it turned out that the total number of points scored by me was actually slightly higher than the sum of the points score by my opponent! ???
I had to look up what this meant and eventually found some obscure reference suggesting that I had "won (http://www.dictionary.com/browse/won?s=t)" the game and in doing so had become a "winner (http://www.dictionary.com/browse/winner)" of that particular game. Obviously this is a concept of which I am totally unfamiliar but apparently it seems as though "winning" is something that should be strived for.
Screenshot attached below. Final scores were 112 - 81 in my favour. So overall the match was 1 - 1 and both Rosco and I won the games in which we got to place the first tile.

Game 1 Chooselife :yellow-meeple: 92 : 95 :red-meeple: khalidqasrawi
Game 2 khalidqasrawi :red-meeple: 133 : 90 :yellow-meeple: Chooselife
Game 1
Not quite sure how I scraped this win. I was losing all the time. He started very strong but I trapped 1 or 2 of his meeples. I won a small farm but only just and he had good farm fragments too.
Game 2
A stronger win for me. I was ahead most of the game and then placed 2 crucial CCCR tiles to complete lots of features and return most of my meeples for the end game.

Told you one day in the chat I was looking for the English equivalent of "Bête noire" in French. I finally found it.
First I found some occurences of the untranslated expression in English texts: bete noire (in italic and without accent) so it appears that it is used in English too. Then after digging a little bit further, I found nemesis! If not equivalent, then it's very very close, like in the expression "Rosco is your Carcassone nemesis". ;D

Everyone is my Carcassonne nemesis.

Everyone is my Carcassonne nemesis.
Including Adda? ;D

Marcos had a lot of trouble with the internet connection and smartphone battery.
We played with the Android App.
So no screenshots, only the result:
First Game
GLH510 vs Marcos
162 : 103
Second Game
Marcos vs GLH510
77:123
Thank you Marcos that you tried everything to make the games possible.

Mixed feelings about these 2 games.
Adrornalin played very well! but at the same time it seems that I just couldn't get the tiles I needed tonight.
Starting player in bold

thanks for the games. yep first game was quite even, I was lucky with the CCCR in the shared city and with the last RRFF to connect us both to the shared farm. second game you could have won with clearly more points difference, but last CRFR and last two RRRF came to me. no big trapping at all because we both were aware of critical situations and found always some options to escape. good luck for the rest of league, jere!
-
Two games I won, one with a lot of luck and one with not so much. All the time my meeples seemed to be trapped they somehow got out, nice! As MrNumbers put it "I´ve never seen anyone so lucky with everything" or something like that >:D
I can´t seem to upload the screenshots, hmm. Will edit later, just for results then;
First Game: MrNumbers 72 - WhatIf 98
Second Game: WhatIf 103 - MrNumbers84
-
Good games in which I took the lead in both and was able to keep ahead for 2-0.
Thanks for the games Hounk.
Halfling :yellow-meeple: 117
Hounk :green-meeple: 103
Halfling :yellow-meeple: 131
Hounk :green-meeple: 114

Two more "home" wins (which means that after two rounds there are no more undefeated players left in the league):
1. :violet-meeple: Leven vs :black1-meeple: TheSteveAllen 99:74
2. :black1-meeple: TheSteveAllen vs :violet-meeple: Leven 102:91
My trapping strategy worked well in the first game, but not so much in the second one where Steve had a considerable lead through the whole game and I just wasn't able to catch him up, despite the fact that he had no more followers in his supply for his last 5 or 6 tiles. With some well-placed tiles Steve successfully prevented me from joining another follower to the big farm, so my only hope for winning the game was the last FFFF cloister tile but in the end it was Steve's final tile.
I assume these results give Merlin_89 the opportunity to regain ELO leadership.

Wow, great stuff everyone. It feels like quite an achievement that we’re almost ready for round 3 already and we’re not even into week 4 yet! 8) :(y)
@Halfling/ Hounk: I like to think I could put Columbo out of a job with my l33t detective skills but, just one more question: who started in each of your games? I need to know for the stats but there isn’t anything to suggest either way from your screenshots so I’m a bit stumped…
@Merlin_89/ Rich_The_Fish: any idea when your match is likely to take place? I will follow this up with a PM just to make myself more difficult to avoid, but I thought I’d ask here too.
Thanks for being awesome everyone. Keep up the good work! :D
-
Don't worry Dan, scheduling in progress. I expect to play my match against Rich_The_Fish on Sunday. Anyone up for a friendly before then?
-
This looks a great idea. Will be keeping tabs on this ready to join in a future one! :(y)

Excellent! Thanks for letting me know. :)
I might have a game lined up for this evening already, but I'll be sure to check the chat room if I'm at a loose end...
-
Hi Dan,
Hounk started the 1st match.
Regards Halfling

It's a wrap for round 2! Sorry for taking my time...
Game 1: 38 Rich_The_Fish :red-meeple: (Home match) - Merlin_89 :yellow-meeple: 80
Game 2: 105 Merlin_89 :yellow-meeple: (Home match) - Rich_The_Fish :red-meeple: 77
Both games, I was very effective (and lucky) in blocking Rich's meeples... he struggled and improved in 2nd game, but I kept using meeple advantage and he couldn't get out of that trap.
Can't say, this League is exciting, No1 ELO ranking reclaimed... ;D Round 3 awaits.

Hey! Updated Elo ratings have been posted HERE (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=3129.msg46916#msg46916) !
Yep, Merlin is back at the very top. Congrats!
Excellent round from What If! (to the detriment of MrNumbers, sorry!)
maedac is now known as Marcos

Thanks so much everyone for another successful round! C:-)
Here are the standings after 2 rounds:
Congratulations to glh510 who is our leader so far. Will he still be at the top of the board at the end of the next round or might Merlin_89 or Halfling spring ahead of him? Or anyone else for that matter as we've already seen that nobody is unbeatable!
And here are the round 2 stats (brought to you by the colour purple because it's awesome):
3104 points scored in this round compared to the 3148 scored in round 1. Also worth noting that the average winning score at the end of round 1 was also 109, and there has been little movement in the average losing scores and win margins too. And finally, 68.75% of games in this round were won by the player who went first! :o
And lastly but not leastly, here are the scores for those of us who had a guess at what the round 2 match outcomes might be. This just goes to show how unpredictable this game can be!
Chooselife: 1/8 (12.5%) correct
danisthirty: 3/8 (37.5%) correct
Jéré: 4/8 (50%) correct
Right. Onwards and upwards. Time for Round 3 (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=3172)! :) :(y)
