CundCo Shop - coming soon with new system and navigation
I've got an email from CundCo:
In a few days, we're going with a new Carcassonne & co online shop launched! A new system, better navigation, everything seems fresh and contemporary. And finally there will be an English-language version.
We like to refresh the product descriptions for all of our products. Some descriptions of the mini expensions are thin or aren't saying anything important. And who could be better to bring the benefits of the various mini expensions to the point as the Carcassonne fan community?
If you like to help us with a small descriptions for each mini expansion that would be great. If you feel like so, then could you formulate 2-3 sentences for each mini expension about describing what makes the mini expension? It conveys only a first impression... We would be happy, if you could support us there!

Are the 2012 mini-expansions also being described? If so, I have the following as a quick test of the water to see what kind of description they're after...
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a flying meeple! Now your meeples can take to the skies and land you some points by flying onto any incomplete feature (even if it's occupied). Place the tile to plan your flight path and roll the dice to see where you land. Nothing is safe from the fliers so keep an eye on the sky and build your features carefully...

Mage & Witch:
The Mage and the Witch have come to Carcassonne. One of them is only too happy to increase the value of your roads and cities, but the other will halve them. Every time you place one of the eight Mage & Witch tiles, you may move either the Mage or the Witch to any incomplete feature. Boost your own score or annoy your opponents? The choice is yours!
-
The Festival:
How better to celebrate our favourite game’s 10th birthday than with this 10-tile mini expansion? There are lots of good reasons to include The Festival in your games of Carcassonne, but having the chance to take back a previously deployed meeple, instead of placing a new one, whenever you place one of these special tiles makes this especially useful for rescuing trapped meeples and annoying your “friends” who trapped them.

Dan you seem to be annoying a lot of your opponents with these expansions. Just like you annoy me when we play.
Just kidding, cool descriptions :)

Glad you like the descriptions jungleboy. Less glad that I don’t annoy you whenever we play as this is always my number 1 priority! Now I feel like such a failure... :(
-
The School:
Now your games of Carcassonne can start with a school rather than the usual starting tile. But how does anyone get to the school? That’s your job! Whenever you complete one of the six roads leading into the school, the teacher meeple will come to thank you in person. Any player with the teacher in front of them when any other player scores a feature wins an equal share of the points won and then returns the teacher to the school.

Here's a description for The Wind Roses:
Before your very eyes, the entire Carcassonne board becomes a giant compass! Know your North from your South, or your East from your West? With The Wind Roses, the race is on to match up special tiles with their correct compass points.

Will be there any reprint for expansion from Spielbox?

Will be there any reprint for expansion from Spielbox?
I think we'll have to wait and see what comes out of Spielfest before we find out the answer to this specific question. There's still the lingering question of if Hans im Glück is going to release the Spielbox expansions as a new boxed set. Or, for that matter, any of the currently unavailable expansions.
-
Given that they seem to have made their decision on Carc 1 v Carc 2 in favour of Carc 2 with the publication of new editions of I&C and T&B, it doesn't seem likely that they're suddenly going to come out with a new boxed set in the old artwork. Aren't the existing large expansions in the old artwork already becoming increasingly difficult to find?

Point. It actually begs the question: are they going to release any of the pre-Carc2 expansions on the new site? It doesn't really make sense to.

It does if they still have loads of them in stock and a potential Carc 1 fan-base who might be interested in buying any of them...

True, but there are other ways to unload old stock, including BGG, conventions, and local retailers (I.e., in Germany).

If they do sell both versions, it'll be interesting to see how HiG presents the two versions on the site because this would presumably represent their current thinking on the issue. Will the site lean heavily towards Carc 2 and its two big expansions, with a token link saying 'Oh by the way, if you like the original Carcassonne, click here'? Or will they stick with Carc 1 as the main selling point because there are so many more expansions (and thus potential further sales) available? Or will they all be mixed together as part of the 'the two versions are completely compatible because the backs are the same' fallacy*?
* Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallacy): A fallacy is the use of poor, or invalid, reasoning for the construction of an argument.
-
I think they will mix it together, maybe present a kind of filter to apply, if you want to search just for one or the other, but not really necessary. Most likely, if you go for the "big expansions", they just list it like that:
- Inns & Cathedrals (1st Edition)
- Inns & Cathedrals (2nd Edition)
- Traders & Builders (1st Edition)
- Traders & Builders (2nd Edition)
- Princess & Dragon (1st Edition)
- The Tower (1st Edition)
...etc. And as soon as the old stock is gone, it will disappear from the shop. But it really does not make sense, that they won't sell it officially, as long as they have it.
