My partner and I played a game last night that included the Mage and Witch mini, and the Tower.

I was on a rather impressive city, and the Mage was on the same tile as my knight. My partner placed a tower tile, added a tower, and captured my knight. I think she enjoyed the situation just a bit too much.....

My question - since the city now has no follower, does the Mage remain on the city, or is it removed from the board?

I look in the CAR, and the original rules, and this situation is not mentioned.

I think:

The mage and witch stay on the feature until its replaced.. so when a player draws a magewitch tile.

This is correct. The Mage and Witch are unrelated to followers, as they don't belong to anyone. Indeed, there's no rule that states that they have to be placed on a feature with a follower in the first place. Thus, the only time that they can move is when a tile with the mage/witch symbol is played.
