Title: Phantom and anniversary edition meeples
Post by: Sinscerly on November 01, 2017, 12:19:40 PM
As I own the anniversary edition, but sadly enough not own the Phantom.
Are the meeples the same or are there any differences between those two?

No, its the same meeples. Just the phantoms were released in meeple shaped boxes and in the 10th anniversary set you got 8 of each colour.
Also in the Phantom expansion you got 6 different colours; the purple Phantom was not in the 10th anniversary box

The phantoms are slightly thinner than normal meeples. I never got the anniversary set, so I don't know how they compare there.

There is a very subyle difference in he product process. But it's not discernable by a normal eye.  You could also grab some of the new transparent meeple from meeplesource too!

Sorry Decar, are you referring to Phantoms and Meeples from anniversary edition? Since they were both produced for 10 Jahre Jubiläum, I have always tought they came from the same production. Tonight I will check if I can discern any difference!!!

Yes that's right - there's a small difference in production.  The dye is applied in a different fashion, or the dyes are different chemically, I'm not totally sure.

I just compared the Phantoms and the Anniversary meeples, and the Phantoms were slightly thicker. The difference is minimal, and when comparing just two, I couldn´t tell the difference. But when I put 6 in a row, the difference was visible to naked eye. I tried to take some photos, but you can´t capture what you see with your own eye... But alas, here´s some photos for your own evaluation. The Phantoms are multicoloured, and Anniversary the blues. (In my opinion, the difference might as well be caused by deviation in the manufacturing process.)

Thank you Axelsson,
I see indeed that the Phantoms from you look thicker then your Anniversary meeples.

Merit to Axelsson for taking thw time to photograph these. Yoi can definitley see the blue is not the same too when they're side by side.

I have just made the same comparison. Honestly I cannot discern any difference, neither in thickness, nor in colour...

Aren't the meeples slightly transparent in the phantom edition?

Samool
The phantoms are plastic transparent meeples in each of the original colours.  The anniversary edition of the full game was an edition which can with 8 each of 5 different colours (like the original game) but they are coloured transparent plastic instead of wood.  It was a special edition.
