What do you think is the most desirable tile/expansion?

I know about the tile. This is the tile, after drawing it  you distinctly understand that the game is won by you  8).

Is a specific game I agree!  But I am more referring to most desirable/coveted in terms of your collection.

I find the Russians beautiful beyond compare with any other tile. They were a must-have for me, although I don't play them.

I think the Russian tiles are probably the most highly sought after but personally I don't find them very interesting.

In terms of most desirable expansion/ tile I'd probably go with the Spiel 14 - 17 tiles.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. Are you using 'tiles/expansion' to group together basically every promo or expansion that exists, from single-tile Spiel promos to 30-tile major expansions? I don't really think these are comparable - I would take any major expansion (non-Catapult division) over any of the 1-3 tile promos without any hesitation. The 1-3 tile promos don't really do anything for me because they barely affect gameplay and I'm not an uber completionist.

If it's more about what's desirable from a rarity-theme-art perspective, I'd say the Cathars was what I desired most.

The most desirable tiles are the siege tiles from Cathars, CS&C, and besiegers.   The mechanic has been implemented 3 times and all three of the expansions are $$$$$.   They are also a lot of fun to play with as opposed to say Tunnels, corn circles, or the Spiel tiles.

As far as the big 10 expansions go.  We play with Hills & Sheep and Traders & Builders the most.  I also really like Princess and Dragon, but could probably live without the rest.

I chose the Spiel tiles because they're quite collectible and I like the designs on them. No special rules or extra gameplay...

Me too... for the new edition it's my same choise and I add the labirinth tile.

For the old edition a must have for me are the german castles and the halfling. I know, there are some complications with the rules, but I really like how them fits into the landscape.

Ugh seriously?  I have chosen not to deal with Cundco's Xmas nonsense and you 2 are talking about how great the Spiel tiles are.  I'm not giving in.    :P

Well of course nobody is really limited to just one expansion, but if they were then I think the easy answer is Inns & Cathedrals. It really is the completion of the base game (and was largely designed at the same time).

While I like the wood in Traders & Builders, the tiles and tokens don't do much for me. I find them a bit fiddly, and aesthetically kind of brute force.
My stuff: The Caverns of Carcassonne | Wheel of Fortune versions | True North (wind roses) | Icon facelifts | Converting CII to CI | Signposts & the Château | The Vault | Riverboats & the Whirlpool | trade list

Some great answers!  For me I think it's the  rare but obtainable ones.  I enjoy the search and often get hold of something else interesting in the process.

I would love the newer 2 Russian tiles but it just seems completely impossible so I guess that's not going to happen.  But others were possible.  Most desirable in terms of art - I would say, are the German castles or the cathedrals.

Most desirable, I'd say: Kathedrals in Germany, as I live in Dresden  :) and also Castles in Germany comes close as "Festung Köngsstein" is nearby .
