Big box 2016 rule clearification - abbot

I draw ONE of these tile a place em according to the normal rules.
The question is
- Do i HAVE to put my abbot (or regular) meeple on the monastry or garden?
- Or can i chose wether to put a abbot on the garden/monastry OR a regular meeple on the field as a peasant or robber on the road.
- or can i chose wether if i want to place the abbot or regular meeple or no meeple at all??

Placing meeple is never obligatory. You do not have to.
You can always choose which kind of meeple to put from your available pool.
Still garden can be occupied only by abbot.
Monastery by abbot or regular meeple.
Other features just by regular meeples.

Sry, ive struggled 15 mins to get a image uploaded at all.

But the picture is of 2 seperate tiles
Tile 1 contains a monastry and a road leading up to the monostary
Tile 2 contains a city and a garden.

But thank you for the clearification.
So it is always OPTIONAL if i want to place a meeple (includeing the abbot)

Can someone just confirm so we are 100% sure?

Yes it's always optional.

Except with one expansion. but thats for another time

It is always* optional to place any meeple.

* some expansions’ rules (e.g., Crop Circles) require the placement of a meeple but the intention of these rules is debated and/or inconsistent between languages.
