General / Re: Tile Counting Apps/ Programs
« on: January 19, 2022, 10:50:01 AM »
I think that strategy and memorization are two different things, and you can have a very good strategy knowing all possible elements in the game (chess, to mention an example). In other words, memorization is not required to have a good strategic and competitive game. However, if only one player uses a helper (software, paper and pencil, or finger-counting) the competition will be unbalanced to some extent.

Strategy Guide / Re: Project 1A: Carcassonne Game Notation
« on: January 03, 2022, 10:36:14 AM »
As I mentioned to DIN0, I like this project. I think this notation is simple and fits very well in tournaments and solo-challenge games.

I am not a pencil and paper person, so, I developed a very simple web tool, mostly intended for smartphones, to help us to notate a Carcassonne game (base only as intended in DIN0's proposal) and export a game in a simple text file.

Hope it can be useful for some of you.

Best,

PD. next step perhaps is to create an interpreter, maybe!

Thanks Challa007! I agree with you, we as a community should make it more noticeable to them.

Maybe we can send this information (WICA link and mission) to HiG through all their channels, for sure they can start noticing that. And maybe to KJW, apparently, he loves what the community has done with this game.

Thanks for the transcript!

It seems that the merchants going to Leipzig need to go through villages to buy and sell new goods and have some rest... If they go through roads connected by trees, they may be robbed and have little rest when camping under the sky. ???

Hahaha, this post made me change my opinion and vote!  ;D

Good job Meepledrone! I like these "thematic" rules, very easy to explain.

Love the idea!  :red-meeple:

Official Rules / Re: New mini expansion: The Signposts
« on: November 30, 2021, 08:40:00 AM »
It should be in the singular, not plural (country). And no, it is not about HK, it was one weird flag that none of us in the discord channel could address which country represents

Official Rules / Re: New mini expansion: The Signposts
« on: November 30, 2021, 08:09:44 AM »
I like the idea of this mini, but I agree with all of you that the arrows are not spectacular.

I don't know, but I feel that since HiG hired the new designer, everything is quite different in the game's aesthetics.
- Font face
- Disproportionate watermarks
- Rounded titles
- Clipped cities
- Mamuts and sandwiches  :o
- Blue arrows in the 20th anniv.  :-X
- Flag of inexistent country
- Over cartoonized new cover (I really like it!  ;D )
- etc.
Maybe I am wrong, and the changes are more influenced by the "new" leadership of HiG; who knows.

I know it is easy to criticize and difficult to create, but I always remember that we are customers. Same in a restaurant, you complain if your food is cold or if it looks awful. The difference is that here they can easily ignore us ;D

Some of you could correctly think that there's no accounting for taste (as I show in my poll in BGG). However, introducing significant changes in a product intended to be collectible is a risky strategy. They experimented with the new art and faced a lot of complaints about it; even KJW prefers the old art, as he mentioned in an interview. Perhaps they did not learn about it, or maybe they realized that this is an excellent way to make more money  :o

Certainly, this is what most of us expected: https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=3497.0

Anyone knows if this spiel tile comes in the new rounded tiles, or in the perfect "old" square tiles.

Thanks!  :red-meeple:
