Dear all!

As requested by several of you last week, here you are a new quiz... If everything goes okay and you behave, I will be posting a new question each Sunday. Some sort of weekend passtime if you like... ;)

Enjoy!

Question #01: Red has two meeples left in their supply and these two gifts cards. If Red draws and places this tile, the player has the following questions:

a) Is it possible for Red to take over the city?
b.1) If possible, what sequence should Red follow?
b.2) If not possible, what sequence should Red follow to score some points for the city at least?
c) How many points would each player score?

It depends on how one interprets the initial statement: I interpreted it as: "Red has this tile in hand, not yet placed"

1) Yes it is!
b.1) Open the left gift, to allow his field meeple into the city cap on the same tile. THEN place the tile. THEN use the tile's feature to double-size his meeple.
c) in this case 0 :yellow-meeple:   12  :red-meeple:

:red-meeple: - nothing!

1) applying the rules of 10/2015:
12 tiles*2 for inn +3 (castle) +2*1 (little buildings)=29 points

2) sure, the city on the halfling adjacent works.

3)
3.1) 11 occupied spaces*2+3+2=27 points
3.2) The wagon could also move to the city on the Halfling occupying the same space as the one right next to it.

If Red places the tile as shown, and places his meeple on the road, Red will score 3 points for the road plus 3 points for the first completed castle feature.  He will also score 4 Ringmaster points for the neighboring Circus and Acrobat tiles. That is a total of 10 Red points.

If however Red decides to place the tile to continue the road at the top or right side of this image, he could place his meeple on top of the Red and Yellow Acrobats, completing the Acrobat feature which would score 10 points for Red and 5 points for yellow.  This makes his castle worth 15 points plus the 4 Ringmaster points.  Total score would then be 29 points for Red and 5 points for Yellow.

PS: I believe that if Red does place the tile and shown, and does not place a Meeple on the road, nobody scores any points!

If Red places the tile as shown, and places his meeple on the road, Red will score 3 points for the road plus 3 points for the first completed castle feature.  He will also score 4 Ringmaster points for the neighboring Circus and Acrobat tiles. That is a total of 10 Red points.

The trick here is to know what happens if Red closes the road as shown without placing a meeple (the player may have none left)...  >:D

In this scenario, I was interested in the scorings triggered during the current turn.

Two caveats in this case:
* Acrobat pyramids cannot be completed and scored right away.
* Acrobat pyramids do not trigger the scoring of any neighboring castles.

---

I won't disclose some other issues happening in this scenario. Don't want to spoil you the fun. ;)

PS: I believe that if Red does place the tile and shown, and does not place a Meeple on the road, nobody scores any points!

Ahhhhh! I love castles....  ;)

There are soooo many things hidden in the rules hidden in plain sight.... Many moments when you hear a click after re-reading the same words a thousand times. Every word counts... Every clarification is there for a reason...
Title: Re: Sunday Quiz 2022
Post by: OneEyedOwl on June 12, 2022, 07:00:22 AM
 :red-meeple: 10 Points
0 for the road with german cathedral, triggering castle scoring. the road is worth 6 points, so he gets 6.
4 additional points for the Ringmaster, due to surrounding features of 1 Circus and 1 Acrobat tile.

Question #09: Red receives this message. The player has the following questions:
a) Which monastery or monasteries can the player choose to apply the message?
b) How many points will the player score?

Title: Re: Sunday Quiz 2022

You can only choose one Monastery.  You will score 7 points for the one in the center and your Meeple will remain on the Monastery.
Title: Re: Sunday Quiz 2022
Post by: Meepledrone on June 19, 2022, 01:58:57 AM
Note the Message is "The Smallest Monastery". ???
Title: Re: Sunday Quiz 2022
Post by: OneEyedOwl on June 19, 2022, 02:49:34 PM
a) debatable. because he MUST choose the lowest scoring one, we can argue it to be 1. But then the wording of the rules using choose is redundant, thus one could argue the correct answer to be 2.
B) :red-meeple: 5 points. If it now was the end of the game, the monasteries would be incomplete, thus no vineyard bonus.

Here is one more question for you...
Title: Re: Sunday Quiz 2022
Post by: Meepledrone on July 03, 2022, 02:44:57 AM
Question #11: Yellow places this tile completing this city and two roads. The player has the following questions:
1) How many points does each player score?
2) Based on this scoring, is this placement a good decision for Yellow? (That is, is Yellow the player scoring the most points from this tile placement?)

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17481)

EDIT: Clarified the scope of question #2. Not trying to get a full analysis of possible options and considerations a player may check for a placement like this in a real game.
Title: Re: Sunday Quiz 2022
Post by: PapaGeek on July 03, 2022, 07:18:19 AM
I’ve never played with Watchtowers, so pardon me for taking a wild guess after reading what I believe the rules say:
Blue’s city meeple is on the watchtower tile and will get 8 points for the 4 meeples touching the Watchtower on the left side of the map.
Blue’s road meeple is on the second watchtower tile and will get 6 points for the 3 meeples touching the watchtower on the right side of the map.
Red and yellow do not have any meeples on the watchtowers.
Normal scoring will be 3 points for the Red road and 3 points for the Blue road.
Yellow controls the city with 7 tiles and one coat of arm for 16 points.
Total points will be 17 for Blue, 16 for Yellow, and 3 for Red.

This is not a great decision for Yellow, but Blue would have scored even more points if the CRFR tile, like the basic game start tile, was placed there.  The other thing to consider is that blue would have gotten zero points for his watchtower meeples if the city was never completed. So, a lot of the good or bad would depend on how many tiles remain to be played in this game.

I’ll be following this thread to see if I followed the Rules properly, and now I have another expansion that I will have to buy! Thanks?

Haha, is this: `Based on this scoring, is this placement a good decision for Yellow?` rule question?
We don't know, if Yellow has meeple in supply, we don't know, if it's end of game, etc.
So I'm curiours what is "correct" answer for this question :D

Ok. Please read the question as "Is Yellow the player scoring the most points from this tile placement?"
Title: Re: Sunday Quiz 2022
Post by: OneEyedOwl on July 03, 2022, 03:20:58 PM
1)

The tile placement would finish two road and a city. It would automatically finish the watchtowers as well. So we deal with that first:
 :blue-meeple: 8 Points for the left watchtower, 6 for the right. giving 14 points

now we deal with the rest:  :blue-meeple: 3 Point road, 0 Points for the city; :red-meeple: 3 point road; :yellow-meeple: 16 Point City.

that gives us a total of  :blue-meeple: 17;  :red-meeple: 3;  :yellow-meeple: 16

2) taking your Brackets into account, the answer is no. It can be a useful placement however, depending on the state of the game. e.g. if Yellow has no more meeples left, or it's near the end of the game and red has a slight advantage over yellow.

Red scores 4 Roads x 2 (for Inn) = 8 Points
Yellow scores 3 Roads = 3 Points

To the best of my knowledge, an Inn doesn't lend its bonus to a Bridge since the Bridge passes over the tile, not through it.

2) sure, the city on the halfling adjacent works.

That's incorrect. According to the original rules, you can only move your wagon to another feature which is directly connected to the feature your wagon is standing on. So, that means that you can only move your wagon to the German Castle.

1) Can Red send a meeple to Leipzig?

2b) If possible, how many points would each player score if Red sends one of their meeples to the Wainwrights quarter in Leipzig?

1) yes. there is a straight connection from the finished road to Leipzig, passing through villages.

2)
   2a) does not apply
   2b)  :red-meeple: 4 Tile Road, with Majority for  :red-meeple: gives 4 regular Points+ 4 Wainwrights Points. Neither  :blue-meeple: nor  :yellow-meeple: have a majority on the road, which is necessary for the Wainwrights bonus so  :blue-meeple: :yellow-meeple: both score 0

 :red-meeple: 8
 :blue-meeple: 0
 :yellow-meeple: 0

Completed road with 4 correct signposts and a land surveyor modifier for roads:

The road length does not matter, the road is worth 5 Points. We have 4 correct signposts of 2 different types, so 4*2=8 Points. This gives us a total of 13 Points

+3 points for scoring the fairy

Title: Re: Sunday Quiz 2022
Post by: OneEyedOwl on September 03, 2022, 09:05:52 AM
Assuming the blue meeple is on the church (and that the church has at least one more missing tile):

 :red-meeple: 4 points for abbot, (figure, not feature, scoring alterations do not apply) (+any amount of the occupied spaces not shown)

 :blue-meeple: 7 length road -3 modify: 4 points

 :red-meeple: scoring alteration applies to amount of meeple, not the scoring itself. 6 tile city, 1 COA, thus 14 Points

Total:  :red-meeple: 14
 :blue-meeple: 4
 :yellow-meeple: 0

If we take the Recommendation of flipping a meeple in a church on it's side, in other words, assume the blue meeple is in the City it changes to  :blue-meeple: 14

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17276)

Answer #01: Yellow has the majority in the city but Red wants to close the city and score points for it.

Red can take over the city by adding meeples to it. In order to do so, Red should open a Change Position gift as soon as the tile is drawn and move the Red Farmer from the field into the city. At this point, Red would share the city with Yellow when completed.

Since Red has two meeples in their supply, when Red places the tile, he should activate the Add Meeple symbol and add a second meeple to the city next to the farmer turned into a knight.

The completed city is worth 12 points ( (5 tiles + 1 coat of arms) x 2 points = 6 x 12 points )

Note:
* The Add Meeple action has no limitation if the target meeple is in a feature completed by the tile placement. The Place Meeple action in the 20th Anniversary Expansion has this limitation however, following the lead of magic portals: the Place Meeple action can only add a meeple to an uncompleted, unoccupied feature. The Add Meeple action does not require the meeple is added to an uncompleted feature when the tile is placed.

So the answer to the questions is as follows:
a) Yes, Red can take over the city.
b.1) The sequence to take over the city is:
   1) Open a Change Position gift to move the Red Meeple from the field to the city
   2) Add a Red Meeple form the supply next to the meeple just placed in the city by activating the Add Meeple symbol.
b.2) N/A
c) Red scores 12 points for the city. Yellow scores no points after losing the majority.

Question #02: How many points does Red score for this archbishop at the end of the game?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17321)

Answer #02: Red will score 3 points for this archbishop (1 + 2 + 0 points):
* 1 point for the left road segment on the German cathedral tile (1 road segment x 1 point).
* 2 points for the closed road below ( (1 road segment + 1 tile) x 1 point/tile = 2 x 1 points)
* 0 points for the right road due to the inn ( (1 road segment + 2 tiles) x 0 points/tile = 3 x 0 points)

Notes:
* We are considering the road segments on the German cathedral tile individually. They are equivalent to tiles in this case, since there are no roads looping back to the German cathedral tile.
* German castles do not affect the scoring of German cathedrals, even if evaluating a completed road at the end of the game.

Question #03: How many points does Red score for this road at the end of the game?

Note: If anyone asks, the meeple landed on that road with a magic portal. :o

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17354)

Answer #03:

At the end of the game, Red occupies an incomplete road with an inn, a German castle, the Mage and a Little Building (a shed).

Depending on the ruleset used for double-sized tiles, there will be two different outcomes.
- The C1 rules consider each tile individually no matter their shape, so one double-sized tile counts as 1 tile.
- The C2/C3 rules consider occupied spaces when scoring features, so one double-sized tile counts as 2 tiles (except when scoring a long road on a Leipzig tile).

Let's see the result depending on each ruleset...

C2/C3 Rules

The road occupies 6 spaces (Note that the road segments in different halves of the German castle are counted separately). Therefore this road is scored as if it has 6 tiles.

In order to score this road, the inn is evaluated first, then the Mage, and finally the shed:
* The uncompleted road with the inn is worth 0 points (6 tiles x 0 points/tile)
* The Mage bonus is worth 6 points (6 tiles x 1 points/tile)
* The shed bonus is worth 1 point (it is irrelevant if the normal or the variant rules is applied).

Note: German castles do not grant bonus points at the end of the game.

Red will score 7 points for this road (0 points for the road + 6 points the Mage + 1 point for the shed).

C1 Rules

The road occupies 5 spaces (Note that the German castle is counted as one tile). Therefore this road is scored as if it has 5 tiles.

In order to score this road, the inn is evaluated first, then the Mage, and finally the shed:
* The uncompleted road with the inn is worth 0 points (5 tiles x 0 points/tile)
* The Mage bonus is worth 5 points (5 tiles x 1 points/tile)
* The shed bonus is worth 1 point (it is irrelevant if the normal or the variant rules is applied).

Note: German castles do not grant bonus points at the end of the game.

Red will score 6 points for this road (0 points for the road + 5 points the Mage + 1 point for the shed).

Question #04: It's Yellow's turn. The player draws the following tile and decides to use this gift on their normal meeple in this city. How many points does each player score?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17364)

Answer #04: By opening the Cash Out gift, Yellow will remove their normal meeple before placing the tile. Since the city had 3 meeples right before the meeple is removed, Yellow will score 6 points right away (3 meeples x 2 points).

Once the tile is placed, the city is completed with 2 normal meeples from Red and one mayor from Yellow. The mayor has strength 2 since the city has 2 coats of arms. Both players should share the majority, but the mayor is on a hill, so the tie is broken and only Yellow scores 20 points for the city ( ( 8 tiles + 2 coats of arms) x 2 points = 10 x 2 points).

Bottlomline:
* Red scores no points
* Yellow scores 26 points (6 points for the Cash Out gift + 20 points for the city)

Question #05: Red places this abbey. The player has the following questions:
a) Can Red move the ferry and complete the road network?
b) If so, how many points does each player score if you apply the advanced variant rules for the labyrinth?
c) Can Red occupy the abbey with their wagon afterwards?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17389)

Answer #05: By placing the abbey, Red cannot move the ferry, since the road is not actually being extended. This said, the answers would to the questions are:
a) No, Red cannot move the ferry and complete the road network.
b) Since the road is not completed, no player scores points in this scenario.
c) Since the road is not completed, the wagon cannot move to the abbey on and adjacent tile from its current location.

Note that Red would need to place a meeple on the abbey to occupy it right away since moving the wagon after scoring is not an option in this case.

Question #06: Red places this tile. How many points does each player score?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17397)

Answer #06: The tile placed by Red completes this city with 9 tiles and 2 coats of arms. The city is occupied by 4 meeples, some of them placed on hills:
* Blue has two normal meeples, one of them placed on a hill.
* Red has a mayor with strength 2 (due to the 2 coats of arms) placed on a hill.
* Yellow has one normal meeple placed on a hill.

In this scenario, both Blue and Red share the majority with two majority votes each against Yellow, who only has one majority vote. However, this tie cannot be broken since Blue and  Red have one meeple on a hill each -the strength of the meeples placed on hills is irrelevant. Therefore, both Blue and Red score 22 points for the city ( ( 9 tiles + 2 coats of arms ) x 2 points = 11 x 2 points ).

Bottomline:
* Blue scores 22 points for the city
* Red scores 22 points for the city
* Yellow scores 0 points for the city

Question #07: Red places this tile. If we apply C1 rules, please answer the following questions:
a) How many points does Red score?
b) Can the wagon move to any feature after scoring?
c) What would be different in the previous answers if we apply C2 rules?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17421)

Answer #07: Red completes a road with the following elements:
* 7 square tiles (including one roundabout and one tunnel)
* 1 double-sized tile with a German castle, with both halved connected to the same road
* 4 Halflings (the hill is irrelevant in this case)
* 1 inn
* 2 sheds from Little Buildings

According to the C1 rules, each tile will be counted individually, even Halflings and double-sized tiles as per the clarifications from 10/2015. Therefore this road is scored as a 12-tile road.

The answers to the questions are the following:

a) Red will score 29 points (24 + 3 + 2 points)
   - 24 points for the road (12 tiles x (1 point per tile + 1 point for the inn) = 12 x 2 points).
   - 3 points for the German castle at the end of the road
   - 2 points for the sheds (1 sheds x 1 point per shed). Note: the variant applied is irrelevant.

Notes:
* The feature-level bonuses such as the German castle or Little Buildings are applied after the inn.
* The German castle bonus is considered only once even if the road ends at it multiple times.

b) After scoring, Red can move the wagon to any unoccupied, uncompleted adjacent feature to the road, where adjacent means connected to the road no matter the distance traveled. In this case, the only feature possible would be the German castle.

So Red can remove the wagon or move it the German castle. Remember that the wagon cannot be placed on a field.

c) If we consider the C2 rules, the road will be scored according to the number of square spaces it occupied.

In this case, the answer to question a) will be different, since each square space is counted individually, even if it is occupied by two Halflings or one half of a double-sized tile. So the road is scored as if it had 11 tiles.

c.a) Red will score 27 points (22 + 3 + 2 points)
   - 22 points for the road (11 tiles x (1 point per tile + 1 point for the inn) = 11 x 2 points).
   - 3 points for the German castle at the end of the road
   - 2 points for the sheds (1 sheds x 1 point per shed). Note: the variant applied is irrelevant.

Notes:
* The feature-level bonuses such as the German castle or Little Buildings are applied after the inn.
* The German castle bonus is considered only once even if the road ends at it multiple times.

c.b) In C2, the meaning of adjacent when moving the wagon changed. After scoring, Red can move the wagon to any unoccupied, uncompleted feature on the same tile or on adjacent tiles. The connectivity provided by the road is irrelevant in this case. The only adjacent tiles with uncompleted features are the two Halflings on the top right.

So Red can remove the wagon or move it the any of the city segments on the two Halflings top right. Remember that the wagon cannot be placed on a field.

Question #08: Red places this tile (not the last one of the game). How many points does each player score, if any?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17433)

Answer #08: Red is the only player scoring in this case. The completion of the unoccupied road triggers the scoring of the castle occupied by the Red Ringmaster.

The completed road is worth 6 points (3 tiles x (1 point per tile + 1 point for the German cathedral) = 3 x 2 points )

The Red Ringmaster will score 6 points for the road but no points for the ringmaster bonus, since the meeple is not on a feature from the base game. HiG only grants this bonus if the ringmaster is on a road, in a city, on a monastery or in a field. (They may revisit this limitation eventually.)

Bottomline:
* Red will score 6 points for the castle.

Note: If HiG reviews the rules as recommended by the community, the Red Ringmaster could also score a ringmaster bonus of 4 points:
* 2 points for the acrobat space in the castle fief
* 2 points for the circus space in the castle fief
But this is not official and we don't know yet if it will ever be at this point.

Question #09: Red receives this message. The player has the following questions:
a) Which monastery or monasteries can the player choose to apply the message?
b) How many points will the player score?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17445)

Answer #09: Red receives the "Smallest Monastery" message, which allows the player to score points for their monastery worth the least points as if scored at the end of the game. This means the vineyards adjacent to each monastery are irrelevant, since they are not considered at the end of the game.

Red occupies two monasteries:
* The monastery with the road worth 5 points ( (1 monastery tile + 4 adjacent tiles) x 1 point = 5 x 1 points).
* The monastery with no roads worth 7 points( (1 monastery tile + 6 adjacent tiles) x 1 point = 7 x 1 points).
This means that Red can only receive points for the monastery with the road with this message. The meeple on the monastery will stay on the feature undisturbed.

So the answers to these questions will be as follows.
a) Red will only be allowed to receive points for the monastery with the road, that is the monastery worth the least points.
b) Red will receive 5 points for this message.

Note: You can always decide to score 2 points for the message instead of the points it would grant.

Question #10: Yellow places this tile completing the city occupied by the Red Mayor. How many points does each player score?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17447)

Answer #10: The city completed by Yellow is worth 8 points (4 tiles x 2 points). Since the city has no coats of arms, the Red Mayor has strength 0 and cannot score points for it.

However, Yellow occupies a castle neighboring the completed city. As a result, Yellow will score as many points as the city is worth, even if Red Mayor could not score points for it. A castle scores the points a neighboring completed feature is worth no matter if the players occupying the completed feature can score points for it or not.

Note: With this action, Yellow managed to score points for the city before Red could add at least one coat of arms to the city and be able to score points for it too.

Bottomline:
* Red scores 0 points for the city
* Yellow scores 8 points for the castle

Title: Re: Sunday Quiz 2022

Question #11: Yellow places this tile completing this city and two roads. The player has the following questions:
1) How many points does each player score?
2) Based on this scoring, is this placement a good decision for Yellow? (That is, is Yellow the player scoring the most points from this tile placement?)

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17481)

EDIT: Clarified the scope of question #2. Not trying to get a full analysis of possible options and considerations a player may check for a placement like this in a real game.

Answer #11: Before the completed features are scored, we should address the watchtowers.

The Blue Meeple in the city will receive the watchtower bonus triggered by the completion of the city. Blue will receive 8 points for this watchtower (4 neighboring meeples x 2 points) .

The Blue Meeple on the road will receive the watchtower bonus triggered by the completion of the road. Blue will receive 6 points for this watchtower (3 neighboring meeples x 2 points) .

After these scorings, the completed features may be scored as usual:
* The completed city is occupied by Blue and Yellow, but only the latter has the majority with two meeples. Therefore Yellow will score 16 points for the city ( (7 tiles + 1 coat of arms) x 2 points = 8 x 2 points).
* Red will score 3 points (3 tiles x 1 point) for the completed road the player occupies.
* Blue will score 3 points (3 tiles x 1 point) for the completed road the player occupies.

Bottomline:
1) The answer is:
* Blue scores 17 points (8 points for the left watchtower + 6 points for the right watchtower + 3 points for the road)
* Red scores 3 points for the road.
* Yellow scores 16 points for the city.
2) Blue scores more points than Yellow with the help of these watchtowers, so it is not a good decision in terms of points being scored. Outside of the scope of this question, Yellow may decide this placement is interesting because the player may prevent Blue from scoring even more points for these watchtowers.

Notes:
* Watchtowers are evaluated before any completed features triggering them. Otherwise the scoring may lead to different results depending on the order of evaluation of the completed features like in this case, since meeples removed from completed features may alter the number of points each watchtower is worth.
* Meeples on watchtowers receive the bonus no matter the player with the majority on the feature.
* The watchtower scoring for neighboring meeples takes into consideration all types of meeples: In this case, normal meeples and abbots.

Question #12: Red places this tile completing two roads. How many points does each player score?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17491)

Answer #12: This tile placement completes a 4-tile road with an inn occupied by Red and a 3-tile road with a bridge occupied by Yellow.

Red will score 8 points for the road with an inn (4 tiles x (1 point per road tile + 1 point for the inn) = 4 x 2 points)

Yellow will score 3 points for the road with the bridge (3 tiles x 1 point per road tile)

Notes:
* The inn does not affect the road segment represented by the bridge.
* The bazaar on the tile with the bridge ends the road occupied by Red.

Bottomline:
* Red scores 8 points
* Yellow scores 3 points

Question #13: Red places this tile completing a road with two meeples. The player has the following questions:
1) Can Red send a meeple to Leipzig?
2a) If not possible, how many points would each player score?
2b) If possible, how many points would each player score if Red sends one of their meeples to the Wainwrights quarter in Leipzig?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17499)

Answer #13: This tile placement completes a 4-tile road with two meeples. Red can send one of them to Leipzig since the completed road is connected to Leipzig via villages, two in this case. Before scoring, Red would send one meeple on the road to the Wainwrights quarter in Leipzig, and score the road with the other meeple reamining. (If Red had only one meeple on the road, the player would score no points for the road in this case).

So the answer to these questions is as follows:
1) Yes, Red can send a meeple to Leipzig.
2a) This question would not apply.
2b) This question applies, so Red would score 8 points (4 points for the road + 4 points for the meeple just sent to Wainwrights quarter in Leipzig):
* 4 points for the road (4 tiles x 1 point/tile)
* 4 points for the meeple in the Wainwrights quarter (4 tiles x 1 point/tile)

Note that Blue will not score any points, since their meeple in the Wainwrights quarter by itself is not enough to score points. The player would have needed to have the majority -or at least share it with Red- in the completed road in order to score points and receive the Wainwrights quarter bonus as well.

Additionally, Yellow will score no points either, since the player is not present in a road with coats of arms completed suring this turn.

Bottomline:
1) Yes, Red can send a meeple to Leipzig.
2a) N/A
2b) The players score as follows:
* Blue scores no points
* Red scores 8 points
* Yellow scores no points

Question #14: Red places this tile completing a road with plenty of signpost arrows. How many points will the player score if the active scoring tile for roads is the one shown top left?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17508)

Answer #14: Red completes an 8-tile road with several signpost arrows. The Highway scoring tiles affecting roads forces the player to score the road as it had 5 tiles only.

The road has several signposts arrows but only 4 of them are in correct position (1 in black and 3 in red as seen in the image below). This means that there are two types of arrows in correct position, so each correct arrow is worth 2 points.

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=18617)

Red will then score 13 points for the road (5 points for the road itself + 8 points for the correct signpost arrows):
* 5 points for the road (5 tiles for the Highway scoring tile x 1 point per tile)
* 8 points for the correct signpost arrows (4 correct arrows x 2 points per correct arrow)

Bottomline:
Red scores 13 points.

Question #15: Red places this tile and a meeple. How many points does each player score?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17536)

Answer #15: Red completes several features with this tile placement:

* A 2-tile road occupied by Red ending at a German castle. This road is worth 5 points (2 points for the road + 3 bonus points for the German castle):
  * 2 points for the road (2 tiles x 1 point)
  * 3 bonus points for the German castle ending the road

* A city occupied by Red which has a city segment on a German castle. This city is worth 11 points (8 points for the city + 3 bonus points for the German castle)
  * 8 points for the city ( ( 3 tiles + 1 coat of arms ) x 2 points = 4 x 2 points )
  * 3 bonus points for the German castle on the city tile

* A 4-tile road occupied by Blue with a bridge and an inn. This road is worth 8 points ( 4 tiles x (1 point per tile + 1 point for the inn) = 4 x 2 points ). Note that the road passes over the German castle but does not end at it, so it does not receive any German castle bonus.

* A 4-tile road occupied by Yellow ending at a German castle. This road is worth 7 points (4 points for the road + 3 bonus points for the German castle):
  * 4 points for the road (4 tiles x 1 point)
  * 3 bonus points for the German castle ending the road

Bottomline:
* Blue scores 8 points for the road
* Red scores 16 points (5 points for the road + 11 points for the city)
* Yellow scores 7 points for the road

Just correction, 2nd red get 8 points for the city, not for the road.
I was looking to that small 2 tile road, and wondering, where is that coat of arms. (as we know, there are maps used also on roads).

Question #16: Red places this tile. The player has the following questions:
1) How many points does each player score?
2) Does any meeple go to the free bathhouse?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17541)

Answer #16: Red completes two cities with City Gates tiles. Note that the city gates facing each other on the tiles below separate the cities. Therefore, one city is occupied by Red and the other is shared by Red and Yellow.

The city occupied by Red alone has 5 tiles and 2 coats of arms, so it is worth 14 points ( (5 tiles + 2 coats of arms) x 2 points = 7 x 2 points). Additionally, the meeple in this city is scoring alone, so it can go to a free bathhouse after scoring.

The city shared by Red and Yellow has 5 tiles, 1 coat of arms and a 3-point bathhouse. This city is then worth 15 points (12 points for the city itself + 3 points for the bathhouse):
* 12 points for the city itself ( (5 tiles + 1 coat of arms) x 2 points = 6 x 2 points)
* 3 points for the bathhouse
Since there are two meeples in this city, none of them is a candidate to go to a free bathhouse for this scoring.

So the answers to the questions are as follows:
1) Bottomline:
   * Red scores 29 points (14 + 15 points)
   * Yellow scores 15 points
2) Red's meeple scoring alone will go to the free bathhouse

Question #17: Red places this tile. The player has the following questions:
1) How many points does each player score?
2) Who gets the teacher from the school?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17550)

Answer #17: Red completes one road ending at the school. This road contains two tunnels (one marked with red tunnel tokens and another one with yellow tunnel tokens). This road has 7 tiles (Note: the tile on the center right with three tunnels tokens is only counted once). Check the following image where the roads occupied by Red and Yellow:

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=18694)

You can also see in the image above that the road occupied by Yellow is not completed. The grey tunnel tokens connect two road segments but the one on the center right is open ended. So Yellow scores no points.

Therefore Red scores 7 points (7 tiles x 1 point per tile). Since Red completes the road connected to the school, Red will receive the teacher, but the teacher bonus is not applicable until the next feature is scored.

Bottomline:
1) Red scores 7 points.
   Yellow scores no points
2) Red receives the teacher.

Question #18: Red places this tile. The player has the following questions:
1) How many points does the player score during this turn if playing with the Variant Rules for Little Buildings?
2) Does the Witch stay on the road after scoring?
3) Can the Dragon eat the Witch if landing on the same tile?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17558)

Answer #18: Red completes a road with the Witch and two little buildings. Since we are applying the Variant Rules for Little Buildings, the shed is worth 1 point and the tower is worth 3 points. As indicated in the clarifications for Little Buildings, their points are applied after the Witch.

The road is initially worth 5 points (5 tiles x 1 point per tile), but the Witch halves these points (rounding them up), so the road is worth 3 points (5 points / 2 rounded up). The Little Building points will be applied on top of these points. So the road is worth 7 points (3 points for the feature itself + 1 point for the shed + 3 points for the tower).

Additionally, the Fairy assigned to the Red Meeple, so it will provide the following extra points:
* 1 bonus point at the beginning of Red's turn.
* 3 bonus points for its presence in the completed road.

Bottomline:
The answer to the questions is as follows:
1) Red scores 11 points (1 point for the Fairy at the beginning of the player's turn + 7 points for the road + 3 points for the Fairy scoring bonus).
2) No, the Witch will be removed from the road and placed aside until a player placing a new tile with a magic symbol decides to place the Witch on an uncompleted road or city again.
3) Yes, the Dragon will eat the Witch if placed on the same tile.

Question #19: Red places this tile and decides to remove the abbot. How many points does each player score taking into account the scoring tiles shown as active?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17568)

Answer #19: Red completes a road occupied by Blue and a city occupied by Red. Note that the other meeples within the walls of the city are not actually placed in the city:
* The Blue Meeple is placed on a monastery within the city, so the meeple is a monk, not a knight in the city.
* The Yellow Meeple is on top of a tower so it is not a knight in the city either. The large bridge over the city does not split it into two.

Red will score 4 points for the abbot (1 point for the monastery tile + (3 adjacent tiles x 1 point) = 1 + 3 points). The Pilgrimage Route scoring tile does not affect the scoring of an abbot, just the scoring of completed monastic buildings.

Blue will score 4 points for the road affected by the Poverty scoring tile ( (7 tiles x 1 point per tile) - 3 penalty points for the scoring tile = 7 points - 3 points).

Red will score 14 points for the city ( (6 tiles + 1 coat of arms) x 2 points = 7 x 2 points). The Citizen's Jury scoring tile does not affect the scoring the city in this case, since the only meeple in the city is from Red.

Bottomline:
* Blue will score 4 points.
* Red will score 18 points (4 points for the abbot + 14 points for the city).
* Yellow will score no points.

Question #20: Red places this tile followed by the barn and the phantom. The player has the following questions:
1) Can the player move the ferry at the top?
2) Can the player move the ferry on the left?
3) After moving all the ferries allowed to extend the road as much as possible, how many points does each player score in this scenario?
4) Can the wagon move once the city is scored? Where, if possible?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17587)

Answer #20: Red completes a city and extends an open road with a ferry. This means that the player can move the first ferry (marked as 1 in the image below) following the extended road from the tile just placed. This is also possible because the ferry piece is connected to the extended road. However, it is not possible to move the next ferry down the road on the left (marked as 2 in the image below) past the first ferry, since the rules would not allow it.

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=18712)
Image with some annotations to support the explanation.

After moving the first ferry (the one at the top), the resulting road is now completed. It now has:
* 9 tiles, 2 of them added after moving the ferry
* 1 German cathedral (top right)
Note: As the second ferry cannot be moved, the road cannot be added 2 more tiles including 1 inn.

The road occupied by the Red Phantom is worth 18 points (9 tiles x (1 point per tile + 1 point for the German cathedral) = 9 x 2 points)

Blue occupies the completed city with their wagon. The city is worth 10 points (5 tiles x 2 points). Note that both halves of the Spiel 19 tile are connected by the bridge on the tile and additionally by the Spiel 20 tile. After scoring, Blue can move the wagon to the open city on the adjacent tile  or to any of segment of the open road connected to the tile where the wagon is placed, since they are the only open features on neighboring tiles:
* The wagon could move to the road segment on the same tile it is placed (marked as A in the image above)
* The wagon could move to the road segment on the adjacent CFRR tile bottom left (marked as B in the image above)
* The wagon could move to any of the road segments connected by the ferry on the ferry lake tile on the left (marked as C and D in the image above).
* The wagon could move to the city segment on the adjacent CFRR tile bottom left (marked as E in the image above). Note: this option is valid in C2 but not in C1, since the latter only allows the wagon to move between features connected by roads or common edges, not allowing it to jump over field segments like in this case.

Additionally, the barn is placed in a field with a Red Farmer, a Yellow Farmer and a Yellow Pig. This barn placement triggers the scoring of these farmers.
* Red will score 3 points (1 completed city x 3 points)
* Yellow will score 4 points (1 completed city x (3 points for the city + 1 point for the pig) = 1 city x 4 points)
After this scoring, the farmers and the pig are removed from the field and only the barn remains in it, to be scored at the end of the game.

Bottomline:
The answer to the questions is as follows:
1) Yes, the ferry at the top can be moved so the road can also be completed and scored. This is possible since the road containing this ferry is extended by the tile just placed.
2) No, the ferry on the left cannot be moved, since it is not connected directly to the road extended by the tile placed.
3) The players score the following points:
   * Blue scores 10 points for the city.
   * Red scores 21 points (18 points for the road + 3 point for the field).
   * Yellow scores 4 poins for the field.
4) Yes, it can move to any road segment on the open road on the left that contains an inn and a ferry. It can also move to the open city segment on the tile bottom left (unless applying C1 rules).

Question #21: Red places this German castle tile and has the following questions:
1) Can the player place the pig in this field?
2) What expansions allowed Blue and Yellow to place more than one meeple on the same city tile?
3) How many points does each player score in this scenario?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17614)

Answer #21: Red completes a road, a city and a monastery with this tile placement. The completion of the city will also trigger the completion of the castle occupied by Red.

Note that the monastery is complete even if there is a triangular gap around the monastery. The square is considered occupied even with only one triangular tile. Moreover, there are two double-sized tiles that occupy two adjacent squares to the monastery each. The monastery itself is a triangular tile sharing a space with another triangular tile. This monastery is then completed as it occupies a space surrounded by 8 occupied spaces. All these spaces count as regular tiles when scoring the monastery.

The field where the player wants to place the pig is also the field with the Red Phantom (the field goes between the city and the German castle at the bottom).

As seen in the picture, Blue used the "Add Meeple" action of the 20th Anniversary Expansion and Yellow used a flying machine from Mini #1 - Flying Machines to add a second meeple to the city.

We will see two different answers depending on the scoring rules applied.

Scoring with C2/C3 rules

If we apply the C2/C3 rules for Halflings and double-sized tiles, each square occupied by one or two Halflings, or half a double-sized tile is counted as 1 square tile.

Let's score each completed feature:

A) The road occupied by Yellow has 3 tiles and a German castle. The player will score 6 points (3 points for the road + 3 points for the German castle):
* 3 points for the road (3 tile x 1 point per tile)
* 3 bonus points for the German castle at one end of the road (1 German castle x 3 points per castle)

B) The city occupied by Blue and Yellow is worth 16 points (10 points for the city + 6 points for the German castles):
* 10 points for the city ( (4 tiles + 1 coat of arms) x 2 points = 5 x 2 points )
* 6 points for the 2 German castles contributing to the city (2 German castles x 3 points per castle)
Blue has a normal meeple and mayor with strength 1 due to the coat of arms, that is 2 majority votes. Yellow has one normal wagon and a normal meeple, that is 2 majority votes too. However, the tie is broken in Blue's favor since their meeples are on a hill and Yellow has none. Therefore, only Blue receives points for this city.

C) The monastery occupied by Red is worth 15 points (9 points for the monastery + 6 points for the neighboring vineyards)
* 9 points for the monastery (9 tiles x 1 point each)
* 6 points for the vineyards (2 vineyards x 3 points)
Note that one vineyard shares the same space as the monastery and the other one is on the tile bottom left.

D) Red will score 16 points for the castle, that is the same number of points the city is worth.

Bottomline:
The answer is as follows:
1) Yes, the pig can be placed in the field chosen by Red.
2) Blue used the "Add Meeple" action of the 20th Anniversary Expansion and Yellow used a flying machine from Mini #1 - Flying Machines to add a second meeple to the city.
3) The scoring is as follows:
   * Blue will score 16 poins for the city
   * Red will score 31 points (15 points for the monastery + 16 points for the castle)
   * Yellow will score 6 points for the road

Scoring with C1 rules

If we apply the C1 rules for Halflings and double-sized tiles, each tile is considered individually when scoring features. In our case, this will affect the scoring of the monastery.

A) Yellow will still score 6 points for the road.

B) Blue will still score 16 points for the city.

C) The monastery occupied by Red is worth 14 points (8 points for the monastery + 6 points for the neighboring vineyards)
* 8 points for the monastery ( ( 2 triangular tiles in the space occupied by the monastery + 1 adjacent triangular tile + 2 adjacent doble-sized tiles + 3 adjacent square tiles ) x 1 point per tile = 8 tiles x 1 point)
* 6 points for the vineyards (2 vineyards x 3 points)

D) Red will still score 16 points for the castle.

   * Red will score 30 points (14 points for the monastery + 16 points for the castle)
   * Yellow will score 6 points for the road

Question #22: Red places this tile and has he following questions:
1) Is any tile affected by the Bad Neighborhood scoring tile when scoring the cities?
2) Does the Bad Neighborhood scoring tile affect the Mage bonus?
3) How many points does each player score in this scenario?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17674)

Answer #22: Red completes two cities with this tile placement. Let's check each city in turn.

The city occupied by Red has 5 tiles and 1 coat of arms. The Mage is also placed in this city. Due to the Bad Neigborhood scoring tile, the city cap on the tile just placed is not counted when scoring this city, but it does not affect the Mage. Therefore this city is worth 15 points (10 points for the city + 5 points for the Mage bonus):
* The city itself is worth 10 points ( (5 tiles - 1 tile for the Bad Neighborhood scoring tile + 1 coat of arms) x 2 points = 5 x 2 points )
* The Mage bonus is 5 points (5 tiles x 1 point per tile). Note the Mage does not consider coats of arms and is not affected by the scoring tile.

Check the following image where the tiles belonging to this city are highlighted in red and the city segment affected by the Bad Neighborhood is marked with a cross.

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=18755)

The city occupied by Blue and Yellow is scored by both players. The Yellow Builder has no impact on the majority or the scoring. Each player has one majority vote. This city has 8 tiles, 1 coat of arms and the Witch. The Bad Neighborhood scoring tile will affect the city caps on the tile just placed and the one top left where the Blue Meple is placed (Note that the meeple is considered for the majority but that city segment is not considered). Therefore this city is worth 7 points:
* The city would be worth 14 points ( (8 tiles - 2 tiles for the Bad Neighborhood scoring tile + 1 coat of arms) x 2 points per tile = 7 x 2 points) but the Witch will halve that amount of points (rounded up). So the city is worth 7 points (14 points / 2 for the Witch)

Note: The Bad Neighborhood scoring tile affects plain city caps as the ones present in the base game, but it will ignore city caps connected to bridges. You can see some examples of the latter in this question.

Bottomline:
The answer to the questions is as follows:
1) The Bad Neighborhood scoring tile affects the city caps on the tiles top left and bottom right (the one just placed). These tiles will not be considered when scoring the cities
2) The Bad Neighborhood scoring does not affect the Mage bonus. Both expansions coexist without any interaction.
3) Each player scores as follows:
* Blue will score 7 points
* Red will score 15 points
* Yellow will score 7 points

Question #23: Red places this tile and has he following questions:
1) Whose meeple gets a new ghost and how is it affected?
2) How many points does each player score in this scenario?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17706)

Answer #23: Red completes a city with this tile placement. In the city, Red has one normal meeple with two ghosts and a guard meeple, and Yellow has one normal meeple with two ghosts as well.

Since Red extends a mist bank with this tile placement, the player must add a ghost to an opponent's meeple. In this scenario, the only valid meeple for this is the one from Yellow. As this meeple is haunted by three ghosts, it has to return immediately to its owner's supply and those three ghosts are returned to the general supply. As a result, the city is now occupied by Red only. Note that a ghost cannot be added to Blue's guard meeple.

Therefore, Red will score 14 points (18 points for the city - 4 points for the ghosts added to the player's meeple):
* The city is worth 18 points ( ( 8 tiles + 1 coat of arms ) x 2 points = 9 x 2 points)
* The ghosts deduct 4 points from the city scoring (2 ghosts x 2 points)

Bottomline:
1) Yellow's normal meeple gets the additional ghost and it is removed right away from the city.
2) The players score as follows:
   * Blue scores no points (their castle is uncompleted)
   * Red will score 14 points for the city.
   * Yellow scores no points (their meeple is removed from the city before scoring).

Question #24: Red places this tile with their tollhouse token, and builds the castle with the Red Meeple. The player has the following questions:
1) Which features trigger the scoring of each castle and how many points are they worth?
2) How many points would each player score in this scenario if Yellow wants other players to score the least points possible?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17739)

Answer #24: Red completes a small city that converts into a castle, a road occupied by Orange and an unoccupied German cathedral connected to that road.

The completion of the road and the German cathedral cannot trigger the scoring of the castle just built by Red. However, both features trigger the scoring of the castle occupied by the Yellow Mayor. Additionally, this castle will also trigger the scoring of the castle occupied by Blue.

The completion of the road also triggers the scoring of the Red Tollhouse. This tollhouse is worth 3 points ( (1 farmhouse + 2 highwaymen) x 1 point for the tollhouse = 3 x 1 points).

The road occupied by Orange has an inn and a German cathedral. Additionally the road ends at two segments on the German cathedral tile, so each one of these road segments will be counted separately. As a result this road is worth 18 points ( (4 tiles + 2 road segments on the German cathedral tile) x (1 point for the road + 1 point for the inn + 1 point for the German cathedral) = 6 x 3 points).

The unoccupied German cathedral is also completed and it will score 15 points (12 points for the road with the inn + 3 points for the road leading to the Pink Tollhouse:
* 12 points for the road with an inn ( (4 tiles + 2 road segments on the German cathedral tile) x (1 point for the road + 1 point for the inn ) = 6 x 2 points).
* 3 points for the road ending at the Pink Tollhouse (3 tiles x 1 point per tile).

When scoring the castle occupied by Yellow, the player can choose between two options:
* 18 points for the road occupied by Orange
* 15 points for the unoccupied German cathedral.
As we are scoring the least points possible, Yellow would choose to score points for the unoccupied German cathedral. However, since the castle lord is a mayor and castles have no coats of arms, the player will score 0 points for the castle, even if the castle is worth 15 points.

Blue will score the same points as Yellow's castle is worth, that is 15 points. It does not matter that Yellow could not score points for it.

Bottomline:
1) The features triggering the scoring of each castle are:
   * Blue's castle: it is triggered by Yellow's castle. It is worth 15 points.
   * Red's castle: no feature can trigger its scoring on this turn, since it was just built.
   * Yellow's castle: It is triggered by the road occupied by Orange (worth 18 points) and the unoccupied German cathedral (worth 15 points). The player decides the castle is worth 15 points in order to minimize the points received by Blue.
2) Each player scores as follows:
   * Blue scores 15 poins for the castle
   * Orange scores 18 points for the road
   * Red scores 3 points for the tollhouse
   * Yellow scores 0 points for the castle.

Question #25: Red places this tile and completes two roads. How many points will each player score?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17776)

Answer #25: Red completes two roads with one inn each, a regular inn on the Spiel'22 tile and a traditional Ukranian house acting as an inn.

Red will score 8 points (4 tiles x (1 point for the road + 1 point for the inn) = 4 x 2 points).

Blue will score 6 points (3 tiles x (1 point for the road + 1 point for the inn) = 3 x 2 points).

Bottomline:
* Red will score 8 points
* Blue will score 6 points

the rules of tile ukrainyan ,if we don't play with inn and cathedrals,ignore the rule in this tile,correct? if play with inn cathedrals the blue road score 6 points,or 3 if don t play that expansion,or I'm wrong?

I included an inn to consider the Ukranian traditional house as an inn as well. If your game includes no inns, you may ignore the Ukranian house.

Question #26: Red places this tile and completes two roads. How many points will each player score if these are the betting chips affecting the roads?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17792)

Answer #26: This question has two different answers depending on the rules applied to the German castle:
* C1 rules, where each tile is counted separately
* C2/C3 rules, where double-sized tiles are considered as two tiles in some cases like this one.

Let's start with the answer if using C2/C3 rules, the current ones, and let's do C1 later.

C2/C3 rules

Red completes two roads ending at a German castle:
* The road occupied by Blue and Yellow has 7 tiles (each half of the German castle counts as a separate tile when scoring the road) and two betting offices, one top left and another on the right.
* The road occupied by Red has 4 tiles and one betting office, bottom left.

Let's score each road in turn and then the betting offices:

1. Scoring the top road

Blue and Yellow will score 10 points for the road (7 points for the road + 3 points for the German castle):
* 7 points for the road (7 tiles x 1 point)
* 3 bonus points for the German castle at the end of the road (it doesn't matter if the road ends twice at the same castle; the road will receive the German castle bonus only once).

2. Scoring the bottom road

Red will score 7 points for the road (4 points for the road + 3 points for the German castle):
* 4 points for the road (4 tiles x 1 point)
* 3 bonus points for the German castle at the end of the road.

3. Scoring the betting office top left

Only Red will score for their 4/7+ betting chip here. Since the road has 7 tiles, the player will receive 7 points. Blue and Yellow will score no points for their betting chips.

4. Scoring the betting office on the right

Only Blue will score for their 4/7+ betting chip here. Since the road has 7 tiles, the player will receive 7 points. Red and  Yellow will score no points for their betting chips.

5. Scoring the betting office bottom left

Red and Yellow will score for their betting chips since the road has 4 tiles:
* Red will score 8 points for their 4 betting chip.
* Yellow will score 4 points for the 4/7+ betting chip.

Bottomline:
* Blue will score 17 points (10 points for the top road + 7 points for their betting chip on the right betting office)
* Red will score 22 points (7 points for the bottom road + 7 points for their betting chip on the betting office top left + 8 points for the betting chip on the betting office bottom left)
* Yellow will score 14 points (10 points for the top road + 4 points for their beting chip on the betting office bottom left)

C1 rules

Red completes two roads ending at a German castle:
* The road occupied by Blue and Yellow has 6 tiles (the German castle is counted as one tile) and two betting offices, one top left and another on the right.
* The road occupied by Red has 4 tiles and one betting office, bottom left.

Let's score each road in turn and then the betting offices:

1. Scoring the top road

Blue and Yellow will score 9 points for the road (6 points for the road + 3 points for the German castle):
* 6 points for the road (6 tiles x 1 point)
* 3 bonus points for the German castle at the end of the road (it doesn't matter if the road ends twice at the same castle; the road will receive the German castle bonus only once).

2. Scoring the bottom road

Red will score 7 points for the road (4 points for the road + 3 points for the German castle):
* 4 points for the road (4 tiles x 1 point)
* 3 bonus points for the German castle at the end of the road.

3. Scoring the betting office top left

Only Yellow will score for their 3/6 betting chip here. Since the road has 6 tiles, the player will receive 6 points. Blue and Red will score no points for their betting chips.

4. Scoring the betting office on the right

Only Red will score for their 2/6 betting chip here. Since the road has 6 tiles, the player will receive 6 points. Blue and  Yellow will score no points for their betting chips.

5. Scoring the betting office bottom left

Red and Yellow will score for their betting chips since the road has 4 tiles:
* Red will score 8 points for their 4 betting chip.
* Yellow will score 4 points for the 4/7+ betting chip.

Bottomline:
* Blue will score 9 points for the top road
* Red will score 21 points (7 points for the bottom road + 6 points for their betting chip on the right betting office + 8 points for the betting chip on the betting office bottom left)
* Yellow will score 19 points (9 points for the top road + 6 points for their betting chip on the betting office top left + 4 points for their beting chip on the betting office bottom left)

Question #27 : Red places this tile and completes several features. The player has the following questions:
1. Can Red move the ferry so that the road occupied by Yellow stays uncompleted? (If possible, consider it for the following question.)
2. How many points will each player score?
3. The player sequence is Blue - Red - Yellow. What sequence should follow the gold ingot distribution if Red wants to get the most gold ingots possible?  (The gold ingots are marked with a letter to facilitate the answer.)
4. How many gold ingots would each player get?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17814)

Answer #27: Red completes a monastery occupied by the player, a city occupied by Blue and a road occupied by Yellow.

Red extends the road occupied by Yellow ending at a ferry lake. Since the ferry is not connected to that road, it cannot be moved and the road stays completed.

Let's score each feature first:
* Red will score 9 points for the completed monastery (9 tiles x 1 point per tile)
* Blue will score 8 points for the city (4 tiles x 2 points per city tile)
* Yellow will score 4 points (4 tiles x 1 point per road)

The gold ingots on the tiles may be eligible for one or more players in this case according to the completed features found on those tiles:
* Gold ingot A can be picked by Blue (the city) and Red (the monastery).
* Gold ingot B can be picked by Blue (the city) and Red (the monastery).
* Gold ingot C can be picked by Blue (the city) and Red (the monastery) and Yellow (the road).
* Gold ingot D can be picked by Red (the monastery).

According to this, let's now distribute the gold ingots following the player sequence:
* Red will take a gold ingot first as the active player. In order to receive the most gold ingots, the player's best first option is to pick gold ingot C, which is on a tile contributing to the three completed features.
* Yellow is up next. As a result of Red's action, Yellow will have no option to receive a gold ingot, since there is no gold ingot left on any tile contributing to their road.
* It's Blue's turn now. Blue may pick gold ingot A or B, but the outcome will be the same, as we will see next.
* Now Red is up next again. The player should pick gold ingot B or A, according to Blue's decision. This way there will be no gold ingots left on any tile contributing to the city.
* Yellow will be skipped again, since there are no gold ingots left on the road tiles.
* Blue will be skipped too, since there are no gold ingots left on the city tiles.
* Finally, Red will take the only gold ingot left, gold ingot D.

So Red managed to receive 3 gold ingots whereas Blue got only one and Yellow none.

Bottomline: This is the answer to Red's questions:
1. The player may not move the ferry and reopen Yellow's road.
2. The scoring  is as follows:
   * Blue scores 8 points for the city
   * Red scores 9 points for the monastery
   * Yellow scores 4 points
3. The recommended sequence for Red to receive the most gold ingots is one of the following (two options depending on Blue's first pick):
   * Red - gold ingot C / Blue - gold ingot A / Red - gold ingot B / Red - gold ingot D
   * Red - gold ingot C / Blue - gold ingot B / Red - gold ingot A / Red - gold ingot D
4. The number of gold ingots received by each player is:
   * Blue gets 1 gold ingot
   * Red get 3 gold ingots
   * Yellow gets 0 gold ingots

Question #28 : Red places this tile and completes a city. The player has the following questions:
1. Does Red get a double turn in this case?
2. How many points will each player score?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17830)

Answer #28: Red completes a city occupied occupied by Blue, Red and Yellow. The three players share the majority. Red's builder does not count for the majority, so it is also irrelevant it is placed on a hill.

The city has a watchtower with a Red Meeple which will be scored first. Red will receive 6 points for the watchtower scoring for neighboring meeples (3 meeples x 2 points each). The watchtower will not consider the builder; it will only consider the Red Meeple on the watchtower tile, the Blue Meeple on an adjacent city tile and the Yellow Abbot on the adjacent monastery.

Blue, Red and Yellow will then score 18 points for the city ( (7 tiles + 2 coats of arms) x 2 points = 9 x 2 points).

Bottomline: This is the answer to Red's questions:
1. Yes, Red is granted a double turn, since the player extends the city with their builder. It doesn't matter that the tile placement completes the city and the builder is returned to its owner.
2. The number of points received by each player is as follows:
   * Blue scores 18 points for the city
   * Red scores 24 points (6 points for the watchtower + 18 points for the city)
   * Yellow scores 18 points for the city

Question #29 : The game is over and the players have the following questions:
1. How many different fields are there in this scenario?
2. How many points will each player score?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17842)

Answer #29: Since mist banks separate fields, this scenario has 7 fields as illustrated i the image below:
* Fields #1 and #2: Two fields along the road going down from the haunted castle occupied by Yellow. Both fields pass under the bridge.
* Field #3: One field occupied by Red's normal meeple.
* Field #4: One field at the bottom occupied by Blue's guard meeple.
* Field #5: One field occupied by Red's guard meeple and a pig.
* Field #6: One small unoccupied field bottom right.
* Field #7: One tiny unoccupied field between a road, a city and a mist bank at the top.

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=18841)

This end-of-game scenario includes several features. Let's score them on by one:

* An uncompleted castle occupied by Yellow. This feature has 4 neighboring tiles with mist, so it is worth 4 points (4 tiles with mist x 1 point)

* An uncompleted monastery occupied by Yellow's abbot with one ghost. The monastery is worth 5 points (5 tiles x 1 point) but the abbot has 1 ghost, so the player will score 4 points (5 points - 1 point for the ghost).

* A road occupied by Blue with 6 tiles (one of them with a bridge). The player will score 6 points (6 tiles x 1 point).

* Field #3 occupied by Red with a normal meeple with 2 ghosts (top left). This field has only 1 city (note that the 3-tile city does not border this filed due to the mist). Therefore the player scores 1 point ( (1 city x 3 points) - (2 ghosts x 1 point) = 3 - 2 points)

* Field #4 occupied by Blue with a guard meeple (bottom). This field has 0 completed cities, so the player scores 0 points.

* Field #5 occupied by Red with a guard meeple (bottom right) and a pig. The player will score 4 points for the field ( (1 city x (3 points for the city + 1 point for the pig) = 1 x 4 points)

Bottomline: Here are the answers to the questions:
1. There are 7 fields in this scenario.
2. The players will score as follows:
   * Blue scores 6 points for the road
   * Red scores 5 points (1 point for the Field #3 + 4 points for the Field #5)
   * Yellow scores 8 points (4 points for the haunted castle + 4 points for the monastery)

Question #30: The game is over. How many points will each player score?

(https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5904.0;attach=17865)

Answer #30: Let's score each feature at the end of the game:

* The uncompleted road occupied by the yellow phantom with a ghost. The road has 3 tiles and an inn, so Yellow scores -1 point for the road ( (3 tiles x 0 points for the inn) - 1 point for the ghost = 0 points - 1 point )

* The uncompleted city with the blue Mayor and the red guard meeple. Since the city has 2 coats of arms, Blue (2 majority votes) has the majority against Red (1 majority vote). So Blue scores 6 points for the city ( (4 tiles + 2 coats of arms) x 1 point = 6 x 1 points)

* The Japanese building with the yellow meeple placed as an abbot (i.e. sideways). The player will score 5 points (1 point for the Japanese building tile + 0 points for zero tiles in the column above it + 1 points for the tile in the column below + 2 points for the two tiles in the row to the left + 1 point for the tile in the row to the right).

* The uncompleted Japanese building with the red abbot placed as a monk (i.e. upright) is worth 6 points (1 point for the Japanese building tile + 5 points for its five adjacent tiles). Note the adjacent vineyard does not provide any bonus points at the end of the game.

* The blue shepherd scores 0 points at the end of the game, no matter the number of sheep in its flock.

* The uncompleted garden with the blue abbot is worth 4 points (1 point for the garden tile + 1 point for each adjacent tile).

Bottomline:
* Blue will score 10 points (6 points for the city + 4 points for the garden)
* Red will score 6 points for the Japanese building
* Yellow will score 4 points (-1 point for the road + 5 poins for the Japanese building)
