Title: Curious about old expansions and variations
Post by: SxN on February 04, 2021, 10:50:17 AM
Hello,

The old CarC site has a post mentioning several variations and expansions: http://carcassonnecentral.com/forum/index.php?topic=737.0 (http://carcassonnecentral.com/forum/index.php?topic=737.0).

Most of the links there (or subsequent ones) seem to be broken. Does anyone have access to these expansions and variation rules? If so, would it be possible to share them?

Thanks, SxN

Those links are 11 years old.  :o

If you are lucky, some of them may be archived on
http://web.archive.org (http://web.archive.org).

The variants page on BGG is still working:
https://www.boardgamegeek.com/forum/1129/carcassonne/variants (https://www.boardgamegeek.com/forum/1129/carcassonne/variants)

Murphy013 made some archaeology work recovering as many expansions as possible. Check this dynamic listing (Work in Progress):
https://wikicarpedia.com/index.php/User:Murphy013/Expansion_List (https://wikicarpedia.com/index.php/User:Murphy013/Expansion_List)

You can find a copy of Kevin Graham's Variants here (some of them are maintained as individual expansions on CarcC... You can look them up in the previous listing):
https://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/5678/kevinscarcassonnevariantspdf (https://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/5678/kevinscarcassonnevariantspdf)

Eldbarry's page is working but many links there may be broken too.
http://www.eldrbarry.net/hatr/carclink.htm (http://www.eldrbarry.net/hatr/carclink.htm)

Hope this helps a bit...

The HiG website used to host a lot of fan expansions and variants. You should be able to find those somewhere.  That was before their latest redesign, and before the one before that.

IIRC someone on CarcF was in touch with Kevin Graham about his expansions with a view to them also being hosted at CarcF.

Here you are a window to the past...

It seems it was KlausiMausi. He posted posted around 20 variants in German with Kevin Graham's permission:

I thank you all for the pointers. The BGG site is alive and well; in fact, the most recent post is from Jan. 2021.

The others, I need to explore.

For my own education: what means "IIRC"?
