Title: Big box 2016 rule clearification ferries

Hello,
We are playing carc big box and it got the ferries expension.
See attached image.

Can i add piece «1» and move the ferry and complete the road for blue?
Or do i HAVE to place my yellow meeple on piece «1» to move the ferry?

Anyway i try to explain it.
Ive built a road which has ferry on it.
Can my friend place another tile with a road on it and move the ferry?
Or do he HAVE to place a follower on the tile in order to move the ferry?

First of all, the road, which is owned by Blue, is already completed.
As for you question, is isn't mandatory to place a meeple in order to move the ferry, extending the road with ferry is enough.

Ah, bad example i see that now.

But to be absolutt clear.

Does it mather if the road with the ferry is already «owned» by someone else?

That is a trick question.

In your example, the road is unowned.

If the ferry was pointing left and down, blue would own the road and yellow could not place a meeple on the road.

If the ferry was pointing right and down and the piece with a city on it wasn't there, things become more interesting.  Technically you place a follower BEFORE moving the ferry, so yellow could place the follower and then move the ferry to the left and down orientation and share the road.  This rarely happens in practice.

But still you are able to move the ferry.

Yes you can place the tile and move the ferry.  You cannot place a meeple on the road.  The result would be blue scores 3 points if you move the ferry to down and right position and gets his/her meeple back.  If you moved it left and right, blue would score 5 points

If the ferry was moved to the left and right position, I don't believe you can move it again as both roads are completed.

If the ferries are threatening you marriage, I highly recommend you don't play with the Tower or Princess & Dragon... ever!
