I'm in Paris today to participate to the French National Championship. I qualified last March by winning the tournament in Lille for the second consecutive year.

We should be 6 participants: Winners of tournaments in Lille, Toulouse, Grenoble, Cannes and Paris (held yesterday), plus last year's champion.

Hélène's partner (Florent) is the French Champion of 2013 and went to Essen the same year. So she had someone good to practice with!

I'll try to let you know how it goes during the day. I only know one of the participants so far: Hélène that I met yesterday. Though I've heard that last year's champion (Mikael if I'm not mistaken) is really good. Fun thing about the event is that it's outdoors in the open air and forecast looks alright so it should be great, whatever happens! :)

One last thing: it has been confirmed by the organisers that I'd go to Essen to  represent France if I win... Strange I know, but also very kind and generous from them so I'd be very honoured if it happens. I'll try my best! :)

I did not use any of my luck during the tower league... My bag (of luck) is full, so full that it's going to crack! :)

My game against last year's champion was crazy: I won by 1 point! (116-115). My bag of luck was useful! :)

As a prize I got Pandemic Legacy and of course the trip to Essen is paid (train + hotel).

Also very happy that there was a clear consensus about me representing the country. Everybody agreed and wished me good luck... Otherwise I would have felt unconfortable. In fact, I came there with the idea that I had absolutely no chance to go to Essen so that's definitely a huge bonus!!

Jéré    97-80  Hélène     (Winner in Paris)
Jéré   100-78  Alain     (Winner in Cannes, French Champion in 2014)
Jéré   104-95  Alexandre     (Winner in Sable d'Olonne)
Jéré   111-83  Pierre-Yves     (Winner in Toulouse)
Jéré   116-115  Mickael     (French Champion in 2015)

Note: Winner in Grenoble did not show up apparently and was replaced by Alexandre, winner of another tournament.

Alain told me that in order to qualify, he participated in both Grenoble and Cannes tournaments because "it is extremely difficult to go through the 4-player games stage", he said... and I, of course, fully agree with this.
