Question #14: Blue places this abbey under Danisthirty's careful supervision. How many points does each player score?
Please indicate what set of rules you chose for your answer when dealing with Halflings and double-sized tiles (C1 or C2).
Answer #14: The placement of this abbey tile completes several features:
- The abbey just placed and occupied by
Blue- The German castle also occupied by
Blue- The road occupied by
Red and
Yellow.
- The city occupied by
Yellow- The city occupied by
Blue and
Red- The unoccupied road on the German castle tile.
Note that the Halfling tiles alone in a square are enough to occupy a square space and consider the abbey and the German monastery completely surrounded.
Depending on the ruleset used for Halflings and double-sized tiles, there will be two different outcomes.
- The C1 rules consider each tile individually no matter their shape, so two Halflings in a square count as 2 tiles, and one double-sized tile counts as 1 tile.
- The C2/C3 rules consider occupied spaces when scoring features, so two Haflings in a square count as 1 tile, and one double-sized tile counts as 2 tiles (except when scoring a long road on a Leipzig tile)
C2/C3 rules:Let's check each completed feature in turn...
Blue will score 9 points for the abbey (9 occupied spaces x 1 point). Note that the German castle counts as 2 occupied spaces.
Blue will score 12 points for the German castle (12 occupied spaces x 1 point). Note that the 2 Halflings on the right and the 2 Halflings top left are counted as 1 occupied space (or tile) each.
Red and
Yellow share the majority on the road, so both players will score 12 points (9 points for the road + 3 bonus points for the German castle):
- 9 points for the road itself (9 occupied spaces x 1 point). Note that the German castle counts as 2 occupied spaces. Additionally, the two Halflings in the space top left are counted as 1 occupied space (or tile).
- 3 bonus points for the German castle (1 German castle x 3 points). Note that even if the road ends several times at the German castle, its bonus is granted only once.
Yellow will score 2 points for the city (1 city segment x 2 points)
Blue and
Red share the city, but
Blue has the majority in the city (a major with two coats of arms vs. one normal meeple. So,
Blue alone will score 19 points for the city (16 points for the city itself + 3 bonus points for the German castle):
- 16 points for the city itself ( (6 occupied spaces + 2 coats of arms) x 2 points) = 8 x 2 points). Note that the space occupied by the mayor has two Halflings which will be counted as 1 occupied space.
- 3 bonus points for the German castle (1 German castle x 3 points).
No players will score points for the unoccupied road on the German castle tile.
Bottomline:-
Blue will score 40 points (9 points for the abbey + 12 points for the German castle + 19 points for the city)
-
Red will score 12 points for the road
-
Yellow will score 14 points (12 points for the road + 2 points for the city)
C1 rules:Let's check each completed feature in turn...
Blue will score 8 points for the abbey (8 tiles x 1 point). Note that the German castle counts as 1 tile.
Blue will score 14 points for the German castle (2 points for the German castle tile + (12 adjacent tiles x 1 point) = 2 + 12 points). Note that the 2 Halflings on the right and the 2 Halflings top left are counted as individual tiles.
Red and
Yellow share the majority on the road, so both players will score 11 points (8 points for the road + 3 bonus points for the German castle):
- 8 points for the road itself (8 tiles x 1 point). Note that the German castle counts as 1 tile only. Additionally, the two Halflings in the space top left are counted individualy, but only one of them contributes to the road in any case.
- 3 bonus points for the German castle (1 German castle x 3 points). Note that even if the road ends several times at the German castle, its bonus is granted only once.
Yellow will score 2 points for the city (1 city segment x 2 points)
Blue and
Red share the city, but
Blue has the majority in the city (a major with two coats of arms against one normal meeple. So,
Blue alone will score 21 points (18 points for the city itself + 3 bonus points for the German castle):
- 18 points for the city itself ( (7 tiles + 2 coats of arms) x 2 points) = 9 x 2 points). Note that the space occupied by the mayor has two Halflings which will be counted individually.
- 3 bonus points for the German castle (1 German castle x 3 points).
No players will score points for the unoccupied road on the German castle tile.
Bottomline:-
Blue will score 43 points (8 points for the abbey + 14 points for the German castle + 21 points for the city)
-
Red will score 11 points for the road
-
Yellow will score 13 points (11 points for the road + 2 points for the city)
