I've still got a decent amount of things to order, but missing out on Spooky Ghost Night is a bit upsetting. I was really looking forward to getting it.

This feels like a déjà vu... the ZMG rules for Big Box 6 & 7 and their mistakes all over again...

Don't forget the Tower!

I haven't picked up any non-US maps yet (thanks boardgamegeek!) so I'll be making a massive cundco order soon to try to justify shipping. I'll for sure be picking up all the rest of the maps, as well as spooky ghost night. I'll probably wait to place the order until Friday so that I can also get the Ukraine tile and the Bets at the same time (and maybe the spiel 22 tille? O.o)

The dragon will eat all the meeples on the 2x2 tile. The sames as when landing on a double-sized tile it will eat all the meeples on the tile except those in a special area such as the inner part of the city of Leipzig.

But the dragon still considers each occupied space for movement, correct?

General / Re: Do you use house rules?

Who cares if it is a minor deviation!?  The only important question is whether it is more fun for your game.  The answer is obviously yes, so this is a great house rule!

The true measure of a house rule!

I myself don't really use house rules, unless you count renaming some things for clarity (I intend to call Ghosty Spook Night Castle tiles Manors instead, for example)

General / Re: How many players in your normal Carcassonne games?

I like games with more players, but most games I actually get to play are just me and my partner.

You can't place a tower floor if you don't have any. Note that the some printed versions of the ZMG rules are incorrect: you can place a tower floor on any turn, not just one in which you draw a tile with a tower foundation. The way you worded your question makes me think you may have the incorrect rules. The corrected rules are available for download on the ZMG website.

I wonder what that red and white thing hiding on the right hand side is?

and is also the 11th expansion Ghosts, Castles and Graveyards

I find it interesting that they gave a seperate name as the "11th expansion" than as a standalone game. Does this mean something? Or am I perhaps reading too much into it?

Not from the postman, but I finally found exp. 3, which for some reason has been impossible to find in my area. Also picked up a copy of South Seas from the clearance shelf at my lgs!

I think the most fun I've had playing Carcassonne has been teaching new players the game! I get to re-live the first time I played the game! Best one was teaching a huge group of four friends - they ganged up on me and shared one massive city, all working together to block me from joining haha! They totally crushed me, and it was a blast!

General / Least fun Carcassonne game you've played?
« on: August 16, 2022, 12:18:40 PM »
What is the subjectively worst game of Carcassonne you've ever played? What made it so bad? Was it too long, or the combination of expansions unfun, or just plain bad luck, or something else entirely?

Mine was the other week playing a game with my girlfriend using the full BB6. The robbers were more of a pain than anything, being basically invalidated by the messengers. The mage and the witch were hurt by the large number of tiles as well, as they didn't come up often enough to move around at all or be actually interesting. To cap it off, the number of tiles combined with the extra time to track additional components like ferries, gold bars, etc. as well as resolving a ridiculous number of messages had the game last far too long - easily the longest game we've played - with all these other issues bugging us the whole time.
