Official Rules / City/Count of Carcassonne: sending meeples to the Cathedral

Sorry if this has been discussed before. From the wiki:

You can only place your Abbot in the cathedral in Carcassonne.

This sentence is not present in the paper rules I have and it seems contradicted by the image the game itself presents to show a move from the City Cathedral to a monastery or shrine, that is this one, showing a meeple and not an abbott being deployed to a monastery:


Can I have more info on this?

Official Rules / Why can't you capture pigs and builders with a tower?

I fail to understand the logic behind what you can and cannot capture by placing a tower floor. For example

• Abbots, Mayors, Wagons... yes
• Pigs, Builders: No

Why? Is it because they're not "meeples"?

Official Rules / Two doubts about The Toolkeepers' basic rules

This is probably very naive of me but I'd like to be sure.



1. Let's say I close a road by using a tile with a crossroad in it. Am I allowed to immediately place a toolhouse on the newly placed tile, triggering the "Tool raising" score? My understanding is that I am allowed but could you please confirm it to me? In the example Red places B, then plays a toolhouse on it and gets 5 points. Is it correct?

2. During the final scoring "you get points for all incomplete roads connected to your tollhouse". You don't have to have meeples on the incomplete road, right? They just have to start/end on your toolhouse, is this correct?

General / Goods tokens: C1 vs C2 vs C3

This is how goods tokens from different editions of the game look like (from left: C1 from BB1, C2 from BB6 and C3 from BB7):



Is it normal that the C3 one is so ugly, with so much space for the border and the very little icon?

General / Will the numbered expansion be printed in C3 style?

I'm not a fan of C3 style but there's something I like even less, and that's mixing different art style in the same game.
This means I'm not using my C3 pieces very much.
Do you think the numbered expansion (Princess&Dragon, Tower, Abbey&Mayor, etc) will get a C3 edition? Is there any info about this possibility?

Official Rules / What is "unfair play" in Carcassonne?

I was reading the wiki and one of the basic rule is: "Continue to play fairly and not intentionally unfair to other players".

I am curious, what is intended as "unfair play" in Carcassonne? Think of the following scenarios:

• let a player build a huge city until it's missing only a couple tiles then add a big meeple and steal it at the last second
• let a player build a huge city then add a Cathedral when there's not enough tile remaining for him to complete the city anymore
• two (or more) players build an ally against the player who is winning, getting him to last place
• make a player "waste" his last precious meeple by forcing him to play it (e.g. by using a corn circle tile)
• and so on...

All of these are scenarios when one of the players endure "harassment" by the other player(s) but everything is legal and in the manual, so what's supposed to be "unfair play"?
