The other day HiG made a post on IG ( https://www.instagram.com/p/CkvzgwHKTKc/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= ) speaking about scammers trying to profit off of the Ukraine map and tile. In this post the very last line (easily missed) says, “On November 18th you will get the chance to get a special tile from our official site” In fairness, it does only say “special tile” but what else could be special but the Spiel ‘22 tile?

I’ll be honest, I saw this Thursday night. Then on Friday I was busy running demos for the publisher I was with. That was followed by plans in the evening. So I never got to it on Friday. Then Saturday I had personal issues get in my way so I never really got back to see if it was still available. So I missed out on getting it but hopefully someone saw it and picked it up.

I’m attending my first Gen Con ever and I learned they have a consignment store and within that consignment store I found a used copy of the catapult expansion for $75 down $65, depending on which day I wait to buy it (a risk). The paperwork for this specific copy states it is missing 1 token but no way to verify which token this is. Is this a good deal?

For me, my #2 is a card-driven tableau / engine building game called Unfair.

Hmm… I wasn’t planning on getting a new big box but if this offers something unique then I guess I have to. Part of me wishes this was a big box with just the 20th anniversary edition included and then some of the other usuals so I wouldn’t have to get it but here we are! I wonder long until this shows up in the states if at all.

And don't forget that Z-man hasnt published anything yet!
I don’t think that is entirely true. You can purchase the 20th anniversary edition on Amazon and it is sold and shipped by Amazon. So this isn’t some 3rd party offer, but also you literally can’t get it anywhere else yet. EDIT: According to Asmodee USA, the 20th anniversary edition will be available this Friday, which if true, then friendly local game stores should be getting their copies this week. https://shop.asmodee.com/release-calendar

I may personally be late to the table on this one but I just learned today of an event taking place in 2022 called the World Series of Board Gaming. It is a multi day event featuring 16 qualifier games where players will compete to be the best at a given game with the 16 ultimate winners going on to compete in a mystery semi finals and mystery finals all to determine who is the ultimate board gamer. This event is being held in Las Vegas next year with a $250 entry fee per game (yes you could compete in all 16 games if you were so inclined) with room, etc. costing extra. This event is partly sponsored by the Dice Tower. The 16 games are Carcassonne (obviously) Catan Ticket to Ride Splendor 7 Wonders Wingspan Brass: Birmingham Blood Rage Acquire Azul Ra Gaia Project Great Western Trail Terraforming Mars Dominant Species: Marine Dune Imperium You can get all the details here, https://www.wsbgchampionship.com/ , and registration apparently goes live next month (so this Monday?). That said, do you have what it takes to be the best board gamer in the world?

I’d be lying if I said I weren’t tempted by these bags but these bags alone aren’t enough for me to place an order. I may wait until around Spiel time though I do worry I may be too little too late by that point.

So small update, I received another cundco order earlier this week and as a result I’ve received everything I’ve been expecting. I have no further complaints and I anxiously wait for the new winter edition and the 20th anniversary to become available to those of us in the US.

So…. Because there will be at least one new River tile will we as a community begin referring to this as the River IV (4)?

About 5 to 6 years ago I started collecting Carcassonne. It started with the base game and some of the expansions. From there I learned of the mini expansions and realized quickly they were becoming hard to find so I got lucky when I found local online store, Miniature Market was selling all 6. From there I eventually learned about Cundco and this forum. In that time I missed out on the Big Box 5, the first 4 Spiel tiles and all the old mini expansions like the tunnels, the plague and all the other rare ones. I know that if I really wanted those things I could spend a pretty penny on eBay for them but I’ve had no real interest in paying the eBay premiums up to this point. Well over the weekend I lucked out when I found a user on BGG was auctioning off their copy of BB5 in really great condition. I tossed a bid in and then anxiously waited. In the end I finally got my hands on a copy of BB5 for $45 + shipping. I am happy with the price I paid and I’ll be even happier when it arrives. This will finally get me the Wheel of Fortune and the River III. So as to foster a little discussion / reminiscing feel free to share any stories of you getting your hands on something hard to find.

I think I understand most of this information but let me see if I can word it in a different to show whether or not I understand it. Regarding two halflings tiles with a connected road in a “space” or a road that crosses both halves of a double tile scoring one point. I think of it this way, each “tile” scores one point per road / city segment BUT each “space” can only score a MAX of one point. This explains two halfling tiles with a connected road in one space being worth 1 point total. This explains the road on one of the market spaces being worth one point. You’re adhering to the one point per “tile” rule without violating the max one point per “space” rule. The key word is “max” implying a space can score less than one point on average (0.5 in the case of a double tile). Of course this assumes we’re talking about incomplete features. If we’re talking about a completed city, for instance, you’d double the number as per usual. So that’d be two points per tile but a max 2 points per space.
Have I made sense of these recent clarifications.

I am curious to know if any folks living in the US have yet to receive any of their orders from SPIEL.Digital onward?

I am in the US and I’ve placed two separate orders (October 22 and November 20) and so far nothing has arrived. Way back in March I placed an order for just the halflings. That order never shipped because of the pandemic. By the time I was told it could ship I just cancelled it in favor of a new order during SPIEL Digital. Then I placed another order during the start of their advent season. So far all I have received is a set of the halflings. I’ve reached out to Cundco and all I was told is that these things take time.
