Hello everyone,
I want to share the tile drawn by Marcel Gröber (designer of the C3 stylish games) during the festival in Carcassonne city in September for the 20th anniversary
(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221209/ed995bf66c21f47fe15be104cf26d79f.jpg)
As a fan, player and collector. I can not be happier to have a tile with my effigy !
I printed a lot of thoses tiles on official blank tiles, so if anyone want one, I will be happy to send one (you only have to pay the stamp)

Hey,
That’s a tile designed by Marcel Grober during the event in carcassonne for the 20th anniversary
He spent the saturday drowning people on tile and he sent the file some weeks after.
I print mine (and also the one from oldbonz )

That's amazing! I had no idea he did this.

On Discord, we have already gathered 4 of these tiles now. Possibly awaiting 2 more tiles.
Maybe we can make a tiny mini expansion out of them...?
There have been already 2 suggestions of rules:
Horus: consider them like "The festival" tiles (in move wood phase you can take a meeple back)
Scott: If you complete a city which includes your own tile, you score double points
Any other suggestions?

I have one also, is it possible to see the other 4?
-
Hi oldbonz, your tile is part of the 4 :)
Can somebody else from Discord please upload the two others here? I have currently no dropbox/Google Drive etc available and therefore cannot share photos...
Thanks!

More suggestions:
Linksux: the person in the tile is called "giant" (that's a great idea !! :(y) ); the giant scares farmers and therefore all farmers have to leave the field as soon as a giant is on it
Challa: the giant helps farmers, i.e. on a field with a giant all cities score +1 point... Or (other possibility) to have the tile on ones field gives a bonus of +5 points...
Any other suggestions?

Cool! Thanks

Thanks!
These are all great tiles :)
I think the rule you made for your tile is too negative :-\
Your tile should be associated with something overwhelmingly positive :D
Thus my counter-proposition:
Challa: the giant helps farmers, i.e. on a field with a giant all cities score +1 point... Or (other possibility) to have the tile on ones field gives a bonus of +5 points...
-
what is the rule for this tile?
-
we are still working on the rules -
do you have an idea how you would like to use your tile?
-----------------------
suggestions from the community are welcome...
-
the final decision on the rules should be with Linksux and you, of course :)
-
Thanks!

I like the idea of one tile add a bonus and combine with others custom tiles add a super bonus
+1 point per cities is too simple and similar to the pig, maybe something with an impact on the point of the cities directly ?
My proposition : if a player place a meeple on the city of the giant’s tile (of course giant is not a final thing), the city can not be attacked by an other player.
the effect can be canceled if an other custom tile is played: the player is allowed to place directly a meeple on the occupied city
Maybe too powerful ? I m bad as making rules I need to test thoses things

you are right, that's maybe too powerful. May I suggest a sightly different version:
the giant helps a meeple cross the outer wall of the city, and therefore the meeple has direct access to the city.
This means when you add a "giant" tile to a city you can place one of your meeples on the city segment EVEN IF the city is already occupied.

Yes but that’s some work to work on the pdf directly.
I want to make sure about the rule before update :)

you have to think that several giants could be introduced in the game (for now 4)

Another tile for your enjoyment!

Thanks Meepledrone, now we got 5
Maybe we can ask Marcel Grober for the others tiles ?
So with all the tiles configuration it will be easier to think about the rules

I'm pretty sure his answer will be no.
The tiles are made personally for the people who were there. Without having their explicit permission, I'm pretty sure he won't send the images out to others, and I doubt he'll reach out to all of them :o
He might share how many were made, and we could try to ask on (public) fora if people would like to share theirs?
-
It's look like that there were used only 3 type of tiles CCFF, CFff and CcFf.
Actually, that illustrations are awesome.
Thanks all for sharing.

Yes you are probably right,
I don't know how to reach as many people as possible. on the carcassonne fan France group on Facebook only one person shared his tile :-/

They drew that AT the festival? Wow thats so detailed and cool! I kind of like the Giant taking over the field rules but excited to see what ideas come about
-
So, did you decide on the rules @Linksux ? :D
I fear there will not be much more feedback... or are there any last minutes comments?
-
The tile finally arrived after 2 months.
Merci beaucoup, Linksux!

Is this tile welcome to the party?

woooooooooooooo ;D
we have a sixth tile !!!!!!!!! :) :) :)
Now we definitely need rules..... @Linksux @oldbonz @Meepledrone
-
Oh great, now I'm going to have to make one of these tiles for each member of our "four person weekly game group", which, as of two weekends ago is now a five member group!
Guess I'm going to have to take a relaxing picture of each of our members!
Should I also make Halfling tiles for each of our grand children?
-
That sounds like a deep rabbit hole to me!
Have fun!!!
-
Meepledrone had the good idea to do this with the starting tile, on the other hand for an extension, this can become an obstacle, but Linksux will find
-
I don't think it needs to be used as starting tile, this tile also exists in the normal base game (other than starting tile)
-
Now we got 6 tiles! I’m sure something is possible to do and made an expansion with a cool rules !
I’m terribly bad (and new) at making rules
Let’s start again and think about it,
Something positive, because it was drawn during a festival, so let’s be festive, it must add a bonus.
Something about the field? Because the drawings are on the fields.
Ok i will try :
when pausing the special tile on a field that belong to you, the « giant » (or other term : the fan?) increase the value of the cities in the field for your farmers + 1 point per city
it is possible to combine tiles in the same field to multiply the points !
- 1 giant : + 1 point
- 2 giants : + 2 points
- 3 giants : + 3 points per city
- etc
Like the pig of the ext. 2 but it can be increased by the number of the special tiles
-
So +1 point per city per giant, right?
-
Looks nice!!!
-
So +1 point per city per giant, right?
Yup, simple.
New idea :
At the start of the game, the Marcel tiles are distributed to each player (number of tiles to be defined according to the number of players / 2 per player? More in a two players game?)
Then at any time after their turn, a player can play the special tile according the classic rules. It’s like the person on the tile give a little help during the game :)

Oh, I like that second idea much better. You mean the giant tile is like a second turn, right?

Great!
I really like this idea better, because the first one might give monumental points advantage on fields which will disturb the balance of the game overall.
The second idea includes the possibility that we can come accross many more of those Marcel Gröber tiles from the Carcassonne event without having to change the rules. Remember, there are at least 20 more of such tiles out there!!
The player can decide at the beginning of the game how many giant tiles they want to give to each player (according to the number of giant tiles available at that moment and according to the number of players participating in the game)
Love it! :(y)
-
Great tiles! The images all seem to imply relaxation, so here is a rules proposal:
When a special tile is drawn, it is placed as usual. But no meeple may be placed on the tile. In fact, no meeple may be placed by any following player on their next turn, so the next occasion when a meeple could be placed will be on the next turn of the player who originally drew the special tile. (You could prohibit all "move wood" actions and even the dragon would not move!)
This might be too many idle turns? (Actually, maybe I'll try this as a house rule for any FFFF tiles with no cloister.)
Anyway, have fun. Would love to see a photo of a final landscape where all these tiles were in play!

There are 26 existing tiles exactly with the meepedrone’s tile.
But I don’t think we can’t get more than the 6 we already have…
What oldbonz and Meepledrone think about the idea of playing a second turn with the special tile when ever a player want ? (tiles distributed at the start of the game)

It reminds the players to read the rules of the game (and ask for clarification) before starting the game! ;D ;D ;D

Haha, I am sure this is the coolest thank you video they received for the custom tiles from the Carcassonne Event… :D
Better late than never … ;)
-
@Meepledrone did you see that @Linksux is waiting for an answer concerning the rules? (See 3 posts earlier)
-
Yes... ha ha ha!
You could povide various rules sets:
* No points and maybe starting tiles
* Field points buster (+1 point giant in a field) - giant tiles shuffeled as usual
* Additional turn (one giant tiles per player distributed at random during game setup)
You could also use a similar mechanic to The Astronomers (by @Decar ), where you get points when placing the tile and extra points if aligned with other giant tiles placed previously:
https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=1902.msg30330#msg30330 (https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=1902.msg30330#msg30330)
Why not providing new options? >:D
-
Well, if you want something "new" then the rules of the Astronomers are "old" too ;)
I had suggested the following rules (as something new):
The giant helps a meeple climb the outer wall of the city, and therefore the meeple has direct access to the city.
This means when you add a "giant" tile to a city, you can place one of your meeples on the city segment EVEN IF the city is already occupied
-
Ahhhhhh! So many options... ^-^
-
another way is possible, each player starts the game with a giant in his reserve, he places it when he wants during the game on his turn, he places a meeple on it, when the 8 adjacent tiles are placed he takes back his meeple, does not count points but has the possibility of playing with an additional follower
-

Nice idea! This one sounds particularly fun, and appropriate to the giant theme.

soon some of us will have 5 different tiles, we can consider, since the giants are in the fields, that the player who places his giant can place a farmer on the area that interests him if it is not occupied
-
mistake on my part, 6 tiles, and here they are together

Hey @oldbonz,
yes, it's 6 tiles now, but the black man standing is not from Marcel Gröber. You missed the man lying in the field.... :D
