Title: Carcassonne Suedsee - the new stand-alone-game 2013

Beschreibung:

Description:
Carcassonne goes under the motto "Carcassonne around the world" in the South Pacific. Players lay tiles according to the well-known principle and make your male on this. But, with no more points collected but fruit and other exotic goods. With these goods again, they secure the favor of the dealer. The player who could pull the most influential traders on his side, wins the game. A new, stand-alone Carcassonne game in a new world.

This new stand-alone-game for the Carcassonne family will come out this year in October.
I didn't play the game yet, because of the flood in June.

I think yes - why not?
But the release by Z-Man needs some time - because of the translation...

From what I'm able to pick out of that automatic translation, this sounds very interesting. The scoring mechanics have been completely turned around. Based on the name of the game, I'm expecting a lot of ocean tiles.

Its definitely hard to tell from this point ... But it seems there might be a trading element in this one?

Will this game take into account the rising sea levels for the island nations in that region?  :-)

Here's the game box (http://www.spielbox-online.de/aktimgsp/A1378101832.jpg)

Quote
the latest edition of Klaus-Jurgen Wrede's masterpiece plays Carcassonne Carcassonne South Seas in the Caribbean is the title. Besides the game box, we do not have any further information about the game. Whether now the water meadows to the cities to islands, is pure speculation. But what stands out is a button on the cover: "Carcassonne Around the World" is to read them, and suggests that this is the beginning of a new series. We create two, three, many of Carcassonne ...

Update: Now the first details were known: the players place their meeples to collect bananas, shellfish or fish that need to be shipped then to get points.

Seems like it is a new series of Carcassonne..

Thanks for the photo Icydarkstary.  Merit for you.

It looks interesting, but I kinda hope it's not too close to Skipboris's Oceans.  That would be awkward.

Thanks for the pic; I posted on our Facebook page.

I suspect the first fan expansion will be to add new trade goods. Maybe people should start calling dibs on which goods they want to add?

So it looks like "trade routes" are going to replace roads. I wouldn't be surprised to see the ability to claim the individual routes. However, I also notice little arrows on the routes, suggesting directions of trade, perhaps?

Main differences to regular Carcassonne: You score trade goods, not points. There are trading ships, the need special combinations of trad goods. When you have the right trade goods you get the ship. At the end of the game the player with most ships has won.

Z-Man Games posted this yesterday on Facebook:

Quote
What's it about?

South Seas - Clear blue waters flow effortlessly around seemingly countless islands all connected by a sophisticated network of bridges. It is here that the busy people who inhabit this heavenly paradise frolic around to gather the gifts granted to them by nature. Fish from the sea, bananas from the islands' trees - the bridges are crowded with shell collectors showing off their latest find. From time to time, even merchant ships will dock at the island in search of cargo; the islander that supplies the merchants with the wares they seek is well rewarded for their trouble.
The players take turns placing land tiles on the table. These tiles create Bridges, Islands, Sea Regions and Markets, on which the players may place their Islanders in order to collect the various Wares.
At the end of each turn, the active player may choose to deliver Wares to a Ship in order to score points. Once all of the Land tiles have been placed or all the Ships have been supplied with Wares, the game is over and the player with the most points is crowned King of the South Seas.

I think I will get my Carc-Suedsee at the exhibition modell-hobby-spiel in Leipzig - 04.10.2013. And I will ask Klaus-Juergen Wrede, if he would sign it.

South Pacific feeling in Leipzig

In a few days, it's time! The Leipzig model-hobby-spiel, Europe's largest public exhibition for model making, games and creative design opens your doors. For the first time, a new Carcassonne game will be presented at the Leipzig fair.
With Carcassonne South seas, the popular family game for the first time puts us in tropical climes.
Of course, author Klaus-Juergen Wrede will be also there and like to sign one of the 1,000 games exclusively in Leipzig for sale.

I'd like to play it with Udo Schmitz (Carcassonne-on-Tour) in June 2013, but the flood here in Germany made it not happen.
So no, I didn't played it yet - but next week I will play Carcassonne-Suedsee the first time.

The colour of the Island segments seem to make it possible to play South Sea as an expansion to regular Carcassonne.
So I have already two ideas for possible fan expansions to the combined Carc / South Sea.

No one of the other spinoffs have made that possible, apart from New World that have tiles that are quite close in colour.

These new designed Meeple have a new nickname: Freeple
The Fr is because the Meeple are picking up Fruits.

I have to say: there are not many meeple in the box, but really many wooden trade goods...

Since today I can talk more about Carcassonne Suedsee (Carcassonne South Sea).

This stand alone game has only 20 meeple or freeple. 4 for each player (5 colours).
The wooden trade goods: banana, shellfish and fish -  20 of each (10 big ones and 10 small ones).

999 Games published a video at their homepage.
The video explains the rules for Carcassonne-South Sea.
This video is spoken in Dutch.

Today for the first time I saw live the Italian edition of a mini convention of the board game, there were several copies for sale, but I could not buy it because I ordered it at a friend's shop, I have not tried the game but personally I spied a table where they were trying ;)

Here comes some more information about the video:

There are only 3 meeple of each players colour on the table.
Where are the fourth meeple of each colour?
The  :red-meeple: :blue-meeple: :black-meeple: are actors.

video scene:
:blue-meeple: - shell
:red-meeple: - fish
:black-meeple: - banana

And the fourth of the  :green-meeple:  is the camaraman behind the scene...

The motto is:
Meeple at work in the South Sea...
