The NK Carcassonne 2022 will be held on the 24th of April 2022, in Veldhoven.
Entry to the tournament itself is free, but you do have to register and pay entry for the convention where it's held (Zuiderspel).
You can sign up
here.
Maximum of 256 players, playing in the following format:
- 3 rounds of 3,4 or 5 player games (depending on the amount of players in the tournament)
- Depending on amount of players at a table, points are scored:
- 1st = 5 points
- 2nd = 3 points
- 3rd = 2 points
- 4th = 1 point
- 5th = 0 points
A draw will see points for the places added up and divided by the amount of players (so if 2 people draw for 3rd, they see (2+1)/2= 1.5 points each)
- 45 mins max playtime
- If after 45 mins the game has not finished, the round is finished giving everyone equal amount of turns, before end scoring is initiated
After the 3 rounds, the top 16 move on to the finals
- All finals (eight/quarter/semi/full) are 1v1 knockouts
- The winner gets to represent The Netherlands in Essen for the World Championships
- Games are played as per the standard Dutch rules, with the following clarifications/changes:
- You draw a tile at the end of your turn (you don't have to show it to your opponent(s)
- The end of the table is the end of the field (it doesn't say, but this does imply that features are not completed by the end of the table, just left incomplete)
- Small cities are 4 points, not 2 (don't know why they are clarifying a rule that got changed in their rulebooks as well back in 2002, but it seems for some reason that 999 is still confused by this)
- Farmers are laid flat
- Farms are counted as per majority of farmers. The player(s) with the most farmers get 3 points per completed city.
This rule is different from the Dutch rules, but this was changed in other countries and used on the WC, so we use this(I actually have commented on 999's post about this, as this is not the case, and was changed in the NL rules in 2002 just like everywhere else, so quite sloppy from them i'd say)Other notes:
- Players are expected to know the rules of the base game
- You cannot talke to players, or otherwise help them, during the games
- You don't have to have the Dutch nationality to enter this tournament, however you then won't be able to represent NL in Essen
- Minimum age for participants is 8 year
