Carcassonne Advent Calendar 2016

Most of you are already aware of the Community Project we started back in December 2015 - see here.

Today is the first day of Advent!
Members from CarcassonneCentral and Carcassonne-Forum have banded together to produce an array of mini-expansions to share with the world. 

A huge thank you to Ratz65 for translating several of the English Translations to German at very short notice!

Hey Decar, thank you very much for this nice Advent Calendar event. Great thing!

But some questions comes in my mind:

What about the copyrights of the used graphics? It is important to use free graphic or much better, the graphics from originial Carcassonne, because we have the permission from HiG to use the original graphic for our expansions.

And I think, it is important that the rules templates contains a sections about all those copyright things. The German templates have such a section. It is the wish from HiG, so such a section in the templates is mandatory.

These questions are very important.  I am not familiar with the correct legal notice which needs to be included.  Is the English legal notice the same as this one?  HiG are aware of the advent calendar; however they were unable to make time to discuss it with me.   I will not have time to transpose all 24 expansions into templates which include such a legal notice before the 19th December.  I think it is reasonable to include the legal notice as a separate file with each expansion.  The expansions can be formatted correctly before being made available from the download section once December is complete.

Are you able to provide me with some correctly worded notices?

I will refrain from posting more expansions until we can resolve this questions, as it is important the expansions are handled correctly.

You will distribute your expansion on-line and for free, or not at all. You may not use fan-made expansions and/or variants for commercial purposes.

Hi Decar,
all these fan-expansions for the advent calendar will published first here in the expansions workshop and not in the download section. But before the expansions could come into the download sections they need some work - for example then they need the correct CarcC rule template.

Please forward with the advent calendar. It is a great thing and I like it.

Dear Decar,

there are three things to consider:

- I'm not sure if all authors of these expansions are using free graphics for the tiles. In the German Carcassonne-Forum from time to time we had several discussions regarding the use of specific artwork. Because we have the permissiom from HiG to use the original artwork we can easily avoid every copyright infringement. A copyright infringement can cause some trouble for the forum administrators. Therefore it would be wise to make some regulations for the authors.

- The Rules templates of the German Carcassonne-Forum were developed with respect of the copyright problems. You will find in the template a copyright section (legal restrictions). This section fulfilled all the requirements of HiG. And for the whole template HiG gives the OK in the end. The Carcassonne Central template does not contain such a section. So it is important to correct or improve this template as soon as possible. Last year there were some suggestions to use the "HiG proofed" German templates for Carcassonne Central too. So far I know these suggestions were refused by the authors of CarcC. I cannot understand this decision. Otherwise, the discussion of the templates leads to no result! So it is important to clean the situation regarding the templates. I have the same suggestion: use the "HiG proofed" templates (of course with English texts and the Carcassonne Central Logo ).

- What about the Advent Calendar? Decar, please continue your Advent Calendar. The Copyright Notice file that you've added to each download folder is a good idea. It should help for the moment.

Unserer Erweiterung enthält den Hinweis. Ende Dezember kann man nach und nach die Erweiterungen in von HIG genehmigte Vorlagen einfügen.
