Whats your Favourite Tile?

So it seems (from a quick search of the forums) this topic has not been discussed in about 7 years but I was giving some thought to what my favourite Carcassonne Tile would be. For me it has to be from Hunters & Gatherers as thats the version of Carc I grew up playing and exclusively played for almost 20 years. Within that I had a couple of stand out candiates. The Starting Tile was one of these, in H&G V1 it has a volcano on for a start and when I saw that on a table as a 6 year old kid (as it still does) it filled my head with the possibilities and fun of the game ahead. However I eventually settled on a different tile from that set. One that I think does not quite look as pretty but the emotion of drawing it, or seeing your opponent draw it, was what gave it the edge. So here it is, my favourite tile;



Not only do I think its a great looking tile (albeit with a sad lack of Volcano) but whenever I draw it from the Bonus Stack it always brings me a big smile as I could usually get 11+ points for its placement (7+ from a Fisherman and 4 end game on hut points) and that would be ontop of the score I just had for finishing the forest that allows me to get this bonus tile. Seeing an opponent draw it also always crushes my soul a little so I think that feeling is an indicator of how much I like this tile.

So what is everyone else's favourite tile in their collection (from any Carc of course)? I know that is a tough question as some people on here have 9k+ plus tiles but hey, one has to be a fave right? It can be for any reason, nostalgia, how hard and satisfying it was to get if it's a rare one or how it turned the tide of one game.

From Expansion #1, Inns & Cathedrals.

For me, this tile represents the great improvement in the game that came with Exp#1 and Exp#2: diversity of tile topology.  My first substantive post on the Forum was on this topic almost 1 year ago.  I think that is my best post, too.

From a tile creation perspective, it would probably have to be my "last" one, or my "next" one ...

I'll have a look through my tile designs and see which I'm most proud about.

Ha, it's funny that wolnic just commented.  He's made so many beautiful tiles, but his covered bridge with the Autumn colored Mayflower tile is one of my all time favorites.  It just makes me happy every time I see it.  Seriously, if I could blow it up and hang it in my house I would.  I'm also partial to the fantastic tiles he made for the Cosmic Portal Mirror Zone expansions (see my avatar!) and forever grateful he volunteered his incredible skills to collaborate on my idea.

One of my other all time favorite tiles is by another incredible artist: oldbonz.  His Altoona city tile for Winter Gold Rush makes me happy too because it's a beautiful tile of my home town.  And the fact that he graciously made it  upon suggestion shows that oldbonz is also an incredibly nice guy!   

Great post idea, OJH1997.  Looking forward to more members' favorite tiles!

Thanks ker42 for your kind words. I should add that the "Autumn Mayflower" tiles use C1 grass and roads, buildings and towns from NewWorld/Mayflower, with Fall foliage trees added. The covered bridge was made from the wooden defences from the New World towns.

I think all the Spiel tiles are some of the best looking, and maybe one day I'll be able to own them aha

I can see why you like this, I would say as someone that grew up with Hunters & Gatheres that had many was to split forests it did feel like that was missing when I dipped into base Carc.

As for everyone posting thier own creation tiles, wish I had that artistic ability aha
