Unusual Editions of Carcassonne
« on: September 22, 2013, 09:32:33 AM »
Has anybody seen anything like this before?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250952566692?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

It's an edition of Carcassonne that comes in a tin box and is packaged with what looks like Traders & Builders. I'm not thinking about buying it as such, just curious as I've never seen this before.

I know it.
This is the "old" tin box - from many years ago.

The Carcassonne base game and the 2nd expansion traders and builders.

This tin box you can regular buy at CundCo Shop:

Spiel III Carcassonne Metallbox
http://www.cundco.de/shop/?tx_dkdshop%5Bcategory%5D=15&tx_dkdshop%5Bproduct%5D=121

Please mark all the letters and copy them into a new page of your browser - because of the umlaut-monster...

Price at CundCo Shop: 29,99 EUR

The trader:
spieldomizil.de
has also some pieces and figures made of wood.
The prices are correct.

This trader prefers the payment without PayPal.

This edition of basegame and Traders & Builders has one disadvantage: It has only the 5 colours of the base game. And the cardboard is not grey, but white - if you play with the regular edition and this edition, you can sort the tiles easily.

Disadvantage ?
That's an advantage.
Now it became interesting.
Pity that I didn't know that last week when I made an order from cundco.

I picked up one of these tins from a seller on eBay (in the USA surprisingly). It's a nice edition and yeah, it has weird white paper tiles akin to those that come in The City. The copy I got also came with German versions of Inns & Cathedrals and Princess & Dragon. They had the instruction sheets in there too but obviously no boxes.

For me the white cardboard is an advantage, too.

The white back is great but are the tiles made in a different material (like The City) ?
Can you see a difference in colour when placing them next to original tiles.

The material of the cardboard is white like the tiles from "The City". The back is grey, but the light grey is slightly different. The colours of the front are almost the same as in regular Carcassonne editions. But the tiles are a little thicker.
