I've been thinking about repurposing the fair tiles (from Catapult) as "garden" tiles and implementing the abbot rules from the new Carcassonne version. Are the Abbot meeples for sale anywhere? I'm not really interested in getting another copy of the base game just for the Abbots (and then still not having one in grey!).

As far as I know, you can only get them with purchasing the new base game. I tried to order them separately from CundCo, but the didn't want to sell them without the game.

Indeed. Everything I've seen so far has said that these will not be available separately.

If I want to play the abbot I will probably use a spare builder and place a small rubber band to mark it and voila! (to quote the carcassonne 2 manual) I will have me an Abbot

True. They could be anything really provided they can be told apart from all other types of meeple/ follower in play...

That I what I enjoy about this game over computer based games. If you don't like the way a tile or meeple or token works then you can just create a new role for it and keep on having fun.
