Congratulation to Rosco, he did really deserve the wins.

First game was predetermined by him outwinning me the huge city and being able to close it fast. I had a small chance to win the farm back, but it was a gamble hoping for the last cloister, plus he also had a well placed meeple, which might have even won him the farm. Second game seemed closer during the game, but since he managed, that I could not finish the 11 point city, chances for me were slim, too, because I did not score enough points in game.

Other Games / Klask
« on: October 09, 2017, 05:35:19 AM »
Klask is a game, I played a few times on a public game weekend and instantly bought my own copy. It is a dexterity game in the vain of Table Football or Air Hockey, but with a smaller foot print (though it will still take much more space on your shelf then most other games) and more fun, too!

Each player gets a magnetic pawn to place on a board and a corresponding piece, to move the pawn from under the board. You can only move on your half of the board, because of a wall between the two halves of the field below. Main goal is to get a marble into a round pit, functional the opponents goal. But there are also three tiny magnets on the field, and if you manage to connect two of them on the other players pawn (by aiming the ball on it or him collecting them accidental, you also score a point. Additional possibilities to score are, that the opponent might sink his pawn into his goal or looses control over it, if he launches it across the board to your side, where he can't pick it up again with his piece below.

I must say, this game is a sheer fun as a starter for any game evening. Yes, it plays strictly 2, but a match (to 6 points) is always fast and normally fun to watch, too. So you can consider it in larger groups, too.

I too just ordered a set today. Merit to Jim for bringing that up!

I really "need" only 2 of them to go with the 2 extra colours of meeple I have, but it was cheaper to get a full colour set, then just the 2 colours, which would come with 10 pieces per colour anyway. I guess, I will eventually trade away the extra colours in a BGG math trade, so this might become a quite cheap deal, anyway.

Sure, forgot about that one. But it's not an official KJW/HiG spin off, like I was thinking about.

I'm really surprised, there is still no Cthulhu-Carcassonne (yet). Sure, it's just a matter of time. Not, that I'm looking forward to it, but about as much as to the Star Wars one.

I played it once a few months ago, and really liked it. (Though I was pretty bad at it, and a kid truncated all of us adults.)

Went with "7 Wonders", too. Don't like TtR much, like mentioned before. "Catan" brought me to the hobby (right from beginning wit expansions), and I like it, just feel, that "vanilla Catan" is just not enough, prefer it much more with either "Cities & Knights" and possible a few other small expansions or "Explorers & Pirates". "Pandemic" I have 2 solo plays and zero multiplayer "under my belt", so not enough to put  vote on it.

Chooselife vs. Hounk 0:2

This came really as a surprise, as Chooselife is in general the much better Carcassonne player then me. First was Chooselife's "home game", which was really close all game long. Many cloister points gave me the edge, and I was lucky he did not get the right tile to outwin me on a 6 points (very likely) or 12 points (less likely, due to my blocking) farm. In the end, I won by two points.

Second game was even weirder. I totally missed, that both road cloisters were out and worked my way to outwin the big fat farm, in case I get the second one. It took me till the last tile to be aware of my mistake. I actually blocked one of my farmers myself with a cloister, because at that time, I needed the other fitting tile, a curve road, as well for another farmer. Though I was aware, that I scored more ingame points, I totally expected the farm would be enough for Chooselife, but in the end, I won by 10 points.

Online Games and Competitions / Re: South Seas Tournament Yucata

It was indeed fun, although the way I wanted it to play out with live games was not actually possible with the crowd at Yucata.

I'm considering starting a new tournament this summer, but most definitely not before the second half of July. Like mentioned in the Mini-League-sign-up thread, I couldn't even take part there for time issues now. I will be at a film festival next week, and my nice is having her wedding and my sister is coming to visit.

I've not played a board game based on the Tron light bikes but it sounds quite similar to Tsuro with one big difference (assuming the boardgame follows the game in the film).
I think, you misunderstood me. I don't know a "Tron board game" either. I just pointed out, that this board game resembles the idea of a "light bike" game to a degree.
