Long time, no see, friends!

We are trying to use JCloisterZone for the first time, to play with family members halfway around the world, but we can't figure out how to successfully host a game and have the other party join it.

I get that the host needs to click "New Game" and, while the host is still on the game setup screen, the other party needs to use the "Connect" button to join. But what exactly does the connecting party put in for the "Host" and "Port" fields? And how do I as the host know what those numbers are?

Is Host my computer's IP Address? And how do I find out my Port?

Thank you for any help!

Unofficial Rules / Bards of Carcassonne - pennants (and wells)
« on: December 05, 2016, 12:46:48 AM »

Quick question for Trebuchet if you read this, or others if you have opinions: Would note tokens in a city make pennants worth +1 points each (like a cathedral)? Or is the rule meant to strictly apply to # of city tiles (and not pennants)? I'm leaning toward the former, even though the rules don't say that.

The answer to this question will answer my question about note tokens' relationship to meepleater's Wells as well.

General / Help with uploading to Downloads section
« on: September 26, 2016, 09:26:04 AM »

I just tried twice three times to upload a fan expansion to the Downloads section, but I am receiving the error message: "You need to enter a download title." I have all fields filled in, including the Title field.

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

Also, I think there is a file-size limit for the Downloads section, but I cannot find what it is. Can someone enlighten me? I am pretty sure my current .zip file, at 18 MB, is too big. (I can certainly reduce the filesize by hosting the 600dpi tile graphics separately on my Google Drive, and including lower-resolution graphics for the CarcC download if I must, though it seems a bit silly to have to do that.)

UPDATE: just found this topic where is seems the limit is about 7 megabytes. I guess I'll try to get my file down to this size and try again... although it would be nice if the site threw me the right error message to let me know what the problem was. Is there a reason for the file size limit?

Thanks for any help!

Reviews & Session Reports / Carcassonne in Thailand
« on: July 20, 2016, 05:40:24 AM »
We recently took our first family vacation since moving to Thailand, and my wife and I got in a game of Carcassonne with the beach/ocean in view. I thought I'd share a couple photos. We used Inns & Cathedrals, Hills & Sheep, The School, and Castles in Germany (1 each).

In the second, you can see that the table we played on introduced an expansion of sorts -- I called it "The Pit." It definitely influenced gameplay in a fun way. (This picture was taken mid-game, but we ended up building around The Pit quite a bit by the end).

I ended up winning by 4 points, mostly due to a farm of mine that had grown bigger than either of us had noticed until we counted at the end. :)

I have been unable to find English translations of a seemingly popular CarcF fan-expansion, PresetM's "Die Bibliotheken" (Libraries). Google Translate fails me here.

Would anyone be able to help me understand how this fan-expansion works, or point me to an existing translation? Thank you!

General / Halflings I or Halflings II
« on: January 10, 2016, 04:17:00 PM »
Just curious what you all think about the two Halflings expansions... and, if you prefer one, why?

(By the way, both are for sale at Cundco right now. I ordered Halflings II back in December, then they put Halflings I up for sale this month... and that's what got me curious about people's opinions. It's kind of funny that you can get both "the Cundco one" and "the Spielbox one" from Cundco right now.  :P)
