The very talented designers at MeepleSource have offered to help us create a mascot for Carcassonne Central!

Meeple Source have already run 7 successful Kickstarter campaigns introducing hundreds of meeple designs to be used in Carcassonne and for many other desktop games. You can see them here (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/meeplesource/character-meeples-20-upgrade-your-gaming-experienc?ref=carccentral). The new Kickstarter is currently active - go and check it out!

Our forum's very own Danisthirty was immortalized by Meeple Source in their first Campaign:
So now is Carcassonne Central's chance to join the ranks of brilliant designs! Over the course of the Kickstarter campaign we will be running a series of polls to vote and determine how our mascot will look. For now suggesting ideas, or even submitting pictures would be fantastic. Ask yourself what should Carcassonne Central's mascot look like? Perhaps a feudal knight, perhaps a wild dragon - We'd love to hear your thoughts!
If you can find a lot more information about Meeple source here www.meeplesource.com (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/meeplesource/character-meeples-20-upgrade-your-gaming-experienc?ref=carccentral)
The New campaign is launching on August 9th.

Survey sent.
(Not wanting to downplay other users importance) I've to say that the "DanMeeple" would be a quite fair mascot of CarcCentral. Considering that Dan puts a lot of effort on the community.
With the bonus that if I add some hair on top, glasses and paint the tea (bear) yellow with would be a fair representation of the "ChooseMeeple". ;D
-
This is about the forum and its community so the meeple cannot represent one person.
A CC shaped meeple may be a good option and quite unique to this forum so it can be recognized worldwide.
Or, if too costly a standard meeple with CC on it.
I've also completed the survey.

I'm pretty sure this was just a joke! :P

As much as I like the idea of a custom shape for a CarcC mascot meeple, it would seem like a shame to me if we didn’t embrace the classic meeple shape as we represent Carcassonne which is the game that introduced this classic figure to the world of boardgames. Let’s at least try to stay true to our heritage! C:-)
Although I haven’t given it a lot of thought and am generally pretty rubbish at designy things, my idea of a CarcC mascot meeple is that it should be part knight, part thief, part monk and part farmer. It should also feature the classic "C" from the back of a Carcassonne tile somewhere. For example, the meeple could be holding a shield (knight), holding a pitchfork in the other hand (farmer), wearing a cross around his neck (monk) and be doing/ wearing something to represent the thief. Additionally, he could have the C symbol on his shield.
Or, we might somehow try to include things that are important/ unique to this community or that represent us. So, the CAR is a good example of this. Maybe it could be a meeple clutching a very thick book of instructions? I don’t know what else it may include, this is just another example. ;)
Looking forward to seeing what other ideas/ designs people have to offer! :(y)

I've also completed the survey.
Me too!

I've been trying to come up with Carcassonne artifacts associated with game, things like all the different types of meeple, the flyers die, but perhaps someone could form a better list.
I'm also wondering if perhaps everyone could be included in a meeple. Perhaps to represent me it could wear red scarf. Dan a handsome beard, Paul would make it yellow, kettlefish a fairy meeple. Chooselife some glasses. Mr Numbers would be numbers of course, wolnic would have owly feathers. But there are so many members here it would be incredibly hard to represent everyone in the smallest way.
-
Perhaps the mascot should represent the game more than any current members.
I personally like the idea of using the meeple shape and a shield.
The shield could contain a logo that could, perhaps, represent farmer, monk and robber. Or a specific design that is the essence of Carcassonne central.
The meeple itself could be coloured equally in the 5 base colours black, red, blue, yellow and green.
Just my thoughts/ideas.

As the mascot the Meeple is quite iconic. Anyway just an idea, along the lines of the images below. (I've sited the sites where they were lifted from.)
It might not be the most original idea but could be fun and even more fun to try and get this character in the game ... saving some poor trapped meeple ;D
Could the stylized Carc 'C' be used on a sticker as the 'Super' symbol?
It would also be cool to have a cape!

A flying cape might come in handy next time a meeple gets trapped!
Thanks for the ideas everyone, they'll all be put forward to help the polls.

I have created the first poll: What Theme should our MeepleSource Mascot take? (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=2845.0)
-
On a separate, but related note it would be fantastic if Twitter Users would consider retweeting our currently Pinned post about the design:

Many Thanks!

I would have liked to have seen a few more votes on the Theme Poll, but the results are in and the topic has been locked:
It should be a mixture of all 4 of the above. 6 (33.3%)
It should be a solely a Knight, Thief, Monk or Farmer 5 (27.8%)
It should look like a super hero - with a cape! 4 (22.2%)
It should not be a classical Meeple - eg: 'CC', a combination of colours. 3 (16.7%)
The consensus is to follow Danisthirty's suggestion: The meeple will be of classical shape and be "part knight, part thief, part monk and part farmer". Now we must decide how each of these followers will be represented.
Which takes us to our next poll:
How should the knight be represented? (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=2850.0)
-
With an overwhelming majority the Shield will represent our MeepleSource Mascot!
With a Shield 9 (75%)
With a helmet/visor 2 (16.7%)
With a Sword 1 (8.3%)
The poll and been locked and we shall continue
I've started a little prototype meeple.
Obviously the design for the shield is the topic of another vote. But not our next vote:
How should the Farmer be represented? (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=2855.0)
-
The polls are in:
How should a farmer be represented?
With a pitchfork!
Which leaves us with the next question:
How should the monk be represented? (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=2862.0)
-
Been very busy these last few days, I'll update the info-graphic later, but for now the new poll is open:
How should the thief be represented? (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=2867.0)

The MeepleSource Kickstarter has begun check it out at our URL below!

MeepleSource received the results of our polls last week and are hard at work to deliver us something!
However they are extremely busy with their Kickstarter! (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/meeplesource/character-meeples-20-upgrade-your-gaming-experienc?ref=carccentral)
-
I had my eye on the Colt Express meeple in that
Kickstarter. I am still on the fence.
-
I'll probably get the near snd far meeple and I like the look of the stone age and viking set too. I quite like the mythos ones too but will see what they manage to unlock.
-
I heard back from Meeple Source a few days ago!
I'm very impressed with their design, they've encompassed everything we asked for! I like the colour palette too - it feels medieval.
They've offered to make a few alternations if anyone sees any obvious improvements, but I like it!
-
Looks really good! The only thing I might change is the size of the pitchfork but that could prove difficult. It looks a bit small now, compared to the shield.
-
Are the tines on a pitchfork usually the same length?
-
I like it a lot. Thanks for all your efforts liaising with them and for communicating our design choices. +1 merit for this!
-
Thanks Dan!
Now we just have to name him....KTMF?
-
That looks cool guys. Well done.
-
Looks great, thanks Decar for making this happen!
I would also agree with Valheru and suggest to extend the bottom of the pitch fork if possible. Looks like he's ready for a big dinner right now ;D
-
LOL, those bales of hay aren't going to eat themselves!
-
Thanks for all the suggestions - Meeplesource made the fork a little longer. We canted to keep it inside the meeple's shape in case we ever wanted to make some wooden meeple. That may need a serious round of fundraising though!
-
I like it!
