A season consists of six races.

Entry fee for the league is $20 (Which all goes to charity) and a Six pack of beer to the prize pool. :)

I have 30 plays logged for Castles of Burgundy. It plays very well with 2, 3, or 4 players. The game play is clever and engaging and the game is relatively quick and does not overstay its welcome. A very solid deign in my books with lots of replay-ability. I even recommend picking up the small expansions and promos for the game.

Camel Up

Camel Up is the "Spiel des Jahres 2014".

The graphic artist is Dennis Lohausen. I've talked with him in Leipzig at the exhibition "modell-hobby-spiel".

The author is Steffen Bogen. He talked in an interview with with zuspieler.de about this game. The development of this game needed around 5 years from the idea to the fininished game.

Wow. This is a small world and a global community. The game surprised me with more depth and fun than I first suspected. I am glad I bought it.

Other Games / Re: What game is hitting your table?
« on: October 31, 2014, 10:15:21 AM »
Been awhile since I chimed in... so here goes. :)

Yedo
This is a well designed game that will hit the table again soon. I love the theme and the mechanics. It is a solid Euro design.

Glory To Rome
Very innovative game that shares some mechanics with Innovation. I really like this game and have played it three times recently. I can always be talked into bringing this to ChewsDay Challenge.

Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game
This is just a great game. Each time I play it, I enjoy it more. Now with four full plays under my belt this is a top 10 game for me.

Merchant of Venus
What can I say, other than this game is AWESOME!?! (I am referring to the classic rules of course).

Cavum
Very clever route building game with some puzzle like qualities and abilities to screw over other players. Works for me. :)

Formula De
We are in our 6th season of the Formula De League. League play is where it is at for this game. Solid.

General / Re: Game bias
« on: October 17, 2014, 01:24:31 PM »
I have three base sets and two of most expansions. We play with half of the tiles so we never truly know what the tile distribution is. Impossible to be a tile counter in our games. :)
When do you decide the game's over? :)

We have a number of ways we use to determine game end.
(1) We simply grab a quantity of tiles that will be used for our game. All of our tiles are mixed so this works well.
-or-
(2) We play for a set amount of time. IE: Game will end at 11pm.
-or-
(3) We play until the tiles have reached all four table edges. We like this method as it gives some control and visibility to end game. (Another aspect of strategy is trying to end the game this way).
