Odin's Ravens
« on: November 23, 2017, 02:12:24 PM »
In local Waterstones's bookshop they have Odin's Ravens which I was wondering about as a stocking filler for "us". Pretty much same price as I've seen through Amazon. They carry the odd Pandemic box, plus about 20 versions of Monopoly, so was surprised to see something a little bit off mainstream or not aimed at kids. Anyone played it and have views whether it's worth taking a shot at. I've had a look at some runthroughs off YouTube and it seems quite straightforward. Definitely a light 2-player filler (20mins maybe).

I have it. It’s definitely light - I think by BGG complexity rating it’s the lightest game I own. The cards basically play themselves. The art is pleasing, so if you have a non-gamer partner like I do, it’s a nice game to play together. If you’re looking for something a bit more than that in a two-player game, I’d go with something like Jaipur instead.

Many thanks for the suggestion. Santa brought Jaipur for Christmas. Quite enjoyable, and probably requires a little bit more thought than Odin's Ravens would have. Went back to the shop I'd seen it (OR) in a few weeks later (in case I could get a copy for Decar) but they no longer had any copies. Maybe I should have taken a punt when they had it in stock!
