Thoughts On Ark Of The Covenant
« on: June 28, 2017, 02:41:28 PM »
I will soon be getting this Carcassonne spin-off from Paul! In anticipation, what are your thoughts about this game?

I've spoken to a friend of mine who has it and he loves it, but is that the general consensus or is he really bias because he's my friend?

It is definitely one of my favourite spin-offs. The art utterly contrasts with the art in all the other games. The Ark is a nice spin on the Fairy, but works better and more thematically. And the Temple rules are great and, in some ways, better than the Cloisters/Monasteries from classic Carcassonne. I got this game back around 2010 and haven't played it since 2012, but it remains possibly my favourite spin-offs. Highly recommended.

I enjoy this spin off too.  Moving the Ark is a good way of scoring points.  Farming the sheep is a mechanic reused in Gold Rush with tee-pees and wild horses.

I think this is a very good spin off. It has the ark wich can give you points, but also a prophet that can give you ekstra points for one of the cities. And you must be careful so that your prophet don't get trapped while you try to make a bigger city for more points. The cloisters rules, make it like a fight for the points. And you have a shepherd instead of farmer who must protect his herd from the wolfes. This is a great game and I think you gonna like it.
