Many thanks, again, for this final piece, Challa007

I have written the name of the expansion to the person and now the corresponding rules have been found. Here is the picture  ;D

Excellent work @Challa007, and many thanks for doing this. I will update the "Lost Expansions" document in due course. It's still "lost" of course, but at least we have the pictures to go with the text I had. And thanks to @KlausiMausi for his info adding to what we know.

I've gone back to the document I created for all the Lost Expansions (originally this was for expansions mentioned on carcassonne.nl, an early Carcassonne fan site), and the notes for The Holy Grail lead me to be (almost) 100% sure that this is the start block from that expansion. Sample images, for the descriptions below, were missing in the original source.

If black completes this city, he gets 8 points for it, (3 city pieces + 1 shield)*2. The freed knight is placed in the Montsegur fortress on the first scoring space. Black receives an additional 2 points for this. The black knight must remain in the fortress until he or another player places a new knight in the fortress.

If, for example, the road is finished by red, red gets 2 points for his road. The red serf is placed on the next valuation square (red gets another 4 points for this) and the black knight goes back to its owner.

The monastery is also occupied differently: If the meadow adjacent to the monastery is placed another meadow tile (in this case with a city part), one cannot place a farmer on it, but a monk may be placed in the monastery.

Red gets 9 points for completing the monastery, must place his knight on the next valuation space in the fortress and receives (in this example) an additional 10 points.

The serf, who enters the fortress on the last valuation square (14 points), remains there until the game ends. So it is decisive when a road, city or monastery is finished. The longer a player waits, the more points he gets for his knight in the fortress, with, however, the risk that he will reach the last square and not get his serf back.

Does anybody here has an idea from what fan expansion this is?  @wolnic ?

It's not something that springs to mind immediately, not that I've looked at all of the fan expansions. I have searched through the Expansion Finder on WICA for anything with a 4x3 tile block, and the only one I've never seen an image of is "The Holy Grail" by Friederich Scholta. Since that's a "lost" expansion I'm not aware of anyone here who would know for sure - a few of us have been trying to find details for a long time, now. Maybe some of the long-time members of CarcF (who are reluctant to speak of that time) may know. However, the description we have pieced together for "The Holy Grail" states ...

As players complete features on the board, their followers are held in a fortress (scoring an increasing number of points) but must wait until they are replaced by the next to complete a feature; apart from the last who remains until the end of the game!

Maybe you've just found, for us, our Holy Grail! +1 merit from me!

Official Rules / Re: Can bridges be placed towards abbeys?
« on: March 17, 2023, 07:16:46 AM »
During the 1960s/70s, when a motorway (M8) was being put through the centre of Glasgow, a number of footbridges were built over it to link the two sides together. Unfortunately the funding ran out for the niceties, and for several decades there was a famous "Bridge To Nowhere" to the west side of the city centre with a winding, gentle, ramp at one end, and a 40ft drop at the other. However in the early to mid 10s, money was found from a new source to finally complete the bridge. Search for "Glasgow Bridge To Nowhere".

Chinese Carcassonne with the Great Wall

There was a thread on CarcF about 5 years ago when someone had some ideas about creating a Chinese-based version of Carcassonne, as that could provide a very large target market! The details are not in the WikiCarpedia Fan Expansion Selector/Finder yet, but I have them for a future update. The subject title was "The Great Wall of China" or "Chinesische Mauer", and the proposal by dertoedlichepass. I've categorised it as a "Musing", because it never went beyond the ideas stage, but did touch on what could be included.

See https://www.carcassonne-forum.de/viewtopic.php?t=4127

All the tiles are included on WikiCarpedia, but we took the decision at the start to only include smallish-sized images (around 100px) that were large enough for illustrative purposes only.

There's a tool that allows you to show all the tiles by selecting expansion(s) and features - from the Home Page, see Reference Guides / Tile Reference - for First Edition it's at ...

https://wikicarpedia.com/index.php/Tile_Reference_(1st_edition)

but there are also some "quick" selectors available such as "Select all C1".

Your link was to : https://www.goblins.net/files/downloads/S-CAR_v6.4.pdf

You'll find the 7.4 version of the S-CAR here, at

https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=292

but that has been superseded by WikiCarpedia, which started out as an online version of that version of S-CAR, and has been updated extensively since.

There's mention of "The Constable" in

https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=138.0

which are postings taken from the old CarcC site

https://carcassonnecentral.com/forum/index.php?topic=670.0

It's already included in the Fan Expansion Selector as a "Musing" (currently M/124) as there were no links to finished documents.

The Kar-Kas-Onn page on BGG has a link to the original download file and a couple of images of demo games in play. It's a space-based "skin".

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/269002/kar-kas-onn

Anyone seen "Allotment Gardens"? It's an urban re-skinning, with several different designs, switching fields to be the concrete jungle, and the cities as the urban green space. There's also a page on BGG for it

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/57607/allotment-games

with a link to the original project website (2009) which contains a page detailing the changes, but the Internet Archive also has some more recent files (2017) and background info to the project

... but the link provided on the WikiCarPedia page for the Bards expansion only pops up an error message that we don’t have “permission” to upload the file so we can see the tiles!

Bards (by trebuchet) is available through both CarcC and CarcF - there are links to both on the Fan Expansion Selector page.

The CarcC entry takes you to the Downloads page, but the actual expansion file is then on Mediafire.

On CarcF, there are two options, Google and Dropbox (if you have been granted access to the Downloads area). I tend to pick Dropbox as Google sometimes asks for a log in, or asks you to send a message to the owner to give you explicit permission to access the file.

Was this what you did? What link did you try to follow?

I usually find Mediafire opens up separate advertising windows through the browser - personally I don't like this approach, but realise that this host was widely used 10 or more years ago as a shared file store.

I've also taken a look at the page on WICA that's been created for "The Bards of Carcassonne". It appears to be "Under Construction". The rules are present, but there are no images.

P.S.  Perhaps option 5 should be ‘Floor - with “total shifting” of tiles?’  >:D

And if it's a tile floor ...

There are a couple of fan expansions that include City Caps that can be added to a city looking for just a single tile edge. I’ll dig out the names later. One was by Chmura, and the other I just noticed on BGG was bundled with a centre table scoreboard. There might have been one other, but I'll have to check.

[Edit:]
Chmura's "City Token" is only available on the CarcCZ site, but I've added a thumbnail of the pieces below.

The BGG one is "Annex and scoring track start tile" by drewdane - https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/78984/annex-and-scoring-track-start-tile

There is also a development idea on CarcF called "The Postern Gate" which allows a player to place such a token (marked with an exit arrow) on an already played tile with a city cap through which they could have a trapped follower be removed from the city, or where they are no longer in the majority.
