Between those, count my vote for the “Siege” trilogy as you put it, for basically all the reasons you’ve read above. If you’re able to get them in the old artwork (you specified C1) you may really enjoy the double-tile Castles in Germany as well.

What are mammoths doing in medieval Carcassonne? This a bit awkward emoji code848]
I think this special edition is an opportunity to give a nod to other HiG flagship titles.  ;)

That’s exactly what is going on.

We’re missing the even more obvious expansion foreshadowing, ladies and gents... bear with me here, I think I have it... new Mini-Expansion: Shopping Spree.

Includes a mini shopping cart for you to store your tiles, compatible with the house rules of drawing three tiles at the start of the game with one following each turn thereafter— a new and exciting way to store your three tiles between turns. Also includes eight new tiles featuring a shopping mall, a tile that completes a road feature and immediately scores the player placing it two points per completed city within the the fields (similar to scoring a farmer.)

Also compatible with Catapult expansion... a given player may choose to launch their shopping cart (with the catapult) in lieu of drawing a tile. It doesn’t add any gameplay or score points or anything like that, but it mimics the real-world phenomenon of shopping carts crashing or running amok, bringing either irritation or laughs to the other shoppers.

OCD? What OCD?  ;D

Haha, we are our own support group here at CC, right?  ;) Except we never get “better”... just manage our condition!  :))

Great couple of points, danisthirty. At the end of the day, I see this new summary as ensuring new players + casual players just being able to play the game in the way new players/ casual players play games (not like us OCD, completionist, thorough-treatment-of-every-conceivable-interaction folks! I’m on board with your description of the intent of the new summary, and what it will mean in practical terms for its intended audience.

That being said, I love the shout out to Carcassonne Central! It’ll be a great segue for the players that are interested in more—that was me at one point!

Anything Else / Re: Cundco shipping issue
« on: March 17, 2021, 08:11:47 PM »
Hi Allograft,

I had a similar issue here stateside as well— ordered from Cundoco in November, and it was mid February before I received my shipment in Kentucky. Just like you, I saw that the items had been shipped from Germany fairly quickly cleared customs, with the last update of “The shipment will be transported to the destination country/destination area and, from there, handed over to the delivery organization" just like you have.

I emailed Cundco about it in late January, and they asked me to wait another week or two. They were very apologetic and offered to reship the order at no cost to me. Waited about three weeks, and they followed up with me. The day after they sent that email, my order arrived through regular mail— small box wrapped in brown paper.

For whatever reason, regular shipping/low priority international mail is sometimes taking forever. I’ve heard that the international sorting centers in New Jersey, Baltimore, and LA have become incredibly slow since the DeJoy fiasco with the postal system last October.

I don’t know if my experience illuminates anything for your situation, but I did have to wait much longer than I would have expected to—longer than I ever have for international shipping— and I had the exact same tracking status, up until I received the order (without even an “out for delivery” update.)

I hope your order arrives soon! If you contact Cundco customer service, they will be very helpful and try to make sure you are made whole or get your items— I had nothing but a great set of interactions with them. Just be prepared for delays due to time zones and the odd English sentence or two due to imperfect translations!

Ahhh those images bring me back to childhood, when I would visit my grandparents. It seemed like every electronic except the coffee maker toaster had plastic coverings or crocheted covers, lol.

Does somebody have a good argument for the existence of this product?
It seems to just produce potential problems with no benefit...

I would compare it to a spiky door handle - you buy it to inconvenience yourself.

These may also benefit in case there is a home intruder during a Carcassonne game...function as throwing stars? They would not expect it.

Welcome, bidbid! It’s good to have you here, and good to hear about your gaming experiences. I hope that as you try Carcassonne with some of the expansions, you find the variety and beauty of the tiles to keep bringing you back. Carcassonne is one of those board games where each game truly is a new game— there’s always something new to try, discover, and enjoy with this great game.

Welcome!

Don't be impatient! It's been only 3 years...  >:D

Yes, quality Carassonne is like a fine wine...takes years to develop and age into it’s perfection. Our profiles are surely similar!  ;D

Well done Meepledrone.

Sorry I couldn't take part. I was hoping to sit down a few days after Xmas before New Year and give these a go.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it before the answers started coming out....

I'm guessing it's too late to submit answers now.

Yes, well done Meepledrone! Apart from my participation the first day, I too was hoping to quickly catch up after Advent was over, but alas, it wasn't meant to be! I've really enjoyed both the puzzles you created and the whimsy with the story that went along with it-- bravo!  :))
